simon riley was awakened by the sunlight streaming through the thin curtains, hitting onto his eyelids perfectly.
he groans in both annoyance and from being exhausted, not exactly having a good time falling asleep last night. especially after all the drinks he's had.
the man rubs his eyelids sleepily, gradually opening them to be graced by the beautiful sight of his wife facing towards him as she slept.
you were laying on your side, lips swollen from all the kisses and love that was made the night before.
some marks were beginning to form around the base of your collarbone and neck— only proving even more evidence that you and simon had some fun last night.
even though your hair was messy and all over the place, simon thought you were the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen in his whole existence of living.
it was cheesy— he knew that for a fact. but he couldn't deny your rosy cheeks and slightly parted lips was incredibly darling to him. he just wanted to squeeze you and never let go.
simon adjusted himself so he was propped up on his elbow, gently tucking a strand of your hair behind your ears, enjoying how soft your locks were.
his heart skipped a beat when you sighed, snuggling even closer into his chest in your sleep. he thought it was adorable.
your husband cards his calloused and rough fingers through your hair, admiring your smooth face and pretty lashes while you slumbered— eventually pressing a loving kiss on your forehead.
it must have woken you up, since your eyelids began to flutter open as soon as this gesture was made.
simon remained having a neutral and calm expression while you yawned and stretched like a cat, smiling lazily up at him once your tired eyes opened.
"g'morning, luv." the british man says, his voice in a soft murmur as he admired your sleepy expression as you woke.
you hum in response, burying your face in between the juncture of his neck and shoulder, causing him to kiss the top of your head affectionately.
your husband gently nudges your side, and you're already groaning before his words even come out of his mouth. "come on, (y/n). we have to get up."
instead of complying to him, you whine like a child and huff in annoyance. "simon... it's literally 10am."
"i know. what about it?" he asked, a cheeky yet sarcastic undertone to his seemingly innocent words. you sigh.
just because you were tired this morning, you felt no need to argue with him today. so instead of that, you try to persuade him by acting extra sweet.
the british man was slightly caught off guard after you pressed your pink lips to his, though he didn't complain— easily wrapping his strong yet gentle arms around you.
you pull away after a few seconds, your eyelids half lidded as you say, "will that manage to convince you now?"
"shit, baby. looks like you've managed to convince me." simon replied to you in his rough british accent, tightening his hold around you.
your soft giggles sound through the room, snuggling back into his warm body and enjoying the lingering scent of his cologne. it made you feel safe— with his muscular arms and blankets over you both. it was nice.
your husband's chin rests on the top of your head, occasionally getting a whiff of your shampoo and conditioner that he loved so much but would never admit it to anyone.
eventually, the two of you drift back off into a peaceful sleep— only for you both to wake up in a panicked state to realize you were going to be late for work.
but simon wouldn't have changed that morning for anything, and you wouldn't have either. after all, sometimes all you needed to do was to enjoy the moments in life— as short they can be sometimes.
