Usually, people hoped for a bright and clear weather on their wedding day, and would loathe to see clouds gathering in the sky. However, when a drop of rain fell on Childe’s cheek, soon followed by plenty others, his ecstatic smile only grew larger. He didn’t even register the reaction of their guests as their fancy clothes got soaked, all his attention fixated on Neuvillette and the happy tears that were rolling down his face.
“Are we really making you this happy?” He asked while gently cupping the Iudex’s cheek, his voice tight with emotion.
His new husband nodded eagerly and nuzzled into his touch, all while releasing cheerful little draconic grunts. No word was needed to express how deep his love ran, not when he made it all so obvious. That was more than enough to make Childe’s heart melt. Joyous tears of his own stained his skin, and he only sobbed harder when Zhongli leaned in to tenderly kiss the trail they had left behind, before the consultant moved to Neuvillette’s side to give him the same tender treatment.
To the Harbinger, it felt like a dream, to be officially married to these two amazing men. The taste of their lips still lingered on his, from when they had sealed their engagement with the sweetest of kisses. Childe hoped it would never leave, just like he wanted this perfect day to never end.
Even when the rain started to seep into his clothes, chilling him to the bone, he paid no heed to it, even though he could have used his vision to chase the water away. However, he just couldn’t focus long enough to deal with this minor issue, as all his attention was directed toward his beloved mates.
Not that he had to worry about it for long anyway, because the second his husbands noticed his light shivering, they pulled him close while a soft, protective glint glowed in their eyes. Encased between the two dragons, Childe almost instantly warmed up, the heat of their bodies quickly transferring into his own.
The Harbinger blinked, confused, when a tiny orange gem tumbled on his collarbone and down his chest. Another joined it soon after, giving away its provenance: Zhongli was shedding cor lapis tears as he held both his lovers tight, unable to keep his feelings contained any longer.
To think that the Hydro Sovereign and the Prime Adeptus were wearing their heart on their sleeve for a mere human like him… It sounded unbelievable, and yet he couldn’t deny the truth of it, not when Neuvillette and Zhongli stared at him with utter adoration in their eyes. There was so much affection, so much trust there… So much that he thought he would never deserve…
But despite everything, despite his Harbinger status, despite his Abyssal taint, they had chosen him, and had not hesitated to let all of Teyvat know of their relationship, even if it risked impacting their reputation negatively. And somehow, he had managed to reach the guarded heart of those two powerful but lonely dragons, to offer them the companionship they so desperately longed for.
For once, Rex Lapis was looking forward to the future, instead of losing himself in the past. For once, no one was telling the Hydro Dragon not to cry, even as it poured and poured.
And as for Childe…
For once, there, in his husbands’ arms, surrounded by their pure and sincere love, he felt like he truly belonged.
