Don't assume or you know what will happen

Summary:

Stiles gets cornered by a Warlock in a warehouse without his pack. But just when it looks bleak things get interrupted by a very strange man.

Notes:

I am American. I repeat I am American and this has not been beta’d by a Brit or anyone. But I have been a big Whovian since the 9th Doctor. I’m writing this having just watched The Star Beast a few days ago but this isn’t connected beyond it being a Tennant!Doctor. Oh, and that the sonic screwdriver is a bit more on the powerful side of things.

Prompt- Missed a good deal

Work Text:

Stiles dodged behind a pole as another fireball blast scorched the wall near him. His phone was one of the early causalities in the fight. He hoped he'd managed to send the panic signal before it was destroyed.

“COME OUT! SHOW YOURSELF AND I WILL GO EASY ON YOU LITTLE SPARK! I WILL EVEN PROMISE TO KILL YOUR PACK QUICKLY!”

Stiles bit his tongue hard enough it almost bled to keep from replying. He had gotten better at curbing his sarcastic replies over the years. No matter what the pack liked to think.

“Oy! What’s going on here?” In the doorway to the warehouse stood a tall lanky man in a blue suit with brown gravity defying hair.

“Oh perfect, an innocent.” The warlock grabbed the man by the throat and squeezed. “Come out now, Spark or this innocent human dies.”

Stiles was about to reveal himself and try fighting long enough to stall. He'd be laying all his hope for the rest of the pack to show up before his strength fully failed him, he was running on empty.

“Er, sorry, but there is a problem with your offer in the exchange.” The man gasped out but seemed surprisingly calm.

“Oh? And what would that be?” The Warlock kept his eyes on the area he was sure the Spark was likely cornered.

“You said innocent human when you made your threat. That would be most incorrect.”

“Are you trying to expect me to care you’re not an innocent? A human life is still something the bleeding heart Spark will care about.”

“No, well, alright innocent has not been applied to me in a very long time. No, I was referring to your other assumption.”

Stiles couldn’t figure out what this guy’s game was but for now he’d stay hidden while trying to find something he could use as a weapon. He wasn't confident he could cast a single spell with how exhausted he was feeling.

“You aren’t a wolf so don’t even try it.” The Warlock was much less amused by this interruption now. “I am going to kill him now spark.”

“Wolf?” The man asked puzzled. “I wasn’t trying to say I’m a wolf. OH! You mean like the royal family. No, I’m not a werewolf.”

Royal family? Did a seriously crazy guy just interrupt a Warlock trying to murder him? Stiles quietly found a crowbar and picked it up. He was going to have act soon.

“What at are you talking about?”

“I’m not human. You made the assumption I’m human. But I am not.” The man was no longer gasping for air as the Warlock had loosened his grip slightly in bewilderment.

“You aren’t a Spark. And you aren’t wolf. Druid’s are still human.”

“Oh, I’m certainly not one of those balance focused monks.” The man slid his hand into his pocket searching for something. “But that doesn’t mean I’m human.”

“Then who the fuck are you?” The Warlock shook the strange man in frustration.

“I’m the Doctor. I’m a Time Lord. I’m from the planet Gallifrey in the Constellation of Kasterborous.” The man pulled a little silver device from his pocket. “And I have very useful pockets.”

The Doctor did a twisting move getting out of the grasp of the Warlock. He slammed the silver device on the ground and a blue force field surrounded the Warlock on all four sides.

“You can come out now. The force field will work for at least another hour unless I do something. It will give you time to explain the situation to me. It has been a long time since I’ve been involved with the supernatural elements on Earth. I think the last time might have been helping Desdemona Hale plant a Nemeton to claim her territory.”

Stiles kept his grip on the crowbar but lowered it to his side as he came out from behind the pole. His mind was racing with all the surprise twists that had happened in the last few minutes. Most importantly the man in front of him wasn’t actually a man but an alien.

Before he could speak though the other door to the warehouse shattered inward as Derek and Peter came tearing in while in beta form. They both growled looking around the warehouse for Stiles. But both wolves froze in surprise seeing the strange way the Warlock was being contained.

“Stiles, did you learn a new spell and not tell me?” Derek was worried about his mate and didn’t like him practicing magic without a buddy just in case he overdid it again. One ambulance ride because his neighbor found Stiles unconscious in the backyard was enough for a lifetime in Derek’s opinion.

“Not my doing.”

“Wait, where is the one helping the Warlock?” Peter asked listening for another threat.

“Huh? He is working alone.”

“No, I’m hearing more heart beats than bodies in the room.”

“Oh, dreadfully sorry, that would be my fault. I have two hearts.” The Doctor waved his hand bringing the Hales attention to him.

“What are you talking about?” Peter tried sniffing the guy and reared back in surprise at the very non-human scent he was carrying.

“Apparently he is an alien called a Time Lord.” Stiles shrugged at the look both Hales were giving him. “Hey, he had a silver force field device that last I knew nobody on this planet could create. And it wasn’t made with magic. So that leaves alien.”

“Why are you here?” Derek fought the urge to immediately start checking over his mate. First he needed to make sure there wasn’t a new threat to deal with.

“Where is here?”

“Planet Earth, United States, California, Beacon Hills.” Stiles was bouncing internally at the idea of aliens being real. He was also actually vibrating just slightly on the outside too.

“Odd. I wonder why she brought me here. As I said, the last time I dealt with the supernatural was helping Desdemona Hale plant a Nemeton to claim the area.” The Doctor frowned looking over at the Hales. “I am guessing that you are her decedents?”

“Desdemona Hale was the first to live in Beacon Hills in our family but that was hundreds of years ago.” Peter wanted to ask this creature a million questions if he really was that old.

“How is the tree doing?”

“Deaton told my sister it was evil and had to be cut down. So the tree is mostly dead these days.”

“Excuse me!?! It was cut down. Oh this must be why I was brought here.” The Doctor grabbed something else from his pocket that he added to the force field. In a moment the Warlock was unconscious. “He’ll be in stasis now until we decide how to handle that. But I must insist on seeing the Nemeton at once. It is impossible for a Nemeton to become corrupted without a strong outside force.”

“How do you know that? I couldn’t find any books on it. And Deaton never lets me read his.” Stiles was actually bouncing up and down in excitement until Derek put his hand on his should. “Sorry, forgot my meds this morning.”

“I have a book you may read on it in the TARDIS library.”

“TARDIS?” Peter had never really trusted Deaton but he wasn’t sure they should trust this unknown either.

“My ship. Parked her nearby. She was the one that brought me here for some reason.” The Doctor pressed a button.

There was a loud mechanical wheezing noise. Quickly adding to it there was a strange wind inside the warehouse that started too. In the blink of eye there was a large blue box with Police Box written on it.

“What the fuck?”

“My ship. Come on. I can pilot us directly to the Nemeton now that I know why I’m here.”

“How are we all going to fit in there?” Derek asked very skeptical but it was a bit hard to ignore the possible proof of aliens in front of him. He also noticed the double heartbeat after Peter said something.

“It’s bigger on the inside.” The Doctor flashed them his most charming smile.

Stiles just grabbed Derek’s hand and eagerly ran into the TARDIS.

“HOLY SHIT! THIS IS HUGE!”

The Doctor gestured for Peter to go on in. The other man gave him a scrutinizing look before walking into the strange box. He was shocked that it really was so much bigger inside.

The Doctor floated the Warlock behind him. Once he reached the inside the ship transported the Warlock to different room with extra devices to help him stay in stasis.

“Alright, next stop the Nemeton.” The Doctor pressed a couple of buttons and pulled a couple of levers. “ALLONS-Y!”
