Spending Thanksgiving with you.

Work Text:

It all began when you met Neal Page on the plane to thanksgiving. He was a stranger to you at first, but soon you found yourselves arguing over who was right and who was wrong. Despite your differences, you both ended up sharing a bed in a motel that you paid for out of pity for him.
But you were arguing again, Neal had bolted out of bed saying he was leaving because you wouldn't stay still, that you were annoying and that you only got in the way of his life, it hurt you a lot.

"You are an intruder," you shouted at him, feeling a surge of anger.

Neal put his hand to his chest in an ironic tone. "Oh, am I an intruder?" he said.

"Yes, you are. And you're ungrateful, too. If it weren't for me, you'd be sleeping on the floor at that airport," you said.

Neal rolled his eyes. "I'd rather be sleeping on the airport floor than be here with you, listening to you," he said.

You felt hurt by his words, but you didn't let it show. "Then why haven't you left yet, huh?" you asked, trying to hold back your tears.

In the midst of your intense argument, Neal unexpectedly directed his gaze towards you, his eyes filled with an overwhelming fury. He swiftly leaned in and pressed his lips against yours, his hands tenderly caressing your face. Initially taken aback by the suddenness of the moment, you soon found yourself instinctively responding to his passionate kiss, the collision of conflicting emotions flooded through you as anger and desire intertwined in this unexpected encounter.
You closed your eyes, savoring the moment, and intensified the kiss. The desire you had harbored for this man for a long time was finally being fulfilled. His lips were incredibly soft and smooth against yours, moreover, Neal proved to be an exceptional kisser, matching your passion and skill.
As the kiss continued, your left hand rested on his chest, providing a comforting touch. Meanwhile, your other hand gradually ventured downwards, exploring the area between his chest and pants, your curiosity and eagerness grew as you delved deeper, slipping your hand inside his pants and feeling his growing excitement, Neal overwhelmed by pleasure, couldn't help but moan within the kiss, intensifying the connection between you both. The hunger for more became undeniable, driving you to seek further intimacy, as the intensity grew, you pushed him onto the soft bed, his body falling face down, his eyes filled with desire, longing to undress you.
With a firm grip on your arm, he pulled you closer, causing both of you to tumble onto the inviting bed. He passionately kissed you once again, igniting a spark between you, your hands instinctively tangled in his hair, leaving gentle scratches on the tender skin of his neck as you pulled his hair ever so slightly, yet, amidst the heat of the moment, a realization dawned upon you.
And that realization was that something felt inexplicably amiss, he was an unfamiliar face, a complete stranger.
But he continued kissing you passionately, but you gently placed your hands on his chest, breaking the intense kiss. As he looked at you with a mix of confusion and desire, still trying to catch his breath, you mustered the courage to speak up.

"We shouldn't be doing this," you said, your voice filled with a hint of regret.

"Why? Did I do something wrong?" Neal asked, his brow furrowing in concern.

"No," you replied, shaking your head slightly.

"Do you want me to be more gentle?" he inquired

"No, it's not about that. It's just that this shouldn't be happening between us. We're not meant for each other," you explained, struggling to find the right words.

Neal's expression changed, a mixture of surprise and disbelief. He quickly got off you and sat on the bed beside you, his eyes fixed on yours.

"What do you mean we're not right for each other? We're on this trip together, and we've shared so much," he said, his voice tinged with a touch of sadness.

"I feel like I've known you for years," he added

You took a deep breath and shifted your position to face him directly. "I know, but we can't deny that we've spent most of this trip arguing," you said, your voice tinged with a hint of regret.

"That's because we used to despise each other. But somehow, that animosity brought us closer and created a connection," he said, gently reaching out to hold your hand.

"If we argue and we barely know each other, imagine being together" you said, your voice with a mix of uncertainty and concern.

"And besides, you're a successful businessman, and I'm just an ordinary person. We don't seem to fit together," you said, your voice tinged with a touch of self-doubt.

He gazed at you intently, standing up from the bed. "Oh, I see," he said, his tone slightly bitter.

A moment of silence hung in the air before he continued, "You don't want to be with me because I'm not like the guys your age," he said, his irritation becoming apparent.

"Neal, that's not true at all. You're completely misinterpreting everything," you said, your voice filled with sincerity and a hint of frustration.

"Yes, I'm the one misinterpreting everything," he muttered sarcastically.

"You know, y/n, if you didn't want to be with me because I'm older, you could have just said so from the beginning. I wouldn't have crossed that line," Neal said, his voice tinged with a mix of hurt and disappointment.

"You kissed me because you wanted to. I didn't force you into anything," you said, feeling the need to defend yourself.

"I didn't force you either. In fact, you even initiated certain actions... well, you know what I'm talking about. And I genuinely believed you wanted me," he said, stumbling over his words, trying to avoid being explicit and growing slightly flustered in the process.

“And I still want you, but unfortunately, we cannot be together. Just take a look at you and look at me,” you said with a hint of sadness in your voice.

“Y/n, let's put an end to this argument. Do whatever you wish, honestly, it doesn't bother me.”

“Tomorrow, we will both continue with our lives separately, and that's how it will be,” Neal stated, his voice filled with resignation.

He lay down on the bed, turned off the light, and you remained there, listening to the silence.

After a while, you also lay down and drifted off to sleep, knowing that tomorrow held new possibilities.

As the night passed, you left the hotel and made your way to the train station. The surroundings were completely empty, indicating that everyone had already gone home.

When you and Neal reached the train station, you found yourselves standing in front of each other, gazing into each other's eyes.

"Is this where you get off?" you asked, breaking the silence.

"Yes," he replied softly.

"Mine is on the other side," you murmured.

Neal looked at you and smiled, but there was a tinge of sadness in his smile. It was evident that he was genuinely upset about the situation.

"Look Neal, it was an amazing trip, despite my occasional moments of being difficult," you said, reminiscing about the moments when you shared stories and Neal listened attentively.

"I assure you that you weren't difficult at all," he said, his eyes locked with yours.

"Listen, y/n, I'm sorry about what happened yesterday. I should have kept my emotions in check," Neal apologized sincerely.

"Oh, it's alright," you reassured him.

"And I deeply regret raising my voice, being rude, and lacking patience. You didn't deserve any of that."

"Come on, don't worry about it. It's all in the past now," you said, trying to ease his guilt.

"Throughout the trip, you have been the kindest and friendliest person I have ever met. Don't ever change that for anyone," he said, his gaze filled with sincerity.

Your heart fluttered at his words. Deep down, you had feelings for Neal, but you knew that things wouldn't work out between you two. He was simply too much for you to handle.

The train slowly approached and came to a stop in front of you. Neal paid for his belongings, and it was time for both of you to go your separate ways.

“Well, i have to go,” Neal said reluctantly.

As Neal extended his arms for a hug, you reciprocated by embracing him tightly, feeling the warmth of his presence. At first, he remained still, but soon he returned the hug, his hand gently caressing your hair.

“I just want you to know that i will never forget you,”

“And that i still love you,” he confessed

These heartfelt statements struck you deeply, causing tears to well up in your eyes. Despite the overwhelming emotions, you tried to remain composed and hold on to your composure.

“I won’t forget you either, Neal,” you replied, your voice filled with equal parts sadness and determination.

Reluctantly, you released the embrace, watching Neal standing at the entrance of the train. He reached out to bid you farewell before boarding the train.

This moment was challenging for you; you longed to step onto that train and kiss him, to be with him. As the train began to move slowly, the reality of the situation hit you like a tidal wave. The man you loved was leaving, perhaps forever.
Neal gazed out the window, watching as you gradually disappeared from sight. The pain in his heart was palpable; he wished he could halt the train and stay with you, but he had obligations elsewhere.
Once you boarded the train, the only thought that raced through your mind was to go after him. Tired of denying your feelings, you wanted him with every fiber of your being. He was the one you wanted to be with.
Knowing that Neal would be departing at the next stop, you made a decision. As soon as you reached the stop, you hurriedly stepped off the train, scanning the area for any sign of him. In the distance, you spotted a man with a suitcase – it was him.

You called out his name, your voice filled with a mix of desperation and hope. When he saw you, confusion flashed across his face.

“Y/n, what are you doing here—” Before he could finish his sentence, you silenced him with a passionate kiss, pouring out all of your longing and love into that moment.

Closing his eyes, Neal reciprocated the kiss, the connection between you both growing stronger.

"I want to be with you, Neal. I love you," you declared, your voice filled with overwhelming emotions and unwavering determination.

"But what about your initial plan, don't you have to go home?" Neal inquired, his concern evident in his voice.

"Forget about it. In this moment, all I desire is to spend Thanksgiving with you, and more importantly, it's you who I want to be by my side for the rest of my life," you passionately expressed, your words echoing with a newfound sense of certainty and commitment.

As Neal heard these heartfelt words, a wide smile of pure joy and affection illuminated his face. He couldn't contain his overflowing love and responded, "I love you more than words can express, y/n," as he pulled you into another tight embrace, sealing your love with yet another tender and profound kiss that spoke volumes about the depth of your connection.

During the trip, you and Neal rode on the train, holding hands and sharing smiles. Neal leaned in close, whispering softly in your ear, "I can't wait for you to meet my family."

With a smile, you replied, "I'm sure I'm going to love them."

As you arrived at the stop, the two of you walked hand in hand to Neal's house. Neal knocked on the door, and it was opened by a small girl.

"Hi pumpkin," Neal greeted her affectionately.

A wide smile brightened the girl's face as she exclaimed with joy, "Uncle Neal!"

Neal crouched down, embracing her and lifting her up. "I missed you so much, my angel," he said lovingly.

"I missed you too," she replied.

Neal gently set her down and said, "I want you to meet someone."

Pointing towards you, he introduced, "This is y/n. We met during the trip."

"Hi y/n," the girl greeted you cheerfully.

"Hello," you replied, returning the smile.

The rest of Neal's family gathered around, and your heart filled with immense happiness as you realized how loving and welcoming they all were.

"Everybody, I want you all to meet y/n," Neal proudly announced, a wide grin spreading across his face. "We actually met during the trip, and I must say, we really hit it off. We're... together now!"

The family of Neal, filled with joy and anticipation, couldn't help but share in his overwhelming excitement, their smiles growing wider and warmer as they enthusiastically greeted you with open arms.

And so, you had the incredible and unforgettable opportunity to spend a truly magical Thanksgiving day by Neal's side, completely immersed in the love and warmth of his close-knit family, as you all gathered together to enjoy an extravagant feast of mouthwatering food, savoring every delectable bite, and creating an abundance of cherished and everlasting memories that will be treasured for a lifetime.
