“Oh, I’m sorry.”
Elle’s voice lowers as she watches the woman shudder, leading her away from the crowd a little. She had always hated Christmas Shopping, Holiday shopping at all. Now, as she watches the slim blonde shudder she can see the panic taking hold.
“Hey… hey… breathe for me, okay? Just follow my lead.”
She can see the threat of tears but as the woman’s breathing steadies, she smiles softly.
“There’s a good girl…”
A flinch and a whimper follow and Elle drops her voice lower.
“Are you alright?”
June nods, tightening her grip on herself.
“Yes ma’am.”
“Elle… I’m Elle.”
“I’m… June.”
The two talk a while longer before Elle leaves her to her Christmas shopping, setting down the few bags of gifts and frowning as the phone rings. She doesn’t want to leave for work now…. Still she answers and smiles at the voice on the end of the line.
“I meant to thank you, Agent Greenaway…”
June. Soft voiced as ever.
“My pleasure June…”
“I was wondering if you’d like to… come over, spend Christmas together?”
Elle’s smile is quick and honest.
“I’d love to.”
