I Spy… A Fluffy Black Kitten!

Summary:

It’d been raining all day. Perrito decides to play some I Spy with Puss and Kitty.

(Rewrite of ‘The Little Kitten on the Road’)

Notes:

Hi! I’m back with this fandom. I don’t really have any big projects planned for it since I’m working on three other things. But, I decided I wanted to write at least something to show that I still appreciate the good side of it. I also just wanted to rewrite the og work as a short drabble.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It's been raining since the afternoon.

“Perrito!” Puss yelled, watching the pup run out into the rain. “Come back here! We can’t get anyone sick right now.” The tabby furrowed his brows. “But Puss! Look how pretty the rain is in the sunset!” The pup laughed, running up and down.

“Seriously, Perrito.” Kitty groaned, gesturing to come back inside the shade. Perrito took a small glance at the rain and then ran back to Kitty. “Alright then.” Perrito smiled.

Still raining.

“When can we go outside!? We’ve been here since this afternoon!” The tabby spat out a fish bone. “I’m sure we can find something to do here.” Perrito wagged his tail. “Like what, Perro?” Kitty leaned onto the wall.

 “Hm. Cards?” Perrito suggested.

“I don’t have any on me at the moment.” Puss shook his head.

“Tag!” Perrito jumped.

“What… how!? We’re in a very small area right now.” Kitty hissed.

“Uh. I Spy!” Perrito had a wide grin.

“Hm. Sure.” Kitty agreed. “You can start first, Perro.” She offered. “Really? Yay!” Perrito looked outside. “I Spy something… brown and green.”

“A tree.” Puss answered before Kitty. “What? How did you know?” Perrito asked enthusiastically. “Too obvious Perro. Try again.” Puss turned the dog around.

“I Spy something… brown…”

“It’s probably a tree.” Puss whispered in Kitty's ear.

“Small, furry… and black.” Perrito turned around.

“Wait? What?” Puss snapped his head at Perrito. “Say that again?”

“Uhm. Small, furry, and black.” Perrito repeated. Puss blinked. “So you’re saying that you see either a dog or cat. ” Kitty leaned forward. “Yeeeaaaasss…?” Perrito nodded ever so slowly. Kitty raised a brow. “It was a kitten.” Perrito quickly said.

“Oh my gosh Kitty! He’s talking about a kitten!” Puss shook the tuxedo cat violently. “Yes! Yes! I know Puss!” Kitty grabbed Puss’s hands. “Let’s go get the kitten and hopefully warm it up so it doesn’t shrivel up and die.” The tuxedo cat grabbed a random cloth and wrapped it around her head.

She jumped out of the shade and the cart.

“Wait for me, Kitty!” Puss put his hat back on and ran off to follow Kitty.

The rain picked up. It was getting harder to see.

“Stupid rain.” Kitty hissed, wiping the water from her face.

“Kitty! I found them!” Puss yelled. “You did?” She turned around and ran off to Puss’s direction.

Kitty found herself staring at a tiny kitten. The kitten seemed to have fainted, its eyes were closed. “Let’s get the gatito into the cart. They’ll lose one of their lives.” The tuxedo cat ran off to the cart. “Wait up! I’m holding a baby!” Puss was quick to follow.

“Aww. It’s so cute!” Perrito stared in awe, observing the kitten. “I feel so bare without the cape.” Puss frowned. “Too bad.” Kitty rolled her eyes.

“Hm.” The tabby cat sat down, leaning on the wall. “I’m tired.” He yawned. “We barely did anything today.” Kitty turned her head to the tabby. “Well, I had to dry off the kitten.” Puss crossed his arms.

“Can we name the kitten?” Perrito jumped, wagging his tail. “Shh! You’re gonna wake her up.” Kitty held a finger to her mouth. “Sorry.” Perrito whimpered. “But, I guess we could name her.” Kitty nodded.

“What about… Azul?” She suggested.

“I don’t think she has blue eyes.” Puss shook his head. “What about Verde?”

“Nope.” Kitty was quick to answer. “Fine! Then why don’t we name her…”

“Why don’t we name her Estrella?” Perrito finally suggested. “… I don’t see why not.” Puss shrugged. “That… that does fit.” Kitty nodded, looking back at the sleeping kitten.

One life out of nine. I think she’s doing fine! Right?- The author

Notes:

Going to be perfectly honest: I quit the fandom after quitting Discord. I was really hurt by a person who’d been in the PiB fandom, and it kind of hurt to look at the fandom itself due to that person. Just yesterday I rewatched some of the clips from the show and… it made me happy again! It reminded me of why I even joined in the first place, why it inspired me to actually start writing on AO3. So, yep. Thank you PiB AO3 fandom <33 love you guys :)
