Chapter Text
“Hello!”
His eyes snapped to the girl sitting left of him on the bench.
“Hello,” he replied hesitantly.
“What’s your favorite flower?”
He squinted for a few seconds, wondering if he had heard her correctly.
“Sunflower,” he said, but it sounded more like a question.
“Thank you,” she smiled before returning her attention to the notebook on her lap.
Erik’s eyes lingered on her longer than they ought to. He couldn’t be sure whether it was her strange behavior which had captured his attention or her angelic beauty, enhanced by the sun’s rays hitting her face at such a perfect angle—
She looked back at him briefly.
Fuck.
Focusing his attention back away from her he quickly located his favorite little lady, a cavalier King Charles spaniel puppy, chasing a much bigger dog around a tree. He smirked at the ridiculous sight and let himself get distracted by the scene unfolding in front of him.
He had almost completely managed to put his angelic bench neighbor and her golden hair out of his mind (not really) when she loudly ripped a page from her notebook and turned back to him.
“Here, for you,” she handed him the ripped page.
On it, there was a drawing of a sunflower, completed with soft touches of yellow and green.
“For me?” He asked incredulously.
She nodded, smiled and shoved the page into his hand before gathering her pencils and notebook, or more accurately sketchbook, and fitting them neatly back into her bag.
“Mephisto!”
A large black doberman strode to her side and she attached his leash back on before heading for the dog park’s gate.
Snapped out of his confusion by her departure, Erik scrambled for some way of keeping her attention for a moment longer.
“What’s your favorite flower?” He called after her.
She spun back around, her expression one of surprise, before breaking out into a shy smile and yelling back.
“Roses!”
Erik’s eyes remained glued onto her golden curls until she disappeared from view.
He looked back down at the delicate drawing of the sunflower.
He’d have to go buy a frame.
