Summary
“Gratitude?” Lawrence growls, trying to keep his voice down. “What exactly do I have to be grateful to you for? I lost my foot. My wife left me and took my daughter with her. I lost everything. What exactly did I gain from your sick little game?”
“Quite a lot, I would say.”
Kramer turns one of the photo frames on Lawrence’s desk towards him to examine it.
It’s a photo of Lawrence with Adam. He can’t remember where the photo was taken, possibly in the park, but it was somewhere outdoors in the winter judging by the coats and scarves they’re wearing. Adam had set up the timer on his camera to take a picture of them together, and the camera had flashed just as Lawrence had pressed a kiss to one of Adam’s rosy cheeks. Lawrence likes to look at Adam’s smile in this photo whenever he’s having a bad day.
He takes the frame from Kramer and places it face down on one side of the desk. He doesn’t want Kramer’s eyes on Adam in any shape or form. It feels like a violation.
