Work Text:

X Agent was bleating in joy as he finished his cold glass of cider. He didn't know if it was his first, nor his last. One thing is for concern: X Agent is drunk, very drunk. Sheep, who watched his husband have several glasses, hated it when he gets drunk and was having none of its consequences. “Hey... My sweet, sweet Sheep...” X Agent cried out, “I could use another drink...” Sheep sighed heavily, “You had MORE than enough...” “Nonsense...” X Agent laughed, “We could do this all... Day...” “It's nearly 12 in the morning...” Sheep corrected before giving a tired yawn. X Agent gave a distorted bleat, “Oops... My baaa-aaaad...” “Come on, X Agent... We're going home...” Sheep announced before giving the money to the bar tender, who too was annoyed by X Agent's drunkness, before carrying X Agent on his back. “Home...?!” X Agent gasped, “Sheepy, we're just getting started...” “X Agent, you're drunk, I'm tired, we need to get home and rest...” Sheep reassured. “Resty rest...” X Agent chuckled, “Sheepy... We could drink together all day as sheep in love... PURE LOVE, I TELL YA!” Sheep frowned, “As much as I love you, I hate it when you're like this... You're going home, whether you like it or not...” X Agent groaned heavily in defeat, “Alright... Fine... We'll go home...” “That's what I'd like to hear.” Sheep said before making his way to the bus stop and catch one to reach his intended destination.

When waiting for the bus, X Agent began to bleat out non-sense as his drinks' effects were getting worse. “Sheep... I then told this flying robot man tractor to go fuck himself before I kicked him with a lollipop...” X Agent told, “Wasn't that funny...?” “It would've been funny, X Agent...” Sheep sighed, not taking what the drunk sheep said seriously. “Sheep... Why do I need a rest?” X Agent asked. “You're drunk...” Sheep repeated. “'Drunk'?! Who are you calling 'drunk'...?” X Agent gasped. Sheep was losing his patience but tried to stay calm. “X Agent... You had too much to drink, and you're sick.” “I feel don't sick...” X Agent laughed, “I feel fine...” All of a sudden, X Agent felt pain inside of him and felt the need to sit down. “Are you feeling alright?” Sheep asked. “Okay... You maybe right about feeling sick... I feel so much pain inside of me... But I'll get over it... With a few more drinks.” “X Agent, no more drinks! They're causing this! The only way you're going to feel better is having a rest!” Sheep told. “You worry too much, Sheep...” X Agent informed. “I rather be too worried than do nothing...” Sheep sighed, “I'm worried for you, X Agent... I really am...” X Agent began to feel a little guilty about what he said to Sheep and looked away from him. At last, the two sheep saw a light blue bus moving towards them and, with no time wasted, stopped and open it's doors. Sheep picked up X Agent again and carried him to the bus. The Bus Driver and the Pigeon (who was learning how bus driving works) saw how X Agent was drunk and couldn't help but share their comments. “My, my... I've never seen a sheep THIS drunk before!” the Bus Driver gasped. “Thank hot dogs he isn't driving!” the Pigeon added, “Otherwise he'll be breaking several laws!” Sheep was annoyed by the two's insertions, “Can you mind your own business? We just want to get home! X Agent is drunk, but he'll feel better eventually!” The Bus Driver nodded (though not understanding what Sheep said), “Right...” He then released the breaks and drove into the dark midnight fog that lies beyond.

Hours had went past since their return home, no earlier than 5, and Sheep was woken up by the sound of X Agent crying softly. Feeling concerned, Sheep hugged him and held him up-close. “X Agent... What's wrong?” He asked. “Sheep... I'm... So sorry... About last night...” X Agent apologized. “It's okay, X Agent... You were just drunk, it happens to the best of us...” Sheep comforted, “Though I think you should drink less...” “I know, Sheep... I should drink less...” X Agent sighed, “But I keep forgetting about it... Why do I always forget so many simple things... Why, Sheep?!” “I know how you feel...” Sheep soothed, “The best thing to do is to learn from your mistakes and move on... Trust me, it'll do you good...” X Agent couldn't help but sigh and hold onto Sheep for comfort, “Sheep... Do you... Still love me?” “Of course I still love you, silly!” Sheep laughed, “A night like that would never make us separate apart! I will always love you, no matter what...” X Agent gave a little smile, “Thank you... And I love you too, Sheep...” Soon, the two sheep were hugging each other and began to admire about how lucky to be together, before growing tired and falling back to sleep, to prepare themselves for another day as sheep in the Big City.

Notes:

For those who are wondering why the Bus Driver and the Pigeon are in this story, it's because I headcanon the Pigeon books taking in the same universe and location as Sheep in the Big City, due to them having similar art styles and characters as well as being made by the same person.
