New to Relationships

Summary:

“These caught your eye while we were walking downtown a few weeks ago. But, you said they were too expensive. So, I went and got them for you.”

They stared at the earrings. “Lloyd, this is too much. I don’t deserve this.”

“You deserve the world, Morro.”

Chapter 1: Affection

Chapter Text

Morro smiled at Lloyd as he waved at them from across the street. He was just leaving Laughy’s. They checked for cars, then dashed across the street.

“Hey, Morro!”

“Hey, darling~”

Lloyd’s heart skipped a beat. He stumbled over his words as he tried to think of a response.

“Aw, I broke him,” They teased.

“Oh, shut up.”

Lloyd kissed them. They both melted a little into the kiss. Morro held his hand.

The two of them were going home for the night. Lloyd offered to walk them home just so he could talk to them as they walked.

Morro chuckled, “I think it’s adorable that you still get flustered even though we’re together now.”

“I’m new to relationships, okay?”

“I mean, I’m new to serious relationships.”

“How do you get into a relationship with someone without it being serious?”

“Have you never heard the term ‘fling’ before?”

“Oh, right.”

“I’ll bet you’re one of those people who believes in true love, aren’t you?”

“You make that sound like a bad thing.”

“Well, I guess it depends on the specifics. I think the way true love is always depicted in books and movies is unrealistic. I don’t understand the idea that there’s only one person out there who’d be perfect for you. Everyone is different, but some people are pretty damn similar. Not to mention that some people remarry after their spouse dies, and some people are polyamorous. This whole ‘one true love’ thing is stupid.”

“Okay, so, maybe one true love doesn’t make much sense.”

“And what’s the difference between love and true love?”

“True love never fades.”

Morro giggled, “You’re such a dork.”

Lloyd smiled and shrugged. “So I’ve been told~”

---

Morro and Lloyd had just finished eating dinner at a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant. But now, it was time for Morro to go to work. The two of them stood in front of each other in the alleyway.

“I like this place, you’ve got good taste,” Lloyd said.

“Eh, well...” Morro failed to brush the compliment off and just smiled a little.

Lloyd giggled, “You know, for someone who always teases me about how flustered I get, you’re not much better.”

“What? I don’t get flustered.”

“You don’t get flustered when someone flirts with you. But if someone compliments you, your face turns bright pink. And it’s really cute.”

The blush on their face spread. “Pssh, whatever.”

Lloyd giggled mischievously. He gave them a peck on the cheek.

They chuckled, “Come here you—”

They pressed their lips to his. Lloyd giggled into the kiss. He wrapped his arms around their neck as they pulled him closer by his hips.

He pulled away after a minute.

“You’re gonna be late,” He said.

“Alright, alright. I’ll see you later.” They turned and began to walk away.

“I love you.”

Morro was incredibly caught off guard. They turned around to face him again. Both of them were blushing now. Lloyd looked just as shocked as they were.

“S-sorry, that just, um, slipped out. I didn’t–I didn’t mean any pressure—”

“I love you too.”

“R-really? I thought it was too soon—”

“I mean, we’ve been dating for three months. And... I mean it.”

Lloyd beamed. “I love you~”

“I love you too, dear,” They giggled, “Did we really just say ‘I love you’ for the first time in a fucking alley? ”

Lloyd laughed, “That is so us.”

---

Morro was having a rough day, and Lloyd was determined to cheer them up. However, every time he tried to smother them with affection, they'd pull away.

“Why won’t you let me love you?” He whined.

“It’s embarrassing!”

“I’m gonna make you feel loved if it's the last thing I do, gosh darn it.”

Morro covered their face with their hands and groaned. Lloyd pulled their hands away. He gazed longingly into their eyes.

“You’re so gorgeous,” He whispered.

Morro smiled shyly and looked away. Lloyd turned their head to look at him again. He gently caressed their face with both of his hands. He leaned in closer and pressed his forehead against theirs.

“I love you~”

“Lloyd...” Morro laughed weakly, “If you keep doing that I might start crying.”

“What? Why?”

“No one’s ever cared about me as genuinely as you do. I’m not used to it. It’s really overwhelming...”

“I’m sorry.”

“No, you don’t have to apologize, I just...”

“...Need me to dial it back a little bit?”

“Yeah.”

Lloyd held Morro close and ran his fingers through their hair. “Is this okay?”

They relaxed and melted into him. “Yeah, this is alright.”
