Preparing Midgard and Spreading Chaos

Summary:

Anthony DiNozzo is just an undercover identity for Loki. He has come to make sure that MidGard (Earth) will be able to defend themselves against the Chitauri when they come and if he sows a little chaos while he's on Earth, well that's just expected, right?

Notes:

This is for Day 1: Holiday Lights/Outside Decor from the Happy Holiday Challenge on lj.

I've recently gotten into reading Loki/Tony Stark, which has led to me writing some interesting fics involving Loki. This is one where Tony DiNozzo is actually Loki and of course he woos Kort since that's one of my preferred pairings these days. I hope you all enjoy.

This year in an attempt to get myself writing when muse was like I'm tired of gen and I don't know about Tibbs, I let muse do whatever they want. So you will find a lot of crossover stories featuring Tony with someone from the crossover verse. There may also be some rare Tony/NCIS character stories as well. A few gen stories may slip in too. Basically there is no rhyme or reason to the stories posted this holiday other than muse got a bug up her ass and decided to write it.

Additionally, while I will try to have at least one story every day, it is entirely possible that some days will have no stories as RL hasn't been very nice to me this year. However, in exchange for maybe missing some days other days will have multiple stories (starting with today which will have at least 2 stories posted and possibly more if I get them finished after work).

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Tony had a secret identity. Just one, you ask? Well only one that was actually his real alias.

Over the years he'd gained many undercover personas, but his real name was actually Loki Liesmith, or rather that was his preferred moniker. He'd taken on the form of one Anthony DiNozzo to determine whether Earth was ready for major extra terrestrial conflict or not. He'd been sadly disappointed that very few if any citizens would be prepared to fight an alien army.

He found himself fascinated with the movies that were widely available in America. They did absolutely nothing to ready the common citizen for war with beings from other realms. In fact, they almost did the opposite. They tended to paint aliens as a cute species not interested in dominating Earth.

It annoyed him greatly, especially since he knew there would be an army headed their way soon. So far he'd only found a couple of worthy humans. The first, a genius inventor known as Tony Stark that Loki would love to defenestrate. The other was a CIA agent, who was actively working with arms dealers to make sure that Earth was ready for anything that came their way.

He found the bald CIA agent to be intriguing. The man didn't have the innovation that Stark did, but he knew his weapons. He saved the most powerful for himself and sold the rest to a different highest bidder each time. Loki didn't know if the man was purposefully arming the world or not, but either way he helped to spread them around so that they would be available wherever they might be needed in the future, like in the face of an invasion perhaps.

Loki considered telling Kort what a good job he was doing, but doubted the man would appreciate the sentiment from an undercover NCIS agent. Loki had let Madam Director think she had control over him and that seducing Jeanne Benoit was at her orders, but in reality Tony had plans of his own. He'd considered staging a widespread appearance of other spacefarers as a practice battle, but ultimately decided against it.

None of the staff in the federal government were prepared to handle it, with the possible exception of SHIELD and Homeland. He'd yet to get enough hooks in either one to truly be able to determine efficacy against aliens. Instead, he decided to have a little fun as the human holiday of Christmas approached.

Everyone in the DC area should beware, though, of course he didn't tell anyone of the truly terrible prank he had planned. Shepard's plot was weak at best. Kort's wasn't much better. Tony could use both to cause massive amounts of chaos, however.

He started by staging the death of Anthony DiNozzo, not that he told Kort, Jeanne, or the Frog that. He just joined them in their vehicle and acted like the human they believed him to be. Or well if they looked closely they might notice that the color of his eyes had changed to a glowing green instead of the lighter green or hazel eyes he'd been masquerading with before.

Of course, the explosion sufficiently distracted them all. It was an extra bonus to watch Kort's eyes widen in surprise since that wasn't the car he'd intended to target. He loved the chaos and wondered if the CIA agent was smart enough to figure out who had changed the bomb location.

He could practically hear Madam Director freaking out and pulling in the MCRT when she found out about it. He had made sure that Ducky would identify his body as Anthony DiNozzo, Jr. After all, he didn't have much longer before war would come to this world in the form of the Chitauri. Plus, he could always resurrect Tony DiNozzo if he ever needed the cover again for some reason.

He would allow himself on last Christmas with the interesting CIA agent and then all bets would be off. As they arrived at the Frog's house, he smirked at Rene Benoit. He could tell the man fully intended to warn him off his daughter. This was guaranteed to be an amusing conversation.

He waited for Kort and Jeanne to head into the house before smirking at Rene. "Don't worry. I have no designs on your daughter."

"I know you don't, Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo, Jr. You will let my daughter down gently or I'll kill you."

"I'm afraid I can't do that," Loki spoke the words, but there was very little sincerity in them. He was absolutely loving this.

"You want to make an enemy of me?" Rene snarled. "I assure you, I'm not someone people wish to anger."

"And yet the CIA holds your leash these days. How is that working out for you?" Loki raised a sardonic eyebrow at the older man.

"How do you know that?"

Loki bared his teeth in a facsimile of a smile. "I have my ways. You need not worry about your daughter. It is your CIA Liaison that I'm after, but I'm afraid switching from a romantic liaison with Jean to Kort will hurt her feelings quite a lot." Loki paused and offered a little more sincerely, "I am sorry about that. The only comfort I can provide is the knowledge that the original plan would have been far more painful for your daughter."

"How can you say that?" Rene demanded.

"Simple. I know what Director Shepard wanted to happen." Loki allowed his expression to darken into the look that many people had told him made him look crazy.

"You will regret this," Rene warned.

Loki saw right through his bluster. "You know I don't think I will." Loki smirked and walked past the Frog to see about catching his CIA agent.

"A word if I may, Trent."

"Of course." Kort stepped away from Jeanne and moved to leave the room.

"Ah. I think you misunderstood. I would like a word with you, not the lovely Benoit."

Kort blinked and then gestured for Tony to precede him. Loki's eyes glittered with mischief. As he passed Jeanne, he whispered, "It is as I told you. I suggest you comfort your father now."

"I hope you're right."

"Of course, I am. Be prepared, Miss Benoit. Your time will come."

Kort raised an eyebrow over the exchange, but didn't say anything as the two of them exited the living room and headed into the kitchen. "What did you wish to talk with me about, DiNozzo?"

"I have a proposition for you."

"I'm not interested."

Loki smirked. "I think after I'm done you'll find my offer only makes sense."

Trent gestured for Tony to go on.

Loki then proceeded to explain the coming war in terms that Kort would understand. He didn't bother to try and make it seem like he was actually the NCIS agent he'd been. While he talked, he used his magic to make some updates to the outside décor.

"Who are you?"

"You can call me, Loki."

"Loki?" Trent gasped. "Like the Norse God?"

"Exactly so." Loki smirked.

"What does a God want with me?"

"A nice Christmas before the world ends."

"And you came to me?" Kort raised an eyebrow.

"You're intriguing. You don't do what you're told."

"How do you know?"

Loki grinned. "I know everything about you. I know about every single body you've killed for legitimate reasons and not."

"Impossible. No one knows that."

Loki noticed the slight widening of Trent's eyes, but didn't say anything to the other man about his obvious fear. "Would you like me to recount each and every one of them? Should I start with the oldest or the newest?"

"Whichever you prefer." Kort crossed his arms and raised his eyebrow in a dare of sorts.

Loki found himself impressed with the other's refusal to give in to his fear. "Well let's see you killed Sandra last week. I think it was Mike the week before that. Then there was that unexpected one that was actually collateral damage from your last mission involving the other CIA agent playing an arms dealer. What was his name again? Charles, Harrow, I believe."

"Harrow wasn't my fault. That was yours." Kort retorted.

"Perhaps, but he wouldn't have been running from me if you hadn't set him up."

"Who the hell are you?" Trent narrowed his eyes.

"I told you that already. Do keep up, Trent. If you need further proof, look outside."

Kort glanced out the kitchen window and stared in shock. "How the hell did you do that?"

"Just a bit of magic. Nothing to worry about. It will be gone by morning. Just one night is all I'm asking."

"Do I get to kill you when we're done?" Trent offered in a voice full of sarcasm.

"You can try." Loki shook his head. "You won't succeed, but you can try. The invasion will provide plenty of battles to keep you occupied if that's your thing."

Kort shook his head and exited outside. Loki followed him and watched as Trent reached out and touched the newly decorated Christmas tree. Loki purposefully chose to keep the yard free of snow or ice, but he'd added a few trees, some fancy light displays that had no electronics involved, and his personal favorite, a veritable army of green elves.

"I don't believe it."

"Come now, I thought you knew more than those around you."

Trent scoffed. "You'll forgive me if I don't normally believe in Norse deities."

"What more proof do you need?"

"None." Kort stared directly into Loki's eyes. "What's in this for me?"

"Sex with the God of Mischief. You need something more?"

"You erase all evidence that I was involved in any of the killings you know about and you have a deal." Kort challenged him.

"Done." Loki allowed the human to think that he'd won. After all, such a concession was nothing to him and would make the CIA agent all the more malleable. "Come on, then." He pulled Kort closer to him and dragged him into a kiss, teleporting both of them to Trent's apartment while the human was distracted. They had a long night full of pleasure and pain ahead of them and he didn't want to wait any longer.

After completely wrecking the human with pleasure, Loki disappeared back into the void. The Chitauri would come soon enough and then he'd see if he'd done enough to prepare Earth for war. He knew that both the CIA and NCIS had experienced a bit of upheaval courtesy of him. He only hoped that it would be enough. Regardless of how the battle went, Loki would remember his time as Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo, Jr. fondly.

Notes:

It's the time of year for holiday cheer and with that comes holiday advent stories from me. I do not have near as many stories finished as I wanted to have done by this time, so I can't guarantee anything other than there will be at least one more story posted today (after I get off work instead of before I go to work like this one). Also, pairings will be weird and I totally understand if they're not to your tastes. I hope people will enjoy them anyway.

For any authors that want to chat and/or are looking for a place where they can toss plot ideas around and get input from people, you can come join my discord server that is specifically geared towards writing/encouraging people to write and authors. The invite link is here. If you're not an author, but want to chat with me about writing/stories or anything else you are welcome to join. I reserve the right to boot you from my server if all you do is pester me about updates, however. *grin* Really anyone who wants to talk about writing and/or plot ideas for various stories is welcome to join.

Also, Drakonyashka has translated a couple of my works into Russian. Tutelage and Imbue. Go support them.
