Work Text:
Sand can hear the ringing in his ears. It blocks out every other feeling he has in his entire body. He's pretty sure he's lying on the cement, the burnt smell of tirees filled the air, along with burning hair.
His mouth is dry, and he reaches his hand out, but all he can get is a switch in his fingers. He's sure there's glass shards sticking in his skin, but he's far too weak and dizzy to do anything about it. All he can do is stare at the tunnel ceiling, the orange light blending in the shadows.
"Sand!"
His ears are muffled and so is the sound.
"Sand!"
The voice is growing closer and closer.
A person appeared in his view, calling out his name and looking all over him. There's a panic there, sharp and quiet. He knows the person, when did Nick show up, where did he come from?
He's like a falling angel.
"It's okay, Sand," Nick says to him, "I called the ambulance, they're coming to get you, you're okay."
Sand isn't sure when he's reaching his hand out to him, but Nick takes it. It's enough for Sand to feel the sensation of Nick's shaky and sweaty palm, and his fingers curl tightly enough for Sand to feel comforted by this.
"You're so beautiful," he says.
Nick's brows furrow, "You're okay, Sand. Really, you're okay, everything will be okay."
"No, really," Sand says, smiling, "you really are."
Nick nodded his head, "Sand, I'll come with you to the hospital. I'll call your parents. I'll make sure people know about this, and that you—"
"Will you be there?"
"Yes, I'll stay with you," he said, rubbing Sand's hand.
"You're so beautiful, Nick."
Nick placed his hand on Sand's forehead, "I know you were just in a car accident, and you might have a concussion, so I'm just going to take the compliment, okay, since we're friends."
"Only friends?" Sand asked.
Nick smiled, "Yes, Sand."
The ambulance came not too long after, and Nick had met Sand at the hospital. He was telling him that Sand's parents were taking care of his car and whatever expenses they needed to pay for it.
Sand did have a concussion and a few wounds on his arms, but other than that, he'll have to live with the bruises for the next few days.
Nick was his own visitor, and well, Sand didn't think much of his other so-called friends since…he was currently not talking to any of them.
When he was dischared, he walked out with Nick.
"You really are beautiful," Sand said to him.
Nick blushed, looking away, "I thought that was just the concussion talking."
"Oh, no, it was all me."
"Good to know, Sand."
