Stephen eases out of the final yoga pose, eyes closed, and takes a minute in a seated position to focus on his breathing and exit the meditative state. When he opens his eyes, he finds Tony and Peter watching from the gym’s sidelines. Peter is almost vibrating, and he grins when he sees that Stephen is finished. “You’re really flexible for a middle aged guy!” he says.
“I’m forty-one,” Stephen protests.
“Right,” Peter says. Nothing more is forthcoming.
Stephen sighs, standing, and casts a despairing look at Tony. It’s not that Peter is wrong, but…
“Don’t look at me,” Tony says quietly, letting Peter lead them out of the gym. He rests a hand on Stephen’s lower back as they walk. “I’m ten years older than you. I’ll take ‘middle aged’ over the alternatives.”
“It just sounds so… ”
“Unsexy?” Tony finishes with a wry grin. “I know. I get it.” Then he drops his hand and gives Stephen’s ass a firm squeeze. The jump and the yelp are completely involuntary. Peter tosses a glance over his shoulder and Stephen shoots him a reassuring smile before glaring at Tony. The bastard just laughs. “Just helping you feel sexy,” he says, smirking.
