Summary
Jack glances at his captain. In all the years that he and Izzy have sailed with James Flint, Jack had never seen the man look so conflicted. A myriad of emotions flickers across the man’s face, one after another. Frustration, agitation and nervousness keep changing the other alpha’s scent from something normally even-keeled to a smell that leaves a bad taste in Jack’s mouth.
He and Izzy had been enjoying a drink together on deck in the late afternoon sun when their captain had come storming up the gangplank with John Silver in tow. Flint had one hand around the young omega’s wrist and was dragging John behind him as he made straight for the captain’s cabin. Jack watched as James shoved Silver inside with a growl then turned to see them both and gave a sharp whistle. The two primes had looked at one another, shrugged, and then headed in behind him.
Now, Jack watches as Flint paces back and forth in front of his desk, trying to work out what to do. Silver is perched on top of it, legs crossed and leaning back on his hands. His head is tilted to one side as he watches their captain, a bored expression on his face, as if he hadn’t a care in the world. As if this problem isn’t entirely his fault.
