Work Text:
Phil’s clinic is neutral ground. This is something universally known. He will heal anyone, if they pay what he asks for. Mostly it’s small favours. He healed the Warden in exchange for a promise to never end up in Pandora. He healed the Dreamer in exchange for keeping his clinic a neutral ground. He healed the Captain because she got hurt protecting a kid. He healed the Blood God because Techno is his friend and he likes helping him.
Phil watches the heroes pour in. Notably, there are no heroes he recognizes. No heroes who still owe him. He raises his hands and smiles at them. Philza never wears a mask. He is a healer, not a villain. There is no need to keep his identity secret. The heroes have their weapons drawn, but look at ease. They don’t think Phil is a threat.
“Philza Craft. You are under arrest for aiding a villain. Do not resist.”
Heroes don’t care when Philza heals vigilantes or small-time villains. They don’t care because they know he only does so if he doesn’t condemn what they do. Techno, the Blood God, is different. Because the Blood God is the most dangerous villain in the whole country, with contacts to the other side of the world and skilled goons on his side, who support his every move. Philza knows this. He only grins.
“What proof do you have?”
One hero scoffs, but another answers.
“We have surveillance footage of the Blood God entering the clinic on multiple occasions. We also have reasons to believe that your support goes past mere healing.”
Phil sighs. It’s true, he doesn’t just heal Techno. He’s his best friend, after all. But it seems the heroes don’t know the whole story. Because the Blood God has an exclusive weapons supplier. Someone who works with nobody else, who specializes in explosives and big projects. Someone who is only known as the Angel of Death, because everything he builds is deadly.
Philza knows the heroes don’t deem him a threat. He is a healer, after all. His power may heal someone, but it’s draining. He has no secondary offensive power, not even a defensive one. He has no visible weapons. It’s understandable that the heroes don’t take him seriously. Too bad then, that he isn’t only armed, but knows how to interact with most weapons. Too bad that he spars with Techno regularly and even wins, on occasion. Too bad that the heroes are as relaxed as they are.
With a flick of his wrist, thin darts fly from the gloves Phil is wearing, and three heroes drop to the floor, stunned by the poison. The other three heroes finally realize that Philza isn’t defenceless at all and start to get ready to attack, but Phil is faster. He darts forward and grabs some small disks from his desk. One gets slapped on each person and then activated. A burst of gas gets released and the last three heroes go down as well.
Phil sighs as he looks down at the six downed heroes. It won’t take too long for backup to check in. He grabs a short sword from under his desk and goes around, easily stabbing the heroes and feeling their life drain away through his powers. He could safe them, of course, but he doesn’t feel like it. He wipes the blade clean with a piece of cloth he has laying around. He pulls out a communicator he build and calls Techno. He’ll need to move.
-----
“We got everything?”
Phil nods as he looks at his old clinic and Techno groans.
“Finally. Really, Phil, you’re the only person who’d take the bookshelves when you need to move.”
Phil rolls his eyes and hits his best friend on the shoulder.
“Oh come on, mate. You know those books are good.”
Techno grins.
“Whatever you say, Phil.”
Phil pulls out a device and hits a button, watching as the clinic shakes with a loud boom before going up in flames. They stand for a second, knowing nobody will see them on the roof they’re on right now. Well, for now, at least. Phil stretches his arms over his head, cracking his back. Techno snorts.
“Old man.”
“Shut.”
They grin and turn to leave. Phil adjusts the straps of the artificial wings he has bound to his back.
“Remind me to thank Ranboo and Niki for helping transport the things, mate. Maybe I could cook something-?”
Techno laughs, the shadows around him pulling closer.
“Oh please, you’d poison them. Maybe offer to build them something. I heard Nemesis might appreciate a more discreet gasmask and Enderwalker might need a new weapon.”
Phil grins. Officially, Enderwalker and Nemesis have nothing to do with the Blood God or the Angel of Death. Nemesis has a tendency to light government buildings on fire, which leads many to believe her power to have to do with fire when in truth, she can breathe underwater. Enderwalker is a teleporter who people are split on calling a villain and vigilante.
“Bet I’m faster than you, mate.”
Phil folds down his flightgoggles and runs straight towards the edge of the roof before Techno can really comprehend what he said. A snort from behind him tells him that Techno is running now, too. Phil leaps off of the roof, letting his metal wings catch him. It took a lot of practice to be able to fly with them, but Phil can now fly as well as if he was born with wings.
A short look beneath him shows Techno, jumping from roof to roof with shadows wrapped around him, guiding him to run faster, jump higher. His eyes are glowing red, something Phil picks up on even though this pair of goggles doesn’t enhance his vision. Techno looks up and runs even faster, leaving red footprints in his wake that glow faintly in the darkness of the night.
Phil laughs out loud and flaps his wings in a practised motion, forcing himself to go faster. He overtakes Techno and the two of them race towards the edge of the city, where they know Ranboo will pick them up and teleport them to where Niki is waiting, likely keeping an eye on the news already. Phil will have to figure out what he wants to do, now that his clinic is gone. But for now, he only flies, faster and faster, Techno directly underneath him, leaving a burning building in their wake.
