Scott's gay adventure

Summary:

5 times Scott got away with being a little gay, 1 time it went too far. Enjoy!

Notes:

First of all, I've never done this kind of 5+1 thing before. Secondly, I haven't fully read finish Scott Pilgrim and I'm currently travelling while writing this so apologies for any inaccuracies. I really love the relationship between Scott and Wallace and I just wanted to write something for it, even with my mediocre writing skills.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

1:

Ever since Wallace and Scott became roommates, it was not uncommon to come across doubtful gazes of the latter not being gay despite him insisting that they were too broke to afford two. I mean, why waste the space of a futon enough to fit two scrawny guys? Scott pondered to himself.

“You coming to bed?” Wallace cooed, sitting up from his futon. Scott was kind of just standing blankly at the doorway leading to the bathroom, having only snapped out of his thoughts because of Wallace. Scott nodded and practically jumped into bed, landing on top of Wallace who let out an ‘oof!’ sound. Scott rolled himself away from Wallace to his own side of the futon.

Wallace grimaced a bit at the pain, “Jesus…good night, guy.” Scott closed his eyes and hummed, “I'm not Jesus, but thanks!” They stayed in silence, seemingly getting ready to sleep. Except, “Can I get my good-night kiss?” Scott muttered, opening one of his eyes to peek at Wallace. Wallace sighed and gave him a peck on his forehead. With that, they fell into a deep slumber.

2:

“Why aren't you wearing pants?!” Scott choked on air at the sight of a bottomless Wallace cooking breakfast. Well, he was wearing boxers at least. Wallace flipped one of the bacon sizzling in the pan, “It's hot as bacon right now and unless you want to die in this scorching heat, I suggest you do the same.” At this moment, Scott became acutely aware of how hot their apartment was, the humidity melting his body into a swimming pool worths of sweat. God, when did it get so hot? Scott walked up to the kitchen counter while fanning himself,

“Okay… but why the pants?”

“Why not?” Wallace smirked, looking over his shoulder. Scott looked at Wallace, then his ass, then Wallace again. He felt his face heating up, whether it was due to the view or the heat, he preferred to choose the latter.

“What if Ramona or anyone comes over?” Scott whined, averting his gaze to the delicious breakfast being made for him instead. Yes, that looks good. Not the ass. Scott had to remind himself that he was straight sometimes. “Then, they'll have something good to look at.” Wallace winked before flipping the last bit of bacon and transferring onto the plates.

“That's exactly the problem! You're too hot.” Scott groaned, while taking the plate of bacon and chowing down, really trying his best not to look down at his roommate's lower half. Wallace smiled as they ate their breakfast in hot and sweaty silence.

3:

Scott isn't one to keep his space tidy, leaving mountains of unwashed and washed clothes stacked on the floor. Wallace is much better in that department but his drunk nights of throwing his clothes on the floor leave much to be desired as well. As such, one thing led to another and…

“Are you wearing my shirt?” Wallace interrupted, he knew he felt something off when he saw Scott that day. He'd been distracted by the news Scott and Ramona brought to him which sent him into a fury about Envy.

Scott seemed just as surprised as him and tugged at it in confusion, “This is yours?” Wallace began doubting himself as he recollected, “Well, I remember wearing it the other day…” He scratched his head. Everybody had seemed to turn their attention towards Scott, raising an eyebrow. Scott suddenly felt the clothes ill-fitted to him, his self-consciousness taking over as he asked, “Should I take it off?”

Ramona has to cough to get their attention back to Envy.

“Is this seriously yours or mine?” Scott asked again on their way back to the apartment. Wallace shrugged, “You know what, it doesn't matter. You look good in it anyway, guy.” He patted his back to ease Scott's annual turmoil of ‘doing gay things’.

“If I wear your shirt, does that make me gay?”

“Yes.” Wallace said with a deadly serious look. Scott gasped in horror, “Really?!” He began unbuttoning the shirt only to be stopped by Wallace's hands. He chuckled, “I'm kidding. When you ask stupid questions, I'm going to give you stupid answers.” Scott heaved a sigh of relief as they both continued their walk.

4:

Lucas Lee. A world famous star actor. An excellent skater. “How have you never heard of him?” Wallace was baffled, shoving all the magazines and newspapers he could in Scott's face. Scott picked one of the papers shoved in his face and looked at the celebrity closely. He didn't look all that special to him. “I don't know every gay actor, okay?” Scott dismissed, giving the papers back to Wallace with disinterest. “I wish he was gay!– here, we have to binge all his movies.” Wallace got up and inserted one of the DVDs.

Just like that, they sat together in bed binge-watching all movies starring Lucas Lee in a weekend and sufficed to say, Scott was hooked. “Why is he so… hot?” Scott clutched his pillow in anticipation of the scene on screen, not knowing how to feel about this sudden revelation. Wallace grinned, “Now you get it.”

“Does that make me gay?” Scott looked at him. Wallace didn't look back, his eyes still glued to the ongoing action. “Are you gay?” He nonchalantly asked. Scott hugged his pillow tighter as he fumbled his way forming a cohesive sentence, “Erm… uh I don't think so? I-I mean, No– I don't know.”

Wallace finally turned to face him, a bit surprised, “Okay, I thought you were gonna say ‘No’ so I can tell you not to worry about it but now, I'm not so sure.” Scott whined as if he was a kid that got something he didn't want for Christmas, “I don't wanna be gay… no offence.” Wallace clicked his tongue in annoyance at his usual childishness and said firmly, staring straight on, “Buddy, finding guys attractive is not a gay thing. If you're sure you aren't gay, then it's not gay.” Scott needed constant reassurance from Wallace on a lot of things.

“What about that one time we—” Scott was interrupted by Wallace's shushing as he whispered giddily, “Watch! This is the best part.”

5:

Envy had just broken up with Scott and everything was fine…not. There wasn't any emotional crying; it was more emotional nothing. Scott stayed in his room all day, doing absolutely nothing but lying in bed in silence. Frankly, it was starting to worry Wallace, seeing as Scott had ended things decently with his other exes. He would check up on him occasionally to ensure he was still alive but he never paid any mind to his wallowing. Not until…

“Hey, Wallace…” Scott said slowly. He had spoken so little during this period Wallace had to put his newspaper down to hear him out. “Can you…Can you come to bed with me?” Scott asked quietly and usually, Wallace would say something like ‘it's the afternoon’ but he decided it was too much of a dick move. He plopped himself next to Scott and looked at him expectantly.

The next thing he knew, Scott hugged him tightly and Wallace was stunned, unable to react properly. He allowed the hug to linger, settling his hands on Scott's back for the sake of not making things awkward.

“She was a huge bitch and you deserved better.” He may not know how to comfort someone but he could spit facts. Scott started sobbing uncontrollably like Wallace had just triggered a nerve. “I know… I just don't know why she became this way!” Scott held him tighter, his tears staining Wallace's shirt. “She told me to get a haircut too…” Scott cried harder.

Wallace ruffled his hair, “She's right about that.” Scott groaned and rested his head on Wallace's shoulders. “This is nice…” Scott sniffled, his arms still wrapped around his neck. They stayed like this for a long time.

1:

As far as Scott knew, Wallace came into his life out of the blue. Before he knew it, everybody but him seemed to have adjusted to his sudden appearance. His mom took a liking to him the first time they met; his sister is basically already best friends with him. All the while, Scott stood by the sidelines watching these coincidental meetings unfold and slowly collapse into this one particular incident.

It was an uneventful afternoon; Wallace was doing his assignments like a good student and Scott was eating bread. Normal day, indeed. Little did Scott know, this day would change the trajectory of his life forever. Okay, maybe a bit of an over-exaggeration however it did change Scott in some ways. "Hey guy, wanna go drinking tonight?" Wallace grinned from ear to ear at the thought of getting hard wasted and partying so hard he falls unconscious. Scott shook his head, saying with unfounded confidence and bread in his mouth, "I don't drink."

Cut to midnight and the both are stumbling left and right, with Wallace holding Scott as they drunkenly navigate their way back to… somewhere. "I've never-hic bin this drunk my holeeee life!!!!" Scott yelled at the top of his lungs, words slurred and delirious. Wallace laughed out loud and screamed back as if there was loud music blasting in the background, “Dude, ‘zit okay if I crash at your place?” Scott agreed without thinking, probably because he's drunk out of his mind.

Once they entered his house, Scott felt a wave of nausea hit him. “I…need to puke.” Scott muffled through his hand covering his mouth before making a beeline for the nearest toilet. Wallace, on the other hand, staggered behind to check up on him, still very drunk. The sounds of gagging and puking reverberated throughout the room as he made his way to the bathroom.

He was gonna ask if Scott was okay but the sight of Scott's face in the toilet told him everything. He decided to make his way over to Scott's side and kneeled down to pat his back while he's throwing up. After a few minutes, the vomiting stopped as Scott wiped the remnants of puke on his coat. Wallace helped flush the alcoholic acid with pieces of puke pizza down the toilet. "I'm never drinking this much again." Scott grumbled, his voice hoarse from all the acid in his throat.

Wallace gave a pity smile, "Sorry for all this, I'll go get some water." He stood up front his kneeling position only for a hand to tug at his hand. "Stay...please." Scott mumbled incoherently but because the house was so quiet, Wallace could hear it clear as day. He chuckled at the pitiful display. Rustling his shaggy, tawny hair, he teased, "I'm not going anywhere, you big baby. Now, let me go so I can get you some water.” Scott eventually agreed with hesitancy as Wallace quickly left to get some water and came back swiftly. Granted, he was still tipsy so he likely knocked over a bunch of items in his hastiness.

“Do you want to go to your room?” Wallace yawned as he handed the cup of water over to Scott, still sitting on the floor of the bathroom like a wet, soppy dog. Scott nodded as they made their way to his room.

The first thing Wallace noticed upon entering was: dorky. Dorky posters, dorky room, dorky everything. It was pretty nice, Wallace had to admit. He eyed the comfortable-looking bed in particular in the corner of the room.

"You...wouldn't mind if I slept on your bed right?" Wallace sat himself on the bed, trying to pry an agreement out of him. Scott stood there with an unreadable expression while Wallace continued to persuade him, smirking, "It's big enough to fit both of us so why waste the space, amirite?"

Suddenly, Scott collapsed onto bed without a word, landing on his face with a light thud. Wallace watched, slightly befuddled at the situation at hand. He knew he had been uncharacteristically quiet ever since he vomited. He scooted closer to Scott's side and shook his shoulder, calling out to him to see if he had passed out for good. He got back a mumbled and slurred response, far beyond his hearing capabilities.

Another thud of the mattress bed and Wallace was lying on the bed too, tired and ready to hit the hay. Scott, on the other hand, rolled over with eyes closed, unaware of the distance between the two now. It's warm like this, Scott hummed and nuzzled closer into Wallace's arm. Wallace was absolutely exhausted already, so he did nothing but let him, knowing full well that his arms were going numb at the weight. “Goodnight, guy.” Wallace muttered, letting his heavy eyelids fall as he began drifting away into a land of Nod. Except, when he did, the weight shifted off him and instead, he found hands pinning his to the sides.

Opening his eyes, the sight made his heart skip a beat. He had always thought of Scott as a cute guy, exhibit A being everything that had happened up to this point. However, this was different. Despite the dark room, he could see that unkempt hair draped down the sides of his face. The dark cast on his face gave Scott such a serious expression he felt himself getting goosebumps. If Wallace wasn't awake by this, the kiss Scott pressed into his lips sure did. The last coherent thought he could conjure was how hot Scott was before his brain turned into mush.

Chapped lips. but an excellent kisser. Somehow, that was an accurate description of Scott as a whole. It wasn't their first rodeo and perhaps they were still drunk, yet Wallace was sure this was the best kiss he has ever had.

Scott pulled back to catch his breath, as did Wallace. Delighted at the development, Wallace asked, “What are we doing here—”Only for Scott to crash onto him, the grip around his hands loosening at once. He could feel the entire limp weight of Scott Pilgrim on him as snores escaped his lips, almost comically.

“Fucking tease…” Wallace breathed heavily, running his hand through his hair at how blue balled he was. He could feel a headache coming in because of Scott. He shut his eyes tightly, trying to will his thoughts away from what had just occurred.

The next morning, Scott woke up to him on Wallace, clothed. His eyes couldn't quite keep up with his brain just yet so he stared at Wallace sleeping for a while before he decided how gay that was and ohmygod— the mention of ‘gay’ was like a password that accessed his memories to the night before and everything that had led up to where they were now. He quickly got up from him. Wallace shifted as if he could finally move and got up as well, groaning from the headache and body ache.

“You–We kis—I'm —You're gay?” Scott blurted out a string of words until they formed a sentence.

“That I am. Are you?” Wallace revealed as he tried to stretch the ache away. Scott gulped at the question and replied with as much conviction as he had in his whole life, “I'm…I'm not, definitely not.” We have a winner here, there was a voice crack and everything for good measure.

Wallace snickered, “Sure, guy. First time kissing a guy?” Scott's blush could only deepen as he looked down. It shouldn't have felt so right; he doesn't want to think about why he did it. His lips were really soft, tasted like fruity alcohol, he even had an addictive smell. Yesterday's events played out in his head like a broken record, each time more vividly than the last. Wallace has to snap his fingers in front of him to get his attention. “That's cool– How you're gay and everything. I didn't know.” Scott suddenly says while scratching the back of his head. Wallace nodded with slight confusion.

There was a pregnant pause between the two, with Scott uncomfortably shifting on the bed being the only sound. “Good…kiss…'m not gay. I was drunk!” Scott finally concluded to break the silence. It was Scott's final trump card to prove his ‘straightness’ yet Wallace could only give him a look. “Those two things aren't mutually exclusive, I hope you know that.” It was not effective!

Scott cried out a “Noo!!!!” like he had been defeated and collapsed onto the bed dramatically. Wallace sighed and stroked his bed hair in an attempt to comfort his loss. Scott pouted as he murmured in defeat, “Can we not talk about this anymore?...” Wallace smiled and pressed a chaste kiss onto his forehead, “It'll be our secret.” Scott's cheeks darkened at the act as he made a suggestion, “Can you start doing that?” Wallace rolled his eyes.

Just like that, Scott Pilgrim kissed a guy and he liked it, then he never talked about it. For better or worse.
