Chapter Text
“I was just thinking… that I wanted to kiss you. Heh,” Gon says, a grin on his face.
Killua can feel his face light up in flames, the heat creeping up his ears and down the back of his neck like wildfire. His mouth feels dry when he responds, articulately, “Huh?”
Charming.
“I want to kiss you!” Gon repeats, a bit louder and more determined now.
“I heard you the first time! You don’t have to say it again, idiot.”
“Aw, boo.” Gon pouts, and now that Gon has him thinking about kissing, Killua can’t help thinking that Gon’s lips look kinda kissable like that. Then, perking up suddenly, Gon leans forward, looking up at Killua through his eyelashes, and says, “Can I though?” and Killua’s brain short circuits, and the way his face blazes anew must be obvious if the mischievous little smile spreading across Gon’s lips is anything to go by. Killua has to search through his suddenly-empty mind for a cool (or at least coherent) response, but there’s nothing, so he just nods. The way Gon’s face lights up in response makes the embarrassment worth it.
Gon gently takes Killua’s hands in his (which is good, because Killua can’t think of what he should be doing with them) and leans in slowly enough that Killua could easily move his head away if he wanted to. Gon closes his eyes, and for a moment, Killua watches as Gon’s face approaches his, before squeezing his eyes shut because the anticipation of watching Gon tilting his head ever so slightly and getting closer and closer is making his head spin.
Their lips meet and Killua can feel the butterflies come alive in his stomach. There’s something comfortable and right about kissing Gon, about even just being with Gon. Killua feels Gon smile into the kiss, and he can feel himself being pulled into Gon’s orbit again. He tightens his hands around Gon’s as the world seems to tilt around him, his heart pounding in his ears and against his ribcage. The kiss barely lasts more than a second, just slightly beyond a peck, but Killua still manages to feel lightheaded from it. Then again, he already felt that way before the kiss, so maybe Gon just has this effect on him.
When Killua opens his eyes, Gon’s cheeks are flushed pink and there’s an almost shy smile on his lips. It makes Killua want to lean back in and kiss him again.
“I love you,” Gon says simply, his eyes warm and brown and looking directly into Killua’s. Killua’s heart soars and his cheeks heat up.
“I love you too,” Killua replies, hiding his reddening face in the crook of Gon’s neck because he’s sure that whatever expression he’s making right now is probably embarrassing and he wants to hide. And... because this too is comfortable, and sometimes, Gon is so full of affection and he shares it with Killua so willingly and without warning that it’s impossible for Killua to process it while maintaining eye contact, let alone respond.
Gon just giggles and wraps his arms around Killua, pulling him closer. “You’re so cute,” he coos.
“Am not,” Killua protests half-heartedly. Gon presses his face into Killua’s hair, placing a kiss on the crown of his head.
“The cutest in the whole entire world.”
