The words of the Purgatory leader ring in Baghera’s head as she and the rest of the members stand frozen in shock. Her eyes linger on the timer above her head as she sees the counter go from ten minutes, to 9:58, 57,56, and then chaos erupts. She can barely hear her own thoughts over the cacophony of noise. She thinks she can hear Tubbo screaming at them to run, get out and Foolish’s panicked voice asking about the eggs. It’s hard for Baghera to tell exactly what is going on around her as she springs into action and weaves between panicked bodies to reach Pomme. All that matters to her right now is Pomme.
“Pomme! How do we reach you?” Baghera asks, her motions panicked as she tries to dig the floor up with her pickaxe with no success. Pomme moves as close to the barrier as she can, aching for the comfort of her mother. Baghera looks around at the other parents and she notices that no one is having success with freeing their egg. That can’t be, surely there is a way to reach her daughter. She cannot lose her again, not after two weeks in this hellhole.
Then, another pop up appears before her and she watches as the disaster wheel spins and lands on an earthquake. The ground begins to shake and the ceiling begins to crumble around her. She doesn’t focus much on the damage she is taking as she weaves between the falling blocks, frantically eating popcorn to tank some of the hits and shakes that cause her to lose damage. She knows that it is futile, that she cannot outlive this disaster or the soon to be exploding nuke. Baghera’s voice is laced with anguish as she calls out for her child out of pure desperation with no response (“My child! How? Pomme!”).
Soon, Pomme’s cage is blocked due to the amount of falling blocks and Baghera cannot see her daughter anymore. She just got her back, and she is already gone again. A lone tear falls down her cheek as her hearts gets lower and her body feels weaker until she is gone. As Baghera respawns she can feel her body weaving back together and her bones snapping back into place. When her vision clears, the only thing running through her mind is Pomme. She must get back to Pomme. She will not leave her daughter, never will she be alone again. She runs out of the Bolas base into the apocalyptic, orange tinted landscape of Egg island and takes off towards her last death point. The clock above her ticks down slowly with only eight minutes left on the clock. She pulls out her MDA and types out a message to her team.
BagheraJones: i'm so far away
Yet, she keeps pushing forward. She doesn’t stop, not for her other team members' messages, not for the boat coordinates, and not for the disaster pop up introducing a meteor as the next disaster. She glides over across the land, runs through flames and climbs over Tubbo’s wall surrounding Global and skids down the hallway towards the wheel room. Her lungs are burning at this point and her legs ache more with each step she takes. The timer is now dangerously close to zero (30, 29, 28…) and she knows that she will not make it, not to Pomme, not to the boat, and certainly not to any of her teammates. Her hand shakes as she pulls out her MDA while running and she types out her final message.Tear drops blur her eyes and fall onto the screen. She knows there will be no respawning this time. She doesn’t think she could comprehend living in a world knowing her daughter was dead.
BagheraJones: adios Bolas, I won’t leave without her
Baghera’s last thoughts are of her team. It was just earlier that they were all together, waiting for the final event to start. She can see Cellbit and Roier whispering to each other on the side, Charlie’s warm smile and comforting wave, Foolish's laugh in the background, Phil’s hand resting comfortably on her shoulder after a night of sparring, and Etoiles and Mouse arguing loudly off to the side. As Baghera dies, a memory of Pomme smiling up at her flashes through her mind and she cannot help but think it was worth it to die with her daughter.
The timer hits zero and all she sees is a bright flash and just like that, Baghera Jones is dead.
