It was like any other normal day they had. Wake up, have breakfast, say goodbye to master Splinter and head to the surface to meet up with their human friends.
But today, they were heading to somewhere in the sewers. As it turns out that ever since their last fight, their vehicle had been damaged. So donnie decided to find some spare parts to fix it, but he can’t do it alone as he forced Leo to join him on this adventure.
“Donnie, this is exhausting. Couldn’t you have Mikey or Raph join you on this scavenger hunt.” Leo asked Donnie.
“Actually Leo, based on the many adventures we had. Mikey would just distract me with his tomfoolery. And Raph would just smash everything in pure rage. So your the only suitable one that i can trust in it.” Donnie replied.
“Ok. But I’m still your leader, so let’s just find what we need and get back home. I don’t think its a good idea leaving Mikey and Raph all by themselves.” Leo said.
“Oh don’t worry Leo. Because Casey and April volunteered to look after them while we-. {gasp} There it is.” Donnie said as he suddenly points at something.
And it turns out that behind that sewer gate, leads to a hidden Junkyard with sewage water acting as a lake, and there was a waterfall there for some reason.
And so seeing this, the two brothers head inside, but not before they dodge some kind of tripwire.
“Strange, I wonder why would there be a tripwire here? Is someone trying to trap us?” Donnie said being confused.
“Don’t worry about it Donnie, let’s just get this over with.” Leo said.
And so the two brothers start looking for some spare parts in here.

Not 2 minutes in here and Leo was already getting annoyed by Donnie being slow.
As since he’s the smart one, he’s been calculating the parts to see if they are compatible for the vehicle or not. But Leo thinks that this was wasting their time.
“Uh, Donnie? Can you be more quicker already?” Leo asked.
“No I can not Leo, this is the only way to see if these parts are compatible or not. Besides, i think the only problem is that your leadership needs more work and compatibility,” Donnie replied.
Ok. what Donnie said really pissed the fuck out of him.
Like seriously? Compatibility? Lack of leadership? The fact tht they have to leave Mikey and Raph alone for this? It was just not worth it.
And so Leo stops what he was doing and walks towards Donnie with an angry face.
“You take that back from what you said about my lack of leadership!” Leo said.
“Look, you have to understand Leo, it takes time and patience for-“ Donnie said before he was interrupted by Leo.
“Understand? Well at least I’m not an egghead like you! Plus you need to try faster.” Leo said angrily.
“Try faster? TRY FASTER?! I’m sick and tired of following your rules. You may be my brother, but I’m not going to hear you becoming a impulsive leader.” Donnie said as he was now angry at Leo.
The two argue for a bit, and oh boy was it really bad. They were raging up a storm here, and not to mention that there was no one there to witness it.
But then that’s when it happened.
“Well maybe, if you listen to my rules and be a good teammate. We wouldn’t have to be wasting our time, doing something pointless and slow!” Leo yelled at Donnie.
And then Leo did something to Donnie that would change everything.

Leo just slapped poor old Donnie in the face….
When Leo finally calmed down, he realised what he had done to his little brother. And this freaks him out.
He couldn’t believe that he would hit his own brother. The one had the brains, and he just used his brawn against him.
And so he takes a step back from Donnie, who was scared of what just happened.
“Don’t worry Donnie. Just stay right there and I’ll be back with something to treat that mark on your face.” Leo said before he ran off.
But then Donnie noticed that when Leo was running he saw that he was going to run into the tripwire.
“Leo! Wait! Stop!” Donnie screamed.
But it was too late.
As when Leo stepped on the tripwire, suddenly they hear some kin of alarm, and the exit closed off, leaving them confused and shocked over whats going on.
“Leo? What’s going on?” Donnie asked.
“I don know. But hopefully we can find a way out.” Leo replied before he pulls out his katana.
But then while he was trying to open it with his katana, suddenly they hear some kind of robotic noise in the distance.
And when they turned around, it turns out to be one of Baxter Stockman’s mousers.
And what’s worse then 1 Mouser? 100 Mousers! And that wasn’t even the worse part.
As Donnie sees a giant mallet swinging towards Leo. And despite what happene ealier, he decides to save his brother.
“Leo! Look out!” Donnie said. As he pushes Leo away.
Only for Donnie to get hit by the mallet and get sent flying into the lake, which causes Leo to freak out.
“Donnie!” Leo screamed as he runs towards the lake.
But luckily, he sees Donnie resurfacing and gasping for air, which makes him relief.
But not too long as suddenly they both hear and see 2 Mousers messing with a broken car, and somehow got it to work as it starts moving towards the two brother.
And while Leo was able to dodge it, he witnessed it falling onto Donnie and causes him to get trapped underwater with it on his body.
“No!” Leo screamed again.
And so he attempts to dive in and save Donnie. But then gets pulled back by some of the Mousers.
He realises that if he wants to save his brother from drowning, then he has to destroy all 100 Mousers quickly. And so he accepts the challenge.
“Ok Baxter. If this is a game you want to play, where if i win you’ll let my brother go? Then game on.” Leo said as his eyes goes fully white.
And so he charges at them with a battle cry, and proceeds to massacre them.

Everything was a bit blurry to him.
Which would've made sense since he was underwater.
But now’s not the time to think about it as he still needs to swim to the surface. But for some reason he just can’t.
So when he looked around, he noticed that his body was trapped under a car.
This really scared him as, because of this, he was going to die.
But luckily he was able to calm down after realising that Leo was with him. And that he might be able to save him.
And so he waits fro the leader to show up and free him.
While also trying to hold his breathe for a few more minutes.

Leo was still going ham on those Mousers. He was covered in their blood {which is actually oil} and slicing their heads off like he was in beast mode.
He sliced and diced until finally all of the Mousers were killed by him.
But he did noticed one more that was trying to run away from him.
So he just throws his sword at him and lands a headshot.
And so after that he calms down for a moment, until he realises that Donnie was still down there, properly drowning.
“Right I forgot. Hold on Donnie! Your big brother is coming to rescue you!” Leo cried out.
And so just like that, he runs to the lake and dives into it while also holding his breathe.
The water was a bit muddy and icky. Which made sense since they were in the sewers. But he still needs to focus on finding Donnie and getting him back to the surface.
Until eventually he finds his little brother which he was glad about. But he did nearly freaked out when he sees that Donnie is now trapped under the same car that caused him to be sent underwater.
And realising that he might not have much time before he releases all of his air, Leo swims to him and tries his best to life the car out of his brother.
Despite the car being really hard and tough to lift, Leo still gives it a try.
And so with all of his strength, he was finally able to get Donnie out of the car.
But he sees that Donnie was already about to release the last remaining air he had, and this freaks the leader out.
Shit! He thought. The lake was too deep and swimming back to the surface would take too long.
As even if they did somehow managed to get, Donnie would be dead by then.
But then he realises that since he was in here, it means he has no choice but to transfer some of his air into his little brother.
And so just as Donnie opens his mouth to inhale the water, Leo grabbed him by the shoulders, and places his mouth on the purple banded turtle.
Donnie was shocked about it, his brother was giving him some of his air. But he knew that it would be too risky, as by doing that the person who gave another person their air would have less time to breathe underwater.
But seeing that Leo is doing it to save his life, he takes in the air.
And so after that, Leo pulled Donnie away from him and they both began to swim back to the surface.
But while donnie was able to swim back to the surface, Leo suddenly stopped.
He couldn’t move for some reason. He tried and tried and tried again but he still wasn’t moving.
And that’s when he realises that his foot had been caught under some reeds.
No, No! This is how he was supposed to die. If th leader should die, then his brothers would be screwed.
And so he tried to get Donnie’s attention by waving at him but it seems like that the purple banded turtle had ignored him.
He thought that the reason why donnie didn’t notice was that he might be still angry at him for slapping him in the face when they had that argument.
But it was still ok, really. As once he gets his foot untangled then he would swim to the surface and apologise to Donnie about it.
Easy right?
No. Not even close.
As Leo, tugs and tugs on his foot trying to get it out of the reeds. But it was just to strong to get out of.
And to make matter worse, because of the leader giving some air to his brother, Leo has now ess time to hold his breathe.
And just like Leo feared the most, he coughed up a bunch of air and starts inhaling water against his will.
This wasn’t supposed to be happening. He was supposed to be a good leader, he was still 15 years old. He can’t be dead. Not right now.
But that’s just the harsh reality that he has to learn to live.
“So this is how I die huh? Donnie abandoned me and I’m all alone now. What a peaceful way to go out.” He thought.
and so with one last inhale.

So this was how he would die from.
Not from stopping Shredder and saving the world.
But from angering his brother and stepping on a tripwire made by one of their biggest enemies.

Donnie had to managed to get to the surface in time. As now he was coughing up a bunch of water while swimming to the surface.
But when he did, he noticed that something was a bit odd.
Leo wasn’t with him. Why wasn’t he with him?
Unless…..
“Leo. {gulp} Guess like I have to go back down there.” Donnie said before he holds his breathe again dives back into the water.
He was a bit nervous of going back underwater, considering that he just nearly drowned. But it was all worth it for Leo.
As when he did find his big brother. He was horrified to see that Leo’s eyes were now pale and his body wasn’t moving.
And he figured out that the reason why was that his foot was trapped in a pile of reeds.
So he decides to do a heroic thing, and starts pulls the reed’s out of his brother’s foot, without losing any air and drowning too.
He kept pulling and pulling and pulling. Until eventually he was able to free Leo from the reeds. But he still needs to take him back to the surface and check if he’s still alive.
And so he swims back to the surface while holding his big brother.
And even though it was a bit hard, due to how he’s almost about to ran out of air and how Leo is heavier then him, Donnie still pushes through.
And after he kicks his foot one last time, Donnie reaches the surface again and starts gasping for air. Stopping as he sees that Leo is still not moving.
“Hang on Leo, just stay with me ok?” Donnie said to Leo’s {hopefully} unconscious body.
And so the purple banded turtle get’s himself and his brother back onto the ground, and he couldn’t believe how much he missed it.
But now’s not the time to kiss the ground a lot, as he needs to check on Leo.
Donnie rushed to his brother who was still unmoving and decides to check his heart first.
No heartbeat.
Oh, his heart is not beating. Must’ve been his imagination. As he knows that every time Leo gets knocked out his heart would still be beating right?
But it wasn’t his imagination. And it only grew worse when he checked his brother’s pulse.
Only to discovered that the Leader has none.
Ok, no pulse. This must be a sick joke that his mind is playing on him. Leo might wake up and say gotcha.
But he doesn’t think that it was has mind playing tricks on him.
And he realises that his brother and the leader of the team….
Has died from drowning.

“Leo, wake up. I’m not gonna accept this. Please wake up, please.” Donnie said being scared as he shakes his brother’s body.
There was no way he could accept that his brother is now gone.
It was all his fault that he didn’t noticed that Leo had his foot stuck in some reeds when the leader was still alive.
Until he realises that maybe, just maybe there might be someway to bring him back to life.
And remembering that Leo is the medic of the group, he know’s a thing called CPR.
“Ok, ok just stay calm Donnie. Remember what Leo said. First comes the chest compressions which is about 30 times, then the mouth to mouth procedure which takes about 2/3 times and then the process repeats. You can do this.” Donnie said to himself.
He calms himself down after that and is now ready to return the favour.
He did the chest compressions first, which was a bit hard since their turtles and they have plastrons. But he still tries. And despite this, Leo was still unmoving.
Then he did the mouth to mouth procedure, which was a bit awkward. But it was still worth it to save Leo.
And despite this, Leo was still dead.
So he continues the process of doing chest compressions and mouth to mouth.

4 minutes.
4 minutes after Donnie had first started trying to revive Leo.
And during this, he was getting a bit tired.
He was worried that Leo might be dead forever. But he still tries despite all of this.
He wasn’t giving up just yet.
All he wants was a miracle, to see his brother coming back to life and them having a moment as siblings. But that might not happened, as Leo might be far gone.
Until a miracle happened.
As when Donnie was about to give his brother another chest compressions.
Leo started to cough up a bunch of water. Could it really be? Was his brother actually responding to his reviving procedures?
But it didn’t took that long for Leo to stop coughing up water.
And while he was still not breathing, Donnie checked and was relieved and happy that his big brother finally has a pulse after 4 eerily minutes of doing CPR on him.
But he still needs to get Leo to cough out the water in his lungs completely.
So he continues to do CPR on the leader.
Until after 20 compressions to the chest…..
Leo finally wakes up and starts coughing up water harshly.
He could hear his brother again. He thought that he had nearly lost him. But thanks to his efforts, he was still alive.
And so he watches as Leo’s coughing fit calms down and he lies on his back heavily breathing and taking in the air that his body desired for so long. And seeing this causes Donnie to lie down next to him and wait until Leo’s vision comes back and he sees Donnie.
“D-Donnie? Y-You a-actually came back for me?” Leo asked in a raspy voice.
“Yeah, since we always have our backs and that’s all you need to know.” Donnie replied.
“But was I um. Y-You know? Dead?” Leo asked again.
Donnie shook his head which means yes and realising that he had been dead for a few minutes, causes Leo to shiver in fear.
He was dead and Donnie had forced himself to bring him back to life with CPR and even though it was an achievement it was still scary for the purpled banded turtle.
And so after that, they just sit right back up and watch the waterfall in silence.

That was until Leo decided to talk to the Donnie.
“Donnie. I’m sorry for slapping you in the face. It was an awful thing for me to do. And because of this, I got us trapped in here and had myself almost losing my life. I’m actually glad that you still care about me even after what I did to you.and I want to say, thank you for saving me.” Leo said to Donnie.
And this was enough for the purple banded turtle to hug Leo.
“Leo, I’m also sorry for that argument we had. Your still the leader and 15 years old, so it was quite unfair to see you suffer because of what happened. But don’t worry if we are able to find Baxter Stockman, we will make him pay for what he did to you and me.” Donnie said.
“So does that mean you forgive me for slapping you in the face?” Leo asked.
“Yeah.” Donnie replied.
And so Leo hugs Donnie too. Which becomes a tender and sweet moment between the two of them.
And they continue to hug like this until Leo finds a fresh bandage in his pocket and places it on Donnies’ face.
But while that was happening, the purple banded turtle saw that Leo was covered in cuts and bruises.
“Leo? Are you ok? Your shell and body.” Donnie asked nervously.
“It’s alright Donnie. It’s just a scratch. Hopefully we can get them clean and gone when we get home. But how are you?” Leo replied.
“Just a bit tired, even though my plastron is now hurting from the car. Including my hands, who are tired from performing CPR on you.” Donnie said.
“It’s ok. Your pro Ely just tired after what just happened.” Leo said while comforting Donnie.
“Yeah I guess your right.” Donnie said.
And so after that, they both noticed that the gate has opened and decides to head home and hopefully try to find some spare parts for the vehicle tomorrow after they get some rest.
And while they were walking home Donnie looks at Leo and smiles.
As even though what happened today nearly ended a perfect day in despair.
He was still glad that his big brother is still alive.
And that they have each other’s back.
