Floral Penitence
Lu Guang buys Cheng Xiaoshi flowers on the day they met every year, a bouquet of blue hydrangeas, and if he placed forget-me-nots among those flowers… well, who could blame him?
Cheng Xiaoshi’s bright smile as he thanked him only tugged at his aching heart more. The light filtering in through the sunroom only making the ravens focused movements as he admires the flowers more ethereal. Lu Guang knows the taller doesn’t understand his floral penitence and that was okay for now,,
This was what he deserved.
For now he could accept this… even if it silently ate at him.
The white haired boy hadn’t even realized he spaced out until a flower was swiftly tucked behind his left ear joined by Cheng Xiaoshi’s enthusiastic expression far too close for comfort. He reflexively pushes the taller’s face away, his hand muffling the energetic laughter escaping his partner. Cheng Xiaoshi’s pulled the younger’s hands away before leaning back in with a soft chuckle,
“These flowers suit you GuangGuang”
Lu Guang froze. The raven’s loving… No, the younger quickly corrected himself. He can’t think that way, he would only be feeding his delusions. Cheng Xiaoshi has no reason to view him with such intimacy. He settled with soft instead, Cheng Xiaoshi’s soft gaze trapped him.
Lu Guang could only respond with an ‘irritated’ sigh before ushering Cheng Xiaoshi to tend to the florals elsewhere. He pulled the flower out from behind his ear, a bitter laugh escaped him as he stared at the blue hydrangea in his palm,
“How fitting…”
Forgiveness?
Understanding?
How could he ask Cheng Xiaoshi of this? He was the one to break the rules, Lu Guang didn’t deserve the ravens forgiveness. He scoffed crushing the frail flower for even attempting to entertain his pitiful thoughts. He watched as the scraps, be it his guilt or the flower itself, fall to the floor before turning back to his responsibilities.
Whether he avoided Qiao Lings glares of suspicion or Cheng Xiaoshis not so obnoxious rambling, he could only hope the blossoms would speak for him.
