Work Text:
As a child, Kipo was fascinated by animals and the old world. She always wished to be able to go to the surface and see everything that the books told her about with her very own eyes. It was forbidden to go outside the burrow, but a girl could always dream.
She would imagine herself, watching the stars that covered the dark sky. She would imagine herself riding on animals that were a thousand times bigger than her. Sometimes, she would even play games with her best friend Asher. Asher would be a human and Kipo would be a mute. They would run around outside of their school, acting like surface people. Kipo always thought that it would have been really cool go have powers!
When she was forced onto the surface and found out that she wasn't completely human, Kipo had been scared of herself. The surface and mutants was no longer a game that she could just stop playing at any time. It was for real. She was turning into an actual mute and there was nothing that she could do to stop it.
But after finding out what she truly was and what her purpose was, she wasn't as scared anymore. She was fascinated once again, wanting to explore her new self and what she was capable of. She would turn her hands into paws and use them to fight. Having powers was really cool!
After she had saved Las Vistas from Dr. Emilia with the help of her friends and family, Kipo didn't need to use her jaguar powers to fight off evil people anymore. She mostly used it to get around places faster or for fun. People were looking up to her and wanting to be like her and Kipo was happy that she was able to be a rolemodel for the children of Las Vistas.
She would teach them that nothing was impossible and to welcome the unknown with kindness. Just like she had done. While having mutant powers was indeed very cool, being the bridge of peace between humans and mutes was way cooler.
