"I know the exact shade of gloss Galinda uses when she wants to look innocent versus alluring. I know how many spirals she adds to her hair on average.
    I know.

    Question: Why?'"

    Summary

It had been two years. Two years since the melting, two years since Glinda's life had changed for good. When a new piece of information regarding her lost friend floats into Glinda's ears, she finds herself starting on a path she never thought she would walk.

When her view of everything is horribly disrupted by what she finds, she contracts a sickness. A little cough here and there. Except they weren't little and normal coughs. Those didn't consist of petals.

    Summary

There was more writing crowding that same page, curling around the drawing as though desperate to squeeze every last inch of space. Murth hesitated. Did she even want to keep reading?

It was all so—so incredibly juvenile.

Lady Glinda, who for a long time had been the most powerful woman in Oz, who conducted herself with the unshakable poise of someone befitting her station, who had gathered supporters all over the world with wit and charm and a mind sharper than steel—all of that reduced to a teenage girl involved in petty university dramas.

And involved with the Wicked Witch of the West!

How come that secret had never been brought to light, even years after Lady Glinda's death?

Or, Glinda's handmaiden finds her journal, along with several scandals that are hidden inside the pages.

    Summary

“Elphaba,” Glinda said, her jaw bobbing up and down uselessly. “What did you do?”

She said it as more of a statement than a question because she knew. She could see it quite plainly, the Wizard’s body slumped over on the cold marble floor.

“I didn’t mean to,” Elphaba said. “I mean, I kind of wanted to, but I didn’t know what I was doing.”

Glinda’s eyes narrowed into something judgmental, but honestly not nearly angry enough considering Elphaba had just committed a murder, an assassination at that–-but suddenly there were footsteps. Elphaba paused like a deer in headlights, but Glinda grabbed the Wizard’s feet and dragged him quickly back over to the perch behind the curtain.

“Don’t just stand there. Help me!”

    Summary

The memories of the Melting wouldn’t leave her, and neither did the grief. Glinda tried everything she could to fall asleep: switching rooms, rubbing lavender lotion on her hands, even drinking a foul tasting concoction that one of her handmaidens swore would put her to sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow (it didn’t). And even when she did manage to fall asleep sometime just before dawn, Elphaba’s screams jarred her awake.

So one night Glinda found herself sitting at the desk in her study with a blank sheet of paper in front of her. Dear Elphaba, she wrote, and then watched the words waver at the top of the page. She crossed them out and started over. Dearest Elphaba . It was ridiculous. Elphaba would never read her words again. But she found that they came anyway, faster than she could commit them to paper.

Or: Glinda begins writing letters to Elphaba in the aftermath of the Melting. When she pushes herself beyond the point of exhaustion four years later, Chistery decides to take matters into his own hands and deliver the letters to Elphaba in an attempt to save Glinda's life.
