Chapter Text

Cas loves Dean. He loves the way his eyes shimmer under the moonlight. He loves the way his fur smells after a rainy day. He loves the way his muscles move when he runs. Cas loves dean.

-

They met one night in the autumn, accidentally, really.

A lone wolf, fur like onyx, shunned by his pack, found brief comfort in the darkness of the forest. The earthy, rich scent of the air lured him into a calm state. For the first time in a long time, he felt safe.

His nose twitched slightly in his sleep.

A twig snapped.

In sudden panic, he arose from his slumber, hackles rising, to be met with the greenest eyes he had ever seen.

The wolf in front of him stood there, mere feet away from him, observing. Its ivory coat glowed in the moonlight, beautiful pearls of fur dancing over its muscled body.

Cautiously, the ivory wolf bowed its head, allowing for the onyx wolf to lower its hackles. The earlier sense of calm washed over the onyx wolf again as he drew his blue eyes over the wolf in front of him.

The ivory wolf inched forward. Curious.

In a sudden spike of fear, the onyx wolf attempted a snarl, a warning to the wolf steadily approaching him, however, nothing came out. Green eyes continued to stalk toward blue ones, and no matter how hard he tried, the onyx wolf couldn’t resist the pull he felt to the ivory wolf.

Ivory paws stopped beside onyx ones. A moment passed, only the crickets could be heard. Then…

Inhale

As if in a sudden realisation of what it had done, green eyes widened and the ivory wolf turned to make a quick departure.

In a swift movement, the onyx wolf pounced forward, capturing the ivory wolf’s tail in his mouth. Snarling, the ivory wolf hastily turned to face its attacker, only to be met with curious blue eyes that harnessed no aggression. Then…

Inhale.

Dropping the other wolf’s tail, the onyx wolf leaned in to scent the air again. Inhale. Leaning in further, he inhaled again. As though unable to move, the ivory wolf stood there, allowing the onyx wolf to take in his scent. Despite trying to harness his anger, the ivory wolf couldn’t feel any dismissal toward the unfamiliar wolf, as, when he first locked eyes with the blue ones before him, he felt no fear, no unease, no anger, only warmth.

Inhaling once more, the onyx wolf moved in closer, his nose barely brushing the soft valleys of ivory fur. The scent of the other wolf’s fur enveloped the onyx wolf like an embrace. It was an incredibly intimate gesture, however, the ivory wolf did not take offence to it. Instead, it leaned in, and scented the onyx wolf’s fur in the same way.

Noses buried in each others fur, the wolves locked eyes again, a look of acceptance and affection floated between them as they found themselves melting into each others embrace further and further.

Sinking to the damp forest floor, they found themselves wrapped in each others coats, their noses buried deep into the scruff of the others neck.

This was the first time Castiel loved Dean.
