   Summary

   “What the fuck is happening.” Steve stares at the floor. He doesn’t recognise the hysterical voice, strangely distorted as it is. He probably should be more worried about hearing voices, but Steve’s not sure he cares after what he just saw. He’s exhausted.

   “You tell me,” the voice counters. “You’re the voice in my head.”

   Steve’s childhood was full of bizarre moments that weren’t his; young laughter and the pain of scraped knees. He’d pushed it down, ignored it. Until he couldn’t. Until the infamous night when he takes a bat full of nails to the sinewy monster in the Byers’ living room. That night, Steve gains a boatload of trauma and a new friend.
