It was worse than any of them had imagined. It was like Nagisa had disappeared off the face of the earth. No one knew what happened, not his mother, not the police, not any of the many assassins they called and begged to help them. Nothing. Until finally, finally Takaoka sent them that message. Nothing but a time, day and location. An abandoned factory, half falling down. They’d assembled in front of it, ready for any attack, any weapon, anything. Except what they got. Except Nagisa, thin, filthy, and covered in blood. Except Nagisa, clawing at his own face, his own skin. Except that thing that wasn’t really Nagisa. Not anymore.
