Work Text:
The school bell rings through the classroom, signalling the end of another boring period. You practically groan as your bones pop back into place while you rise from your chair to head for lunch, head pounding slightly from the hour of non stop work. The halls quickly filling to the brim with students on their way to the cafeteria to get the first picks before it was all gone. You however waiting outside of your Classroom waiting for a specific Ace detective.
Goro was one of the last people to exit the classroom. His eyes immediately spotting you not far from the doorway as he begins making his way through the crowd of students to get to you.
“Shall we get going to lunch” he says sweetly as he waits for you to respond.
“Yes. Lets get going before we get squashes by all these people” you reply back. The boy just smiles back at you before extending his hand towards you. You clasps your hand in his without a second thought as the warmth from his hand spreads to you. Goro slowly begins to walk towards the library as he navigates his way through the hordes of hungry students. Hand firmly but gently attached to yours so you wouldn’t get swept away.
It was hard to believe that you were lucky enough to call the Goro Akechi your boyfriend. After months and months of trying to break down his almost impenetrable mental walls, he finally had begun to slowly open up his heart to you, meaning now you were stuck with him. You weren’t only his partner. But his best friend as well.
“Y/n can you hear me”
You were snapped out of your dazed at Goro’s humoured voice. Eyes snapping to his as a blush creeps to your cheeks. A hearty chuckle escapes his lips as Goro simply shakes his head.
“You didn’t hear a single thing I just said, did you” the Detective questions you. You shrug your shoulders back at him as he continues to guide you both to the library.
“Am I not allowed to Daydream” you interrogate him back. Earning you an eye roll back from the boy
“I never said that. I would just prefer you did it when your not walking through a busy walk way and stepping on the backs of my shoes.” He quips back as he tips his chin up with a slight smirk. Cocky bastard. You pouted back at him.
“I asked if you were alright, I noticed you were having problems concentrating during class” Goro asks as concern flashes in his eyes for a moment. You give his hand a quick squeeze in reassurance before replying.
“I’m ok. Got a little bit of a headache but nothing that will kill me.” You say back to him. His shoulders seemed to sag slightly at your announcement. After eventually arriving to the library you both sat at your usual table and pulled out your lunches. Goro being the food fanatic as he was, immediately went about eating what was in his bento. You however stopped not long after you had started eating. Suddenly not feeling overly hungry. Your boyfriend seemed to notice your lack of eating and pauses what he was doing.
“Is something wrong. Your not eating” he questions you as worry flashes in his red orbed eyes.
“I’m just not really hungry right now I suppose. Maybe it has something to do with the headache” The comment only making the man in front of you frown as he places his chopsticks down before leaning over the table, gently resting his hand on the front of your forehead. A blush creeps up on your cheeks as you realise he was probably checking your temperature.
“You don’t seem to have a fever. But I’m still concerned. Please try and eat a little more. And maybe take some painkillers to get rid of that headache” Your boyfriend worriedly states as he slowly retracts his hand. You give him a gentle smile.
“Maybe I just need a nap. The last few days have been a Lot with all the exams and stuff” you smirk at him.
“Lets hope that’s all it is” he chuckles at your expression before continuing to eat lunch.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The rest of the day was as uneventful as usual. Goro unfortunately has to leave for work straight after school. Leaving you with nothing to do but go to head back to your apartment alone to cook dinner and finish off some homework you didn’t get done during lunch. The painkillers you took having done nothing to sooth the throbbing sensation between your eyes. A very squished subway ride later you pulled up to your station and made the long journey to your apartment building.
Arriving home you immediately kicked your shoes off and trudged your way over to the lounge before practically face planting into the cushions. Deciding this was where you would stay until further notice. However your body was forced to move at the sound of your phone pinging beside you. Groaning in both pain and annoyance you fish the device from your pocket before looking at the notification to see who messaged. Unsurprisingly it was your boyfriend.
Goro: Sorry Y/n, it appears that I have to stay back later at work tonight to I don’t think I’ll be able to make it to dinner. However I expect some leftovers to take home with me.
You: Don’t expect to much for dinner tonight. I still not feeling the best to cook an extravagant meal
Goro: Are you still not feeling well. Have you taken more painkillers.
You almost smirk at his overprotectiveness shining past his princely persona.
You: I was just about to. Then I’ll probably make something quick and head to bed. Hopefully I just need a good night’s sleep and I’ll be fine for tomorrow.
Goro: Don’t push yourself ok. Try to get some rest. Goodnight Y/n”
You: Night Goro. Don’t you push yourself either.
After that short conversation you decided to stay put on the lounge for a while as you watched some random show that had popped up on the TV. Only getting up to retrieve the painkillers to hopefully soothe your headache this time and after Laying back on the lounge for what seemed Ike eternity, you reluctantly stood up and made your way over to the kitchen to begin on dinner.
You decided on a quickly salad with some cooked chicken stripes to go along with it. After cooking the chicken and making the salad you place then into a Bento for Goro and sat down at the table to eat yours. Once again your appetite was non existence as it was during lunch. Only this time it was accompanied but some nausea.
Maybe I am getting sick. Hopefully it’s just some Exhaustion. You thought to yourself.
After essentially forcing your body to eat the food you made. You place your dish in the sink, you drag your feet to the bedroom and changed into your pyjamas before heading back to the lounge to watch some TV before bed. Checking the time to see it was still relatively early in the evening. Laying your head down on a pillow, you got comfortable and realised just how much you were craving Goro’s warmth right now. It didn’t feel right to sit on the couch without him being right next to you. With heavy lidded eyes, it didn’t take your body long to drift off into a dreamless slumber
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your consciousness was brought back the a sudden warm surrounding you. Body feeling light as you felt like you are were flying on a cloud, a familiar scent wrapping it way around you. It wasn’t until your mind woke up a little more that you realised you were being carried. Arms had held you securely around your back and legs, head rested on a comfortable shoulder, head buried into a warm neck. You groan slightly as you half open your eyes to see strands of golden brown hair.
“Goro” your voice slurs as the arms around you tighten.
“Shhhh, Its ok Y/n, just go back to sleep. You feel asleep on the couch and I’m taking you to bed.” His calming yet exhausted sounding voice rumbles through his chest into yours as it only lulled you back towards sleep. You feel your body being moved down before being placed on some cold yet comfortable. This was probably your bed. The covers were pulled back and draped over your body. Once you were comfortable something warm presses against your cheek before being removed.
“Goodnight Y/n. I’ll see you in the morning my dear” Goro’s voice was the last thing you heard before drifting back off again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your alarm blaring into your skull was what woke you from sleep. You felt utterly exhausted. Your head was still throbbing painfully, your body was hot and clammy and nausea was throwing itself full force into your stomach. You whimper in pain as you curl into yourself. You were sick. There was no denying it. Not when you felt about 1000 degrees hotter than the sun.
You haphazardly search for your phone on the bedside table and switch your alarm off before turning back over. A realisation came that Goro had nothing for lunch today because you didn’t have the energy to prepare anything the night before. Your mind drifted on this thought for a long time, long enough that you distantly heard the front door open and close. Meaning you had laying in bed for at least 40 minutes after your alarm.
You begrudgingly got out of bed and practically stumbled to your bedroom door. Opening the door and almost fell as a wave of dizziness overcame you. Hand holding on to the doorknob for dear life so you wouldn’t fall on your ass. After it passes you walked out towards the living room where your detective boyfriend was standing. A smirk on his face popped up after seeing you.
“A little late to be sleeping in, isn’t it” he questions in his cocky tone. You simply lean up against the cool wall for balance.
“Do I not get a smartass remark back today” Goro starts before a frown decorations his face as he studies you. “Y/n are you feeling alright. Your awfully pale”
You went to reply back when a harsh shiver makes it way through your body, causing you to slip forward off the wall. You try to regain balance by placing a foot in front of you but the limb turns to jelly as you plummet towards the hardwood floors. A harsh curse followed by your name being called out across your apartment sounds before you landed in the warm arms of your boyfriend. Who had caught you just before you hit the floor. A cool hand immediately coming up to your burning forehead before another curse was let out.
“Y/N your burning hot” Goro almost cried out In worry.
“I-I’m always good looking” you stutter back as a horrible shiver rocks through you again, body instinctively curling into the Detectives warmth. Goro’s runs his hand down your face gently. Eyes set in a look of concern.
“As much as that is true Y/n, thats not exactly the case this time, you have a bad fever. Come one, let’s get you back to bed. Your not going to school today.” Goro carefully pulls you into his arms as he walks towards your room.
You feel your being gently lowered again back onto your bed. Much like last night with the same grace and care. Once your situated Goro disappears for brief moment before returning with a cold wash cloth on your forehead as well as offering two painkillers to help reduce the fever. With his ever princely charm Goro helps you sit up as you weakly take the pills with shaking hands from his and put them into your mouth. Swallowing them with the water also fetched by your boyfriend. After assisting you back down into the covers, Goro places the wash cloth on your burning head as he stands.
“Are you gonna leave” you croak out. Praying he would stay to take care of you.
“Of course not. I very well can’t leave you while your in this condition. What sort of a partner would I call myself. I’m simply making a few phone calls to school and work. I’ll be back in a few minutes” Goro states before leaving your room so it wouldn’t disturb you. The sounds of his distance voice could he heard from the lounge room as you picked up a few words such a sick and absent during his conversation. However you eyes once again became to heavy as you drifted back off to sleep. Unable to hear the rest of the conversation.
You were once again rudely awoken this time by a horrible churning sensation in your stomach. Curling up into yourself, silently hoping it would go away. Only for bile to start rising up in the back of your throat as you stumble in a hurry out of bed. Practically throwing your door off its hinges you race to the bathroom as you hear your name being called from across the apartment. You make it with only moments to spare as you empty your stomach into the toilet.
Gentle hands are there in seconds as one pulls back your hair while to other rubs comforting circles on your back. After retching a few more times your stomach feel slightly better. Overcome by a wave of weakness you lean back into Goro’s chest as the Detective once again places his cold hand on your head.
“Do you feel a little better now” he asks gently. A hand slipping into your for comfort.
“A little” you weakly reply. Curling back into him. Goro sighs heavily .
“If your fever doesn’t get better in the next few hours I’m calling a doctor. I’m worried about you” the boy once again scoops you into his arms as he makes his way back to your room. Placing you back into bed and disappearing once more. This time returning with a small bucket and a plate of toast.
“Even if it’s not much, I want you to try and eat something. You haven’t eaten all day and you need your strength to get better” a small smile makes its way to your face. This boy was way to good for you.
“Thank you for taking care of me” you say as the boy sits on the edge of your bed.
“There’s no need to thank me Y/n, its what I’m here for” he simply replies. You reach up and grab his hand.
“Stay in bed with me” pink dusted his cheeks but Goro simply smiles as he removed his jacket and climbing into bed beside you.
“I hope you know I expect the same treatment for when I get sick also” you answer by rolling up against his body and wrap your arms around him in a hug. Arms fold around you also and you once again found yourself falling asleep against the man you could always count on to look after you.
Goro stayed with you the entire day as he closely monitored your condition. Showing you nothing but care and compassion as he took care of your every need. The fever eventually calming down at night. That being said. Goro insisted he stay the night to make sure you had fully recovered. Not that you could complain. It just meant infinite cuddles from the person you loved most.
