Domestic December: Concert/Play

Summary:

Secondo has a special surprise date planned for his fiancée.

Notes:

Written for Domestic December.

Only used one prompt, but this one was the best.

Work Text:

When Secondo had entered their hotel room and announced "I have a date planned for us, amore mio", Denise had been expecting something like a fancy dinner or a trip to a swanky club.

She had expected to be told where they were going, and what kind of date it would be.

What had happened instead, however, was a secretive Secondo refusing to directly answer any of her questions while helping her get ready. A "You will like it, I am sure of that" as he handed her her favourite matte lipstick, and a "You will see when we get there, amore mio" as he helped to adjust the straps of her designer heels were all she got in response.

This had made her very curious, and—once in the car and on the street—quite nosey.

"You're not gonna tell me where we're going?"

"Somewhere you will enjoy."

Denise rolled her eyes. "That could be anywhere."

Secondo simply smirked in response.

"Please tell me? Pretty please?" Denise batted her eyelashes at her fiancé, who somehow managed to valiantly resist her charm.

Secondo simply mimed locking his mouth and throwing away the invisible key.

Defeated, Denise crossed her arms and pouted, in a slightly dramatic fashion. "Fine."

Secondo chuckled softly, reaching over to gently stroke her cheek. "It's a surprise, amore mio."

Denise's pout faltered a bit. She did like surprises.

They were quiet for a bit, silently enjoying each other's company in the back of the (expensive) car...then Denise noticed the road sign.

"Broadway?"

Secondo tried, vainly, to hide his smug smile. "Mmhm."

Denise smiled. She hadn't been to a Broadway production in several years. The first (and last) one she had seen had been Rent. And now this? She couldn't help but feel excited.

And that excitement only grew when she saw which street they were now on. Fourty-fourth.

"The Majestic?" she asked softly, pulse quickening.

"Sì."

Denise sucked in a breath. That could only mean one thing...

Indeed, the large sign, with a white theatre mask and red rose and title of the play, confirmed her suspicions.

"The Phantom of The Opera?!"

Secondo nodded, and smiled as he pulled two tickets out of his suit jacket's pocket.

Denise could hardly believe it. She hadn't been expecting this. She'd been wanting to see this on Broadway for most of her life!

She stared in awe as the driver parked the car, and couldn't help but stare at the lovely golden-bricked building as Secondo opened her door and helped her out of the car, and continued to stare as he thanked the driver.

"So." Secondo's voice brought her out of her daze, and she looked at him with wide eyes as he gestured to the entrance of the building. "Shall we?"

Denise practically squealed as she grabbed his arm, giddy and grinning like a child opening a Christmas gift.

"Let's!"
