New Year's Morning

Summary:

Sungchan and Shotaro watch the sunrise together on New Year's Day

Notes:

Hello! This is based off a prompt "New Year's kiss, Sungchan knows that him and Shotaro can’t kiss on stage at the new years show so he makes his own new years when they go see the sunrise together like last year."

If you have any holiday-themed prompts/ideas you want to see feel free to leave a suggestion in the comments! This is part of a collection of holiday-themed one-shots I am working on.

Most of my one-shots will be Christmas/New Year themed but I am happy to write about other holidays if anyone is interested in that

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Sungchan stood off to the side watching as Shotaro jumped up and down laughing and smiling among the other idols. He wished they had been able to share a New Year’s kiss right at midnight but that simply wasn’t the option, not when they were part of a big New Year’s special for Music Bank counting down the time till the clock struck midnight. “Happy news Chanie!” Shotaro shrieked, running over to pull Sungchan into a hug.

“Happy New Year Taro!” Sungchan shouted, smiling and letting Shotaro pull him into the throng of other idols.

The rest of the night was a blur with Sungchan constantly smiling and bowing to other idols before finally at almost two in the morning they arrived back at their dorm. Having an idea, Sungchan hung back waiting in the car with their manager. “Hey hyung, I was wondering if you could leave the car at the dorm?” Sungchan asked.

“Sure why?” Their manager agreed, pulling out his phone to call an Uber.

“I want to go watch the sunset with Shotaro,” Sungchan explained, a dopey grin taking over his face.

“Alright make sure to be careful,” Their manager said, handing Sungchan the car keys.

“We will thank you,” Sungchan assured, climbing out of the car.

Sungchan walked into the dorm placing the car keys on the kitchen table so he wouldn’t miss them in a couple of hours. He walked into his and Shotaro’s shared room and was surprised to see that Shotaro was already in bed wearing a t-shirt and sweats. “Hey Chanie, Is everything all good?” Shotaro asked, looking up at Sungchan.

“Yeah, actually do you want to see the sunrise?” Sungchan asked eagerly.

“Yeah definitely,” Shotaro agreed, smiling at Sungchan’s eagerness.

“Yay! Our manager left us the car. I’ll wake you up when it's time,” Sungchan said, pulling his clothes off and pulling some clean pajamas.

“Good night. I love you,” Shotaro said, snuggling under the blanket.

“Love you too,” Sungchan responded, climbing in next to Shotaro.

“Wake up wake up,” Sungchan gently shook Shotaro awake.

“What?” Shotaro asked, blinking sleepily.

“Get up so we can see the sunrise,” Sungchan directed, heading out of the room to get his stuff.

Shotaro hummed and climbed out of bed not bothering to change out his sweats as he made his way to the front hall. Sungchan let out a laugh seeing a sleepy Shotaro wandering around their dorm gathering a sweater and his shoes. Sungchan grabbed the keys off the table and followed Shotaro out the front door.

The two of them drove in a comfortable silence through the empty streets of Seoul Sungchan knowing exactly where he wanted to take Shotaro. Soon the couple was leaving the lit streets and driving up a winding mountain road. Sungchan pulled the car into a thankfully empty parking lot and pulled Shotaro out of the car to join him overlooking Seoul just as the first rays of the sun began to break through the darkness. “It’s beautiful,” Shotaro whispered, memorized as the sky slowly began to change from a deep blue to pink.

“Yeah,” Sungchan agreed, staring at Shotaro.

Sungchan looked around making sure that there was no one around, before wrapping his arms around Shotaro’s waist and pulling him to face him. Leaning down Sungchan pulled Shotaro into a kiss just as the sun peaked through and began to rise, illuminating the couple. “I’m glad to spend New Year's with you and I’m excited to see where we go in 2024 both as a couple and as part of RIIZE,” Sungchan whispered smiling at Shotaro.

“Me too,” Shotaro agreed, taking Sugchan’s hand in his and turning back to watch the sun continue to rise in the sky.
