Mafuyu looked up at Kanade. They were standing alone in Empty SEKAI. Mafuyu had been crying and it was obvious, as her face was red.
“Go away-! I’m the only one supposed to be here!”, Mafuyu knew deep down that she really needed someone, other than Miku, to be around her.
Kanade thought for a moment before sighing and furrowing her eyebrows.
“I’m not leaving your side, Mafuyu. I am not going to let you stay here alone.”
Kanade wasn’t stupid, so she knew it wasn’t going to be that easy. She knew how hard it would be to get her friend to come back to the real world.
She thought for a moment before leaning in and giving Mafuyu a hug. Kanade didn’t usually give hugs but she could really tell her friend needed one at that moment.
Mafuyu blushed a bit as her eyes went wide before they shut. She had no idea why, but that one hug broke her as she began crying. Kanade pat her back as Mafuyu continued to sob.
Kanade would usually feel uncomfortable. But- for some reason- this time she felt the opposite. She felt somewhat comforted from just having a good friend held in her arms.
“Kanade-“, Mafuyu struggled to get out, “I just wanna stay here…”, she paused and sniffled, “…forever. I just want to disappear… I- I don’t want anyone to remember I even existed.”
Mafuyu buried her head in Kanade’s chest, holding her close. She was feeling someone she never had felt before. Warm. Mafuyu, for as long as she could remember, felt cold, unloved, unwanted. But now, held in Kanade’s arms, she felt that warmth that she’d never felt before.
“Please come back…”, Kanade pleaded once more. Mafuyu thought for a moment, still holding onto Kanade. “I will.”
