Work Text:
Your eyes,
A soft brown like mine,
Change my world when I see them
Looking back at me.
The thought that someone like you
Would sit there and listen to my rambling,
Gives me hope that,
Maybe,
I’m alright.
The idea that I can make
Your sun-tanned face
Laugh when I speak
Makes me believe
Someone might enjoy
Being around me.
When I hear
Your soothing voice,
I know I’ll be okay,
At least while I’m near.
What you say sticks
In my brain,
Giving me a ladder
To hold onto
When the floor
Drops beneath my feet.
How you help me
Get back up again when I fall.
How you tell me
You’ll stick through it all.
I could never repay you,
Not in a million years.
But maybe,
regardless of all my tears,
You can rest knowing that
You’ve helped me.
Without your support,
Or your love,
I wouldn’t be me.
Nor could I be free
From all my negativity.
