Quinlan looked around the battlefield and winced at the devastation he saw.
So many troopers were dying. So many were already dead.
The worst part of the war. All the needless death.
Wait, where was Cody?
Quinlan looked around frantically for his boyfriend, his partner. Where was he?
It took him far too long to find Cody's broken body near the debris of an explosion. He was bleeding heavily and too still, body broken.
Quinlan couldn't find the words as his legs gave out.
He pulled Cody into his lap, gently removing the helmet.
Cody's eyes fluttered then opened.
Quinlan swallowed. He knew.
Cody knew too.
Cody was dying. There was no way a medic would reach him in time.
Quinlan pressed his forehead to Cody's ignoring his own tears. Then he gave Cody a gentle kiss.
Cody lifted a hand slowly and brushed away a tear.
Quinlan gave him a tender look before kissing his hand.
They stared at each other as Cody's breath got shallower.
His hand fell.
His eyes closed.
Quinlan pressed his forehead on Cody's once more as he cried.
Cody's Force presence flickered out, leaving what felt like a giant hole.
Quinlan stayed there until Obi-Wan found them.
