Nicky knew that Joe would be sleeping. It was, after all, after 11.30 PM. That was why Nicky was trying very hard not to wake Joe when Nicky entered their flat, trying to avoid stepping on all the old boards that squeaked. When Nicky walked past the sofa, he tucked Joe under the blanket before kissing him on the forehead. Then Nicky took a shower as quietly as possible before putting on his pyjamas. While eating the sandwich Joe had made for Nicky, Nicky looked at Joe and thought he looked so cute with his messy curls. It was there Nicky decided to let Joe sleep on the sofa. Just as Nicky walked past the sofa again, he stepped on one of the boards that squeaked, which made him freeze on the spot. Nicky didn't move before he was sure he hadn't woken Joe.
Joe: "It's very sweet the way you are not trying to wake me up. Have you been a ninja in a former life?"
Nicky jumped on the spot while letting out a small scream of surprise, when he heard Joe's voice.
Nicky: "Joe, you... Don't do that."
Joe: "Didn't mean to scare you. I just wanted to make sure you were heading in the right direction."
Joe lifted the blanket as an invitation, but Nicky crossed his arms.
Nicky: "You were awake the entire time. Why didn't you say anything?"
Joe: "Because I love to watch you move. Not in a creepy way, but a cute one."
Nicky: "I should let you sleep on the sofa alone tonight. As a punishment for scaring the life out of me."
Joe: "If you get over here, I will make it up to you by kissing you."
Nicky could never stay mad at Joe for long, so he walked over to the sofa as slowly as possible before getting under the blanket.
Nicky: "We are getting too old to make out on the sofa as teenagers."
Joe: "We are not. And I will prove it to you."
Joe leaned down and kissed Nicky. Yes, they did make out as teenagers, but they didn't mind it at all. Kissing each other was one of the best things in the world. They kissed until they fell asleep in their favourite position. What they had forgotten all about was that the sofa was a terrible place to sleep because of the springs, but that was a problem for tomorrow, where Joe would suggest a couple massages, while Nicky would suggest a new sofa as solutions to dealing with their old sofa.
