The morning after he’d been left for dead, Grian had no choice but to dust the sand off and keep moving.
Betraying the gang was a risk he’d chosen to take, and as every muscle in his body screamed in agony, Grian could only taste the bitter bite of defeat. That and blood. Warm, metallic blood. By some miracle he’d survived, and he didn’t want to squander that miracle any longer, so he pushed ahead on his own two feet along the dusty dirt road. His coat was torn. His pants were torn. He was horseless, weaponless, and foodless, unaware what town he’d been dumped by. But he pushed ahead.
