Jenny Shepard, once NCIS Director, had been ‘dead’ for a few years by the time she officially moved in with Sarah Porter. Her new name, Josephine ‘Jo’ Baker, gave her cover enough to live freely after all. So when she sees a chance for fun, she takes it.
Sarah watches as Jenny and her daughter start playing in the snow, Jenny’s delighted laughter bringing a smile to her face even as she prepares to join them, smiling and ducking when her daughter aims a snowball at her, the girl’s shriek when Jenny pelts her brings laughter again before Jenny catches her off-guard with a second snowball and then the fight begins properly.
By the time they head indoors for Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows, they are all covered in snow, Jenny’s cheeks are red and Sarah knows she’s just as flushed. It’s a new life for them all, but they are, finally, happy.
