Work Text:

”Hiya Dad, I might have done something stupid. Or brilliant. Haven’t made up my mind yet.”

The sigh carried over the line. “What have you done now, son?”

The day before

Today was a good day, Poe thought as he stuffed his flight suit into his locker. The New Republic Starfighter Corps had once more evaded the threat of a budget cut and his stay in the core bore fruit. Lieutenant Dameron had a nice ring to it and even better, his new X-wing was pure magic. How they danced together, sensitive to the tiniest of motions.

A new flight record was set. He would claim it is a splendid day.

So, when Jessika, Snap and the Rapiers invited him to celebrate, it could only get better! Who could Dameron be convinced of anything but that the galaxy would provide more blessings his way?

Cheering his promotion in sparkling Nabooian wine, served on the house, was when Poe first saw them. Dark, sharp imperial dress with a matching accent. Strange, worrisome but not worth looking into tonight. Instead, he let himself be convinced to retell the story of his record-breaking flight, performed with passion and an abundance of smiles.

A flash of deep red caught his eye before he reached the zenith of his tale. A flash of red among the sea of imperial black.

Sipping Correlian whiskey while listening to Jessika, he once again found his attention drawn to the other side. It was difficult to focus on her voice when the redhead turned towards them. Displeasure dripping from his countence he still pulled off gorgeous. If only he would smile.

Then he did.

Oh.

No.

He is hot.

Their gazes meet over the room. Poe winked and Red Imperial Fanboy blushed a flattering hue. Why was he so hot?

“Poe, that is a terrible idea,” Snap said. Jessika turned to where he looked and seconded the statement.

“But he is so pretty.”

“He is First Order trash, oh and glaring at you.” She said.

“Sorry, I interrupted you.” Poe flashed her a smile and forced his attention back.

The hot redhead seemed bored out of his mind. What could a heroic guy like Poe do, if not save him in his hour of need?

Seeing him move towards the bar provides the perfect excuse to do so. To the accompaniment of eye-rolls from his friends Poe stalked toward his intended prey.

“Could I get you something?” Words phrased as a question but with confidence oozing from his posture.

The cute First Order officer looked at him as if he had lost all sense. “Oh, you.” His tone was dismissive but not displeased. Posture stiff, military breed this one and hopelessly sweet in a strange rigid way.

“Lieutenant Dameron.” Unable to stop a goofy smile at his new title. “Poe to friends.”

“And you celebrate your promotion like this?” Pretty, prickly and painfully his type. “Captain Hux.” That sounded vaguely familiar, but Poe could not place it.

Their hands on the counter were almost touching. Something in his eyes relaxed even when his rigidness lingered. “No first name? Or any congratulations?”

“Congratulations on your promotion Lieutenant.” He said with a dry tone betrayed by the curve of his mouth. “What do you recommend?”

Success!

The barman returned with the whiskey and Hux took a tentative sip before throwing a glaze at his company, before returning his intense green eyes to Poe. Where they should be, why was this guy so hot?

“So, Hux. What is a handsome guy like you doing stuck in the Order?” Accidentally brushing against him while reaching for the tumbler.

The captain froze a millisecond at the brief touch. “Being pursued by republican officers.” Dusty blush was once more prominent on sharp cheekbones.

“Would you allow yourself to be captured then?” Hand finding a black-clad thigh. Tailored trousers, Poe’s mind provided.

“It depends on your ability to follow orders.” He leaned into the touch, very responsive.

Poe felt himself blush at the suggestion. “You would make an awful prisoner, but I can handle you.”

“Is that so?” Arching an eyebrow before sipping.

Both their parties watched their interaction with chock-mingled dismay. Jessika even hid her face and Snap locking slightly green. One of Hux’s men approaches them.

Hux scowled at the upcoming intrusion. “I have a room nearby if you care to follow through on your cooky statement.”

“Yes, captain,” Poe said with a wink. Hand caressing as they stood up. They left before anyone could interrupt.

Between the sheets in Hux’s hotel room, Poe fell in love. Aching in places he never had before. His captain was kinky in ways only enhanced by his uniform.

This day turned from good to great to amazing.

Sex-induced haze clouded his mind, watching the now exposed milk-white limbs. Poe caught his breath between softening kisses where before only heated passion burned. Sheets tangled around them.

“This was a terrible idea. He will have me shoot.”

What? “Who? For this?” Pressing another kiss to Hux’s collarbone.

“My father.” The lull of his mind snapping to attention. “This might finally be his excuse to get rid of me.”

That only seconds before had cherished the delight of each other’s bodies seemed distant. “Why would anyone want that?”

“I don’t want to build his weapon. Or that he always resented me.” Hux stared towards the ceiling. “To answer your previous question, I am stuck in the Order from birth.”

He brushed against Hux’s clear-shaven cheek, gently turning his face towards Poe. “Then don’t go back.”

“And do what?”

“Stay.” It sounded reckless to Poe’s ears, but in the same way as the high in his cockpit did. Promising a great rush and greatness to come, he knew to trust his intuition.

Hux blinked. “Stay?”

“Yes, here with me.”

He was blessed with a lucky star after all. What could go wrong?

“That is your sex-addled mind speaking. How would that work?”

“I happen to know a princess and a senator who would be very interested in meeting a high-level defector.” Brazen and bold. “Between the two of us, I want to know more about you.” Hux hummed non-committedly at that. “And Hux, care to addle it some more?”

He moved in for the kiss. “You are insatiable.”

“Please?” It ended in a slight whimper as the captain’s mouth moved down his chest.

Descending his body until he sang a symphony of moans for Hux.

Watching Hux get dressed, Poe leaned back into the heap of messed-up blankets. “So, are you taking me up on the offer?”

“You were serious?”

“Of course.”

Hux looked torn, his thumb stroking over the insignia of his uniform jacket. “I am afraid, it is all I have ever known.”

“I wish there were more time, but this might be the only chance you get.”

Something went off, the message he received pushing him over the threshold of doubt. “Yes.”

“Take what you can and we get out of here. I have some calls to make.” He kissed the handsome redhead again, struck by his great bravery. “What is your first name? You never told me.”

“Armitage.”

Calling his dad. Here goes nothing.

”Hiya Dad, I might have done something stupid. Or brilliant. Haven’t made up my mind yet.”

The sigh carried over the line. “What have you done now, son?”

“Um, is Leia still over?” Sheepishly smiling.

Kes Dameron muttered something about hopeless sons with familiar fondness and called Leia over. The senator's face appeared beside his. “Congratulations Poe.”

“Thank you. I will need your help. And I have something for you.”

She waited patiently while Kes shook his head at his son’s goofy smile.

“I was just celebrating my promotion and met this, no to keep it short, I am in love and have found you a defector! Oh, and we need your help.”

“Come again?”

“His name is Armitage, FO, captain. Super cute and his father might murder him.” Armitage appeared back into the room at that moment.

“Poe, please let me talk to him.” Leia said, while Armitage said simultaneously “You are making a mess out of this.”

Handing his man the holo device, the captain and princess spoke. A long time until a verdict was reached.

Armitage gave Poe a hesitant smile. “We are to have tea, but first you were to bring me along on your vacation?"

"See, told you. You get everything you can find?"

The man nodded and Poe found his hand, leading him towards a new future.

"Poe, What is a vacation?”

Poe arrived on Yavin 4 with the defected captain and his boyfriend in tow.

Tea was had, information swapped and a quick friendship was struck.

The years flew by and Poe's luck stayed on his side. Love grew where passion blossomed. Both joined Leia’s resistance and the previous Captain Hux became Cornel A. Dameron. His marriage to Poe was news which spread like wildfire through Republic, resistance and FO alike.

When war finally broke out, Armitage had the knowledge to bring the Starkiller weapon down. Based on his intel Poe delivered the final strike against the base with surgical precision. Their partnership was both martial and marital.

Coming home from another mission, Poe saw his dark-clad redhead muttering something in his sharp accent. Basking in the moment to watch the man he loves with all defences down.

Oh yes, my husband is hot.

Notes:

Much happier instalment today, hope you liked it.

Did Armitage just top between the lines? Oh yes!
