Summary
Despite his best efforts, Honghong-er beginss to sink. He’s too tired to continue fighting, his eyes are closing all on their own, and his limbs feel weak.
It’s then that something impossible happens: he feels arms wrapping themselves around him from below him. They gently guide his head to lean against a naked chest that feels oddly smooth, then make sure his arms and legs are secure before swimming upwards with him.
Even stranger, the man starts to hum something under his breath, a low song that Honghong-er can somehow hear perfectly in spite of the water around them. It’s soothing, somehow, he feels as if he’s being told “hold your breath just a little while longer. Soon, you’ll be safe.”
An unlikely encounter Hua Cheng has as a child, at a moment where he'd lost all hope, changes his life foreve, and permanently ties his life to the seas.
