Work Text:
Kipo and her friends had been accepted back into Timbercat Village after Scarlemagne's failed coronation. The sun had gone down and they were all gathered in the Great Hall for dinner. Kipo was chewing on a piece of meat, but Wolf was reluctant with touching her food.
Kipo frowned at her younger sister before realizing what was probably troubling her. Stalky. Or the lack of Stalky. Usually, Wolf would put her beloved weapon right beside her while she ate. Stalky's abscense was clearly upsetting to her. Kipo wanted to find out what happened.
"So, Wolf... What happened to Stalky?"
Wolf's breath caught in her throat. Yup. Definitely upsetting.
"It was Emilia... She-, she broke it..." Wolf mumbled under her breath and Kipo gasped.
That monster.
Tears were growing in Wolf's eyes at the memory of her beloved Stalky being broken into thousands of tiny pieces.
She had been able to rely on Stalky for several years. It had protected her when she felt threatened and it had helped her catch food when she was hungry.
Everyone in her life had hurt her st least once, but Stalky hadn't. It had acted as a loyal best friend and now there was no more Stalky. Her hands felt empty now when they didn't have to constantly hold her best friend. She used to cuddle it as a child because she had nobody else.
It probably seemed stupid to everyone else, but she missed Stalky.
The second that Wolf sniffled in sadness, Kipo pulled her into a comforting hug. Wolf didn't have the energy to fight back, but went limp in Kipo's arms.
"We'll find Emilia, and we'll get revenge for what she did to Stalky. Okay?" Kipo promised and Wolf nodded into her shoulder.
They stayed like that for a while. And if Wolf let a tear or two fall down her cheeks, nobody knew.
Nobody but Stalky, who was watching her from above.
