Ennard had been laying pathetically on the carpet floor of the bedroom that they had been assigned, dragging one of their claws up to their face. After practically facepalming, they dragged it down, and one of the nails scratched against their metalic wires, causing an unsatisfying and ear bleeding noise. Elizabeth snickered at the reaction some of the other kids that possessed Ennard had to it; she wanted to do it again to hopefully get them to shut up, but she herself also wasn't too big a fan of the noise. She was mad at the other kids for being too noisy though, they were practically screeching at her that she 'was taking too long to pick a mask to wear'. And, truthfully, she was. She was very picky to say the least about the masks that they wore as Ennard, similarly to how picky she was about what bows she wore when she was alive. She needed it to be a good one, it was very important. At least to her. It was important to a few of the other kids too, but the majority of them couldn't care less about what mask they wore.
"Liz, I'm telling you, this doesn't matter. Like, at all." A deep and brooding voice of a girl chimed in. "Just pick a mask and let's be done with it! You've kept us here forever!". A lot of the kids in Ennard's head agreed with her. Elizabeth felt like she spiritually crossed her arms and huffed at that. "No, just give me a little while longer, I'll pick something out soon." "You said that half an hour ago!" A boy shouted at her in awe of how someone could spend so much time on something that seemingly has no importance at all. Elizabeth didn't care enough to listen to what the majority had to say about it, she was fed up with them. "God, you guys are so annoying. If you stopped SQUAWKING at me for two seconds, maybe I'd have a mask by now!" She argued, throwing her arms up in the air for dramatic effect, trying to get her point accross more assertively, she would say. She did not believe what she said, she knew herself that even if the kids weren't letting out a single peep, she still wouldn't have a mask by now. She was a liar. "No, you wouldn't! It doesn't matter, you're just difficult!"
"I said SHUT UP!" Elizabeth whirred with her electronic voice, but she accidentally used Funtime Freddy's voice box, instead of the Circus Baby one that she usually used. It was not of worry, as his voice was more aggressive. It just helped get her point across, she figured. But then the realization that she had been arguing with her head mates out loud hit her and she felt a wave of embarrassment. It was not out of the ordinary by any means for the kids of Ennard to bicker with one another; they did it often, actually. That's what happens when about 12 different kids possess the same robot. But after a (long) while, they learned to get along somewhat better with each other, but of course, they still had occasional moments such as these where all they did was argue. Their caretaker and Elizabeth's older brother, Michael, had heard their bickering from upstairs. He sighed silently; not in an annoyed way at all, no. He never got mad at any of the kids he took care of, he couldn't. He loved them all too much, but he had an especially soft spot for Elizabeth, obviously. Making his way to her room which she shared with nobody else, unlike the other kids who all had more than one roommate, he figured out what it was they were arguing about before he even stepped foot inside her room.
He knocked on the door politely and softly to alert Ennard that he was there, so he didn't frighten them, and then he slowly creaked open the door. "Hey you guys. What's the matter this time?" he spoke, softly and non-sternly. Ennard moved their head over to look at Michael, but didn't completely uncover their face. They threw on their usual clown mask that they picked up from the bunker before they responded. "Elizabeth is taking WAY too long to pick out a mask, and we're all sooooo boooored!". Michael tilted his head, slightly. "Doesn't she have a collection of over ninety?" he questioned, curiously, genuinely asking, as that is how he last recalled it.
"YES!" Ennard responded eagerly, throwing their arms up. "She's just being SOO difficult, like she always is! How do you get bored of over ninety different masks?!" a kid rambled on angrily about the situation. Michael pondered for a bit, trying to come up with a solution. The kids depended on him for a lot of things, and problem solving was one of them, so he naturally picked up a talent for the matter. And he, of course, picked up that talent from.. Other things as well. It didn't take him long; it was a simple matter with an even simpler solution. "Why don't you guys just give her a new mask?" he stated, genuinely. He didn't think they'd be so opposed to the idea, it was a simple solution. Elizabeth gets a new mask and the kids don't have to wait any longer; it was a win win situation, so Michael was confused when he noticed protests. But Elizabeth was the number one fan of this idea, though. "Ooh! Oh! Oh! Yes, I would love a new one!!" which obviously caused all the other kids to sigh, as Ennard let out a robotic breath of annoyance. They had to put aside the annoying conflict that was fogging their brain right now. "Where would we get a new one, Mikey? We have, like, every mask ever made."
"Hey, no I don't! There are lots of masks I want, but don't have." Elizabeth squeaked out, but was quickly grumbled at, which caused her not to say anything more. Michael shook his head while he tried to think of a mask that he could give her, and then it hit him like a semi-truck. He might still have the one he wore when he was a teenager. The memory of that mask made his stomach sink a little bit, but he wasn't sure if Elizabeth would want it, considering what it was used for. He could still try.
"I think I have an idea. You don't have a foxy one, right?" Michael said. He didn't mean to memorize almost every mask Ennard wore, but with how many different ones she wore every day, it was hard for him not to, and he never noticed her wearing a foxy one before. Ennard nodded her head; she didn't even need to double check, she already memorized every single mask she had, all ninety of them. She giggled a bit in happiness before she allowed herself to answer. "I don't have a foxy one, I have numerous knock offs, but no foxy masks." She answered honestly. She did have numerous knock offs, and a part of her wanted to name every single one, but the kids in Ennard just simply wouldn't let her. They'd forcefully cut her off if she tried.
"I think I may still have the one I liked when I was a kid, if you're interested." he stated. Elizabeth gasped in surprise when she heard that. "THE ONE I USED TO DRAW ON??" She yelped in glee. She hadn't considered the possibility that Michael might still have that mask! She loved that old mask. "It always made you so mad when I drew on it, so that's why I did it so much." Michael smiled awkwardly, letting out a nervous chuckle as she recounted on their past life. Elizabeth scribbled over the Foxy mask all the time, but her favorite 'make-over' to give it was to paint it all white and add little pink cheeks on it to make it look more like what would soon become Toy Foxy. Michael always had to wash it with a hose outside while grumbling about how he is going to break all of Elizabeth's crayons and rip up all of her drawings once he was done. He, of course, never did any of that.
"Haha.. Yeah.. You suure did.." he replied, as he looked toward the ceiling of the hallway, where the attic was located. He remembers that after the.. He wasn't going to think about it, but he put the Foxy mask in a box and hid it away somewhere in the attic of their old childhood house. A part of him wanted to destroy it, but he couldn't bring himself to, so he just hid it. It could very well still be up there somewhere, and it's good that it would be used by someone who'd probably appreciate the sight of it a lot more than Michael did. "I'll go find it for you. Hold tight."
Ennard very excitedly flapped their metal claws up and down rapidly as she giggled very happily. Elizabeth's cheerful mood imprinted onto the other kids, so they all felt a lot less mad at her for taking her sweet, precious time earlier, when it came to picking out a mask for the day. Michael listened in to Ennard's laughter and he felt his heart being warmed; he smiled softly. He was glad that they were all happy, despite their situation. He was glad he made them happy.
Eventually, after a long while of searching through the boxes that were stuffed away in his attic for god knows how long, he found the box that contained the Foxy mask. You could still notice some faint splotches of white and pink paint here and there from when Elizabeth constantly painted over it for fun, if you squinted. He couldn't manage to always successfully get all of the paint fully washed off, but it truly was no matter. He leaned into the door frame of Ennard's room, and she was very patiently sitting on the carpet, fiddling with her claws. Her eyes lit up when she noticed him, and her smile widened even more so when she spotted the mask. She held her claws out in a motion asking for him to hand it to her. When he did, she turned it around in her hands and observed it with a few "ooo"s, before putting it on very contently. She smiled wide as Michael commented on how well it fit her. It seems like their problems had been solved: Elizabeth has a new mask for her collection, one that she had previously adored so, and the kids will no longer have to deal with her taking oh so very long to pick out a mask for the day. All is well, right?
Nope. She got tired of it after one day and a half, and now she's right back to spending thirty minutes a day, just pondering about what mask to wear. There's no winning with that girl. Go figure.
