Felix shivered, biting back millions of complaints, as he stumbled across the snow covered ground. Despite the large black fur lined coat he wore, the scarf that threatened to swallow his entire face, and his thick gloves, he still felt cold somehow. Beside him, a bundle of white hopped through the snow, insisting that it made it easier to stay balanced.
Felix sighed. The things he did for his favourite cousin.
Hopping through snow was absolutely not one of those things though, he still had a shred of dignity, so he kept trudging through it.
Why were they out in the middle of the snow?
Because Adrien wanted to go to the park, of course. In December.
They had already been hit with one snow storm, and it seemed another was on the horizon.
Adrien suddenly gasped delightedly, making Felix look up from his own boots, desperately trying to keep his balance.
Adrien was pointing at a brown wooden stand, set up in the park, with glittering fairy lights hung over a sign that said in alternating red and green letters; 'Hot Chocolate!'
Adrien turned to Felix, excitedly bouncing on his feet. The question in his eyes before it ever left his mouth. "Can we-"
"Yes," Felix cut him off, grabbing his gloved hand and pulling him out of the snow banks and onto the slightly less snow filled pathway.
Adrien looked at him like he had hung the stars, and Felix suddenly felt like his suffering in the cold might've been worth it.
The two walked up to the stand and Adrien waved excitedly. "Hi!!" He said to the woman running the stand, who seemed to be in her late 70s. The woman smiled at Adrien.
"Hello dear, what can I get for you?" Her voice was warm, like the hot chocolate she sold.
"Two hot chocolates please!" Adrien ordered his with an unseemly amount of whipped cream, and Felix chose to add a candy cane to his own.
The two boys thanked the woman and moved to the covered pavilion, one of the few places safe from the snow coating the ground. They both sat on an ice cold bench, both sipping their drinks. It was probably the best hot chocolate Felix had ever had. It warmed him from the inside out, and he managed to let the ice cold surroundings fade, the warm and cozy feeling from both the hot chocolate and the look on his cousin's face taking over his senses.
The grin on Adrien's face didn't fade, not even when the hot chocolate was gone, and Felix definitely 100% didn't fall into a snow bank in his attempt to keep what little dignity he had intact.
Whatever, it was all worth it to see how happy Adrien was even after they got home.
