Work Text:

The green in that park was insane, but nothing like those eyes looking at eli all along.

It was a simple park, near the miyagi-do, now miyagi-fang, dojo, so it was pretty cool to go there after practice.

Not many of the miyagi-fang students went there after practice tho, mostly because they were all a little tired after it and wanted to go home as fast as possible to rest for all night.

To be honest, all of them did think like that.

Go home and rest, the next day practise again and rest again.

Well, all of them besides robby keene and eli moskowitz.

They already destroyed cobra kai so they had nothing to worry about, so why spending their time at home?

They were safe.

Nothing could harm them again.

Cobra kai could and would never harm them again, or at least the hoped so.

They used to run home after practice cause they were scared that cobra kai could harm them if they stayed to long outside, but now that it was over, why would they keep doing that?

So, the actual point of all this is that robby and eli wanted to be free to do whatever they were afraid to do not even a month before.

They were never gonna fear cobra kai, or any other asshole, again.

But maybe going to that park together wasn’t really the best of ideas.

They were 2 complete different people, so were their hobbies and ideas to spend the time.

When they go to that park, robby stays on the grass reading a book and chilling, while the other boy can’t stay still.

Eli would do everything except staying sat on the grass.

That day he was practising a stupid kick sensei chozen just showed them.

Robby swears he saw eli fall something like 10 times.

But eli would just say he didn’t, so i guess the person they’ll tell the story to will never know who’s lying and who isn’t.

The fact is that after minutes of falling and can’t manage to do that kick eli got tired of it and decided that annoy robby was a better way to spend his time.

The other boy was sitting on the grass with his back leaning on a bench near there.

There was no one at the park since it was very late and the sun almost went down.

Eli could see robby’s hands moving the yellow pages very fast and how his hair was moved by the wind to the left, and all he could think about was that scenario for 5 minutes straight.

All he could think about was robby on the green grass reading a book at some stupid park.

Should he talk to him?

Robby was wearing a dark purple hoodie, a pair of black sport trousers and of course his black converse, while eli was wearing some stupid green shirt with blue jeans and some white sneakers.

He hated that shirt.

It was of a colour that he didn’t like at all, a stupid teal coloured shirt, that he couldn’t wait to change as fast as he went home.

“I hate this fucking shirt” he said out loud.

He didn’t mean to, and to be honest at first he didn’t realize saying that.

He only did when robby closed to book and turned his head to the other boy, his eyes looking at eli’s shirt.

Eli got surprised when the other boy left a laugh escape his mouth.

“Why are you laughing” eli asked immediately.

“Nothing don’t worry” robby said and he stopped laughing immediately.

Oh no.

Now he wants to know.

Robby turned back his head, ready to start reading again and leave Eli alone for the next 4 hours.

No.

No.

No.

Keep talking.

Robby, keep talking to me.

Eli sat next to robby, he didn't even know why he did it, and he put an hand on the other boy's book to not let him open it.

He doesn't know why he did that either.

"Now i wanna know" eli said smiling.

"Fine" robby rolled his eyes, still smiling tho.

He put his book down on the green grass and started talking to the other boy.

"So...something like an year ago i used to work in this supermarket to help my mom with some shit and i had to wear a shirt of the same ugly color, and seeing you with a shirt of the same colour, like you work there, is just so funny"

"Why is it funny"

"'Cause it looks like you work in that supermarket, idiot. Are you even listening to me?"

No, he wasn't.

He was in fact staring at those wonderful green eyes that looked just like his shirt.

It took him so long to realize he had to say something.

"How ago was it?"

"I told you one year ago"

Oh, he did?

Robby's lips are way so red.

Probably tory's lipstick that lasted from before practice.

Eli wished...never matter.

"So you were how old?" He asked.

He could've just find out himself removing one year from robby's actual age, which was 17.

Well, 18 on 2nd February.

But he was to busy to do that.

Some green eyes were staring at him right into his soul, how was he suppose to think.

And no, is not a question.

"Sixteen"

It seems like a long ago now thinking about it.

Time is weird.

You wake up a day and you're older than you remember being the day before.

One day you hate someone, the next day you just want to stay near them for all the rest of your life.

One day you hate robby keene with all your life, the next day you find yourself wanting to kiss him.

What.

"Seems like a long ago now" robby said.

Eli didn't hear it tho.

He just heard the word ago.

What did robby say?

What should he say?

Just say some random shit, eli.

"Time, curious time" he said.

What?

How was robby suppose to understand what was eli even saying.

"I know right? Seems like it was yesterday it all but it's been months"

Oh, he actually understands.

"Remember our first all valley?" Eli asked chuckling.

"How could i forget it" robby said joining the little laugh.

In their first all valley Eli pushed robby, injuring the other boy.

He regrets it every day.

They were now laughing remembering how stupid they both were at the time.

"We hated eachothers so much" eli said after the laugh got a little more chill.

"Hey i didn't hate you" robby said, damn serious now.

Wait he didn't?

Eli spent his whole summer before the school fight thinking that robby hated him even before he made fun of his haircut at the all valley, which is the main event that got eli pushing him.

But now he finds out robby was just...joking?

Were there clues he didn't see?

"Well but i hated all the hawk shit, that's for sure" he then added laughing.

Oh, eli knew that.

Robby never couldn't stand eli calling himself "hawk" and that haircut he had.

To be honest, not even eli couldn't stand that.

It made him a bully and an asshole.

He was never gonna be that type of person ever again.

"We didn't even met before that now that i think about it" Eli said making again the mistake to look at the other boy's eyes again.

"No, we didn't" robby said, smiling.

A true smile.

"But we were always somehow related after that" Eli added smiling back.

"It's funny how we still couldn't get along the next all valley either" robby said.

"Oh the one where i kicked your ass?"

"Shut up Eli, at least now people know who you are"

"Don't worry, people still say i LOOK like that all valley champion"

And once again they found themselves laughingz

They always use the all valley card to make the other laugh, 'cause even if it was suppose to be a big deal for both the dojos they were in at the time, they now couldn't care less about it.

"But yeah, that one. The only time when time didn't matter, cause we stayed the same" robby said.

They stayed silent for a while.

A long while honestly.

Robby was looking at something near a tree at the park, Eli was looking at Robby.

Time, mystical time.

The whole rivalty with robby for the past 2 years almost was so stupid now that Eli thinks about it.

It cut him open, but was now healing him fine.

Eli couldn't see a happy future without robby being somehow there.

In any version of his future, robby appeared.

They both made some big mistakes and hurt eachothers.

But all that mattered now was that it was over.

Something wrapped all of his past mistakes in barbed wire, chains around his demons, wool to brave the seasons.

One single thread of gold tied me to the green eyes boy who was sitting next to him.

And it's cool, being with robby.

He would stay with robby all days if he could.

"Robby" Eli called.

"What"

"I think we were meant to meet eachothers" Eli said in a whisper.

"Cringe" robby said laughing like he never did.

"Ugh, i'm being serious!!" Eli rolled his eyes.

"Fine" he said trying to stop laughing.

"I think that too" robby said after he managed to.

"Isn't it just so pretty to think about it?"

"About what?"

"All along there was some Invisible string"

Eli put his hand on robby's left knee.

"Tying you to me?" Robby said covering Eli's hand with his own.

"Yeah" a whisper.

He wanted to kiss the green eyes boy.

He needed to kiss the green eyes boy.

He should kiss the green eyes boy.

Now.

But when he was just about to, someone called robby and this last removed his eyes from Eli's one.

"Hello?" Robby said.

"Oh yeah, i was with hawk sorry. I'm coming" he said again after a while, just to then close the call and put the phone back in his jacket pocket.

He called him Hawk.

He never called him Hawk.

"Sorry it was my dad, i have to go home" robby said getting up and getting his book from the ground.

"Oh okay, see you tomorrow then"

"Yeah bye" and then robby left.

He called him hawk.

He had to do something.

"Wait..." eli called.

"Yea?"

"You never call me hawk"

"Oh right sorry"

What was he even apologising for.

That was alright.

"I really have to go, i also have to go on a date with tory at 8 pm"

Oh.

That's what it actually was all along.

"Well, good luck!!"

"Thank you, bye eli" robby smiled and then walked away.

"I wish i was tory" eli whispered.

"What?"

"Nothing Robby"
