Work Text:

“Your heel, miss…” Tooth Fairy looks up at the woman above her — the sky slowly lighting up above them. It’s about four in the morning, Tooth Fairy hasn't got any significant sleep; as is with most doctors. She was having a mundane early morning, before she noticed a little note stuck to her nightstand. Cursive handwriting, written out of desperation, she could tell… and yet it was, unexplainably pretty. She took a quick shower and rushed over here immediately, only to be met by quiet woods and a birds chirp every now and then. That was before she stumbled upon a singular heel, calm breathing and the scent of fragrant flowers. The moon was still in the sky at this hour, sky a refreshing gloomy blue. “Miss Druvis.” She continues her sentence once she finally registered who it was.

It was hard to tell from the light, was Lady Druvis smiling? She lets out a small noise of surprise, she isnt sure why. “You actually came…” She whispers, softly. Tooth Fairy finds a gentle hand ruffling the top most part of her hair. “Sorry, was this too sudden?” She says, almost sleepily.

Tooth Fairy only hums, appreciating the sensation on her head. It makes her feel like she’s the patient, for some odd reason. “No…” Tooth Fairy looks up at her once more. “I was just… a little puzzled.” She helps Druvis slip into the heel, holding her hand so that she wont fall from the tree. Druvis lets out a little squirm from the impact, Tooth Fairy giggles. They have forgotten that their hands are intertwined. “Did you really just want someone to drive you back to the Foundation?” Tooth Fairy slightly humours her, breaking the comfortable silence.

“I wanted company, not a ride, Doctor.” Druvis giggles back before Tooth Fairy starts speaking once again. “Why me?”

“It just had to be.” Druvis smiles at her, she can see it clearly this time. “I thought, your tooth fairies might love the atmosphere here.” She illuminates the path with plants that are almost lantern-like. Tooth Fairy can do nothing but follow her. “It's really pretty out here, don't you agree?”

“It would be incorrect if I disagreed.” Tooth Fairy says, in awe; almost. She opens the jar of tooth fairies and lets them roam around her. There is a gust of chilly wind swaying the fairy dust and showing them an almost golden-lit scenery of greens and browns. Tooth Fairy acts on muscle memory, this logic is usually applied to patients — but this is Druvis she’s next to. Maybe she just doesnt want the girl to get cold, nothing else… Druvis sighs at the sight. Tooth Fairy, for all the odd rumors and lies that come with her name; seems to be more caring than most of the people she’s come across. Well, she is a doctor after all.

They are very similar in a way, they are misunderstood — sometimes they cant begin to understand. However, similar upbringing still brings opposing views. Maybe Tooth Fairy doesn't understand what this is for yet, but Druvis definitely does.

She gets the fairies under control, until theyre only swishing around them. Spots of sunlight shine down on them, half being blocked by the branches and leaves. Tooth Fairy asks her a question, “Do you know what happened to my brother?” Druvis thinks shes being messed with.

“Didnt he–” the doctor cuts her off, “His teeth yes…” She laughs, Druvis’ face of concern only growing deeper. “Did you know that it wasn't because of any of these guys?” Druvis questions her, raising a blonde eyebrow. “Yes, it was actually more connected to human medicine. His teeth are perfectly fine now.” the doctor laughs. She’s trying to prove a point.

Now she gets it. Druvis called her here because she hoped that she’d understand. She does – this is how they work. From often times only talking in terms of arcanist’s medicine and medical practices, to whatever this is, Tooth Fairy gets it.

“You really just had to clear that up, didn’t you?” Druvis humors, shes only met with a content hum. “Sometimes you just have to clear things up.” She replies, and maybe she’s right.
