Holly Snow had been shivering when Sarah Porter first picked her up to bring her home. Now, even as they sat in the back of her car, she’s quick to share her scarf and mittens, noting how shyly Holly smiles and gently stroking her cheek.
“Better?”
“Much… thank you.”
Holly would never, could never, admit how rough her life had been, but she knew that Sarah understood and cared. She knew, deep down, she was safe at last. Chosen, wanted, loved and finally given a real home. Somewhere she could always come to when she needed comfort. Even if she still couldn’t admit it out loud.
