Work Text:
"Shumai this is boring..."
"We promised to bring cookies to Kaede's move night."
Kokichi let out another exasperated sigh, leaning against the counter with little grace. It was just him and his boyfriend here after all. Speaking of, Shuichi was lucky he was cute all hard at work making the cookies-- a few different kinds so no one would complain. Really, he was too nice sometimes. All Kokichi had done was be the taste tester and mix the dry ingredients, but those parts were done.
"I take it back then. Why didn't we just buy them? Way easier."
"Didn't you say you liked homemade ones better?" Shuichi asked, an amused eyebrow raised as he put them in the oven. Kokichi spluttered, face going red.
"Stupid! Don't be sweet like that so suddenly. My heart's three sizes too small, remember," Kokichi whined.
"I doubt that," Shuichi mused. Rolling his eyes, Kokichi clung to his arm.
"Whatever! I get first dibs anyway, so I guess it's fine."
"They're not all for you though."
"How about just some? Just for me? Because you love me," Kokichi pressed. He didn't really care for the cookies all that much, but Shuichi's reactions were fun.
"Well-- alright. Just don't tell Kaede," Shuichi relented, surprising him by kissing his head out of nowhere and going back to cleaning up the counter. Kokichi nearly let go of him, but he wasn't about to make his life easier.
"Sneak attacks from a detective... How cruel."
But Shuichi only halfheartedly hid his smile. And that made Kokichi only want to tease him more.
When the time rolled around for them to gather in the common room, the two heard their rambunctious classmates before they even made it there. Of course, that was to be expected. Nothing was quiet form long in their section of the dorms, and if it was, something was wrong.
The couch was hardly big enough for all of them, but Kokichi was fine anywhere as long as he could take his rightful place up on his boyfriend's lap.
"Last ones here," Miu noted loudly, snickering, "Damn were you too busy sucking Shuichi off or something?"
Shuichi was quick to go red, only worsened by Kokichi's nonchalant shrug.
"Takes one to know one I guess whore," Kokichi smiled, a wicked glint in his eyes.
"Oh fuck you!"
"I have a boyfriend, thank you."
"Can we have one get-together without this? Just one?" Tsumugi interjected with an exasperated voice.
"Just tune them out, it'll be easier," Kirumi gave her a sympathetic smile. Tsumugi groaned in annoyance, leaning against her shoulder. Kokichi thought they were being needlessly dramatic.
Kaito urged Shuichi over on the couch to the spot next to him. As soon as he did, Kokichi plopped on his lap, earning a halfhearted annoyed nudge from Kaito. They got along enough now, if only for Shuichi's sake. Or at least, they didn't try to pick fights in front of him.
Kaede settled next to Shuichi, and Miu next to her. No one was stupid enough to take Maki's seat while she was getting a drink it seemed, and she settled next to Kaito. Tenko was squished together with Himiko and Angie on a chair in the lounge, and Gonta next to them with Korekiyo. Kiibo eventually was pulled down by Miu, squished between the armrest and the other. Ryoma finally joined them sitting with Kirumi, seemingly joining the less talkative of their classmates. In all honesty, that was fair.
Kaede had chosen a Christmas movie per the season, but Kokichi wasn't sure if anyone was actually interested in it or just the snacks laid out on the table. Kokichi whined until Shuichi fed him one of the cookies. What else was a boyfriend for but to serve his every need? Shuichi seemed to sense his devious thinking and pretended not to notice him asking for another.
All of a sudden, the projection on the screen flickered and on it came a completely different movie. Screams and monsters flashed the screen. Next to Shuichi, Kaito screamed loud enough to match it, clinging to Maki who protested halfheartedly.
Kokichi reached across Shuichi and Kaede to give Miu a high-five, both of them with satisfied smirks on their faces. Kiibo gave them both an half tired half amused look. Shuichi's spluttered as he turned around on his lap, looking up at him excitedly. And looking back were those soft golden eyes he loved so much-- ones that understood him no matter what chapis he was causing. Honestly, the real cheesy Christmas movie could be made purely out of his boyfriend's actions. He was too mushy and romantic for his own good, not that Kokichi would change it for anything.
"Miu, Kokichi, did either of you warn Kaede of your prank? She worked hard to make sure we could all come today," Kirumi scolded her lightly.
"But Kaede doesn't care! Look, she's laughing!" Miu protested. Kaede was hiding her face in her hands but indeed giggles were escaping. Kirumi smiled softly.
"If Kaede's laughing I'm in the clear right? If not, it was all Miu's idea," Kokichi mused, closing his eyes comfortably as Shuichi had started petting his hair. He wasn't going to call attention to it, but he sure as hell wasn't going to stop him either.
"Average degenerate, going right after blaming the woman," Tenko chimed in. Himiko nudged her side.
The original movie was put back on soon enough. Kaito was still side eyeing him, as if he expected him to pull another prank like that out of his sleeve. Scardey cat.
As the class settled down again, Korekiyo murmuring inconsistencies throughout every scene, Kokichi felt at ease enough to lean further into Shuichi's touch. Even a movie as lackluster as this could be tolerable with his boyfriend by his side.
"Cookie," Kokichi murmured, rolling his eyes and adding, "Please."
Shuichi chuckled quietly, relenting to his demands finally. He took forever for such a simple request! He ought to punish him later. Still, for now, he was perfect just where he was.
