Work Text:
Noah wasn't a jealous person, and that was a fact.
He didn't get jealous at other people for whatever reason, because he couldn't care less about those people.
If someone got a higher grade than him, which is unlikely, he didn't get jealous. Maybe a bit peeved that somehow this total goose got a higher score than him, but he never found himself wanting that grade, he just took this as an opportunity to study more and get a better grade than the other, and then maybe rub it in their face, but that wasn't the point.
If Owen, who said was his best friend but Noah would deny this, even if it was true, cancelled the plans they made together because Owen forgot or something and accidentally made plans with others and he didn't have the heart to cancel the plans with the others and- this is getting too specific.
What he's saying is that if Owen cancelled their plans to hang with someone else, Noah didn't care, that just meant more alone time for reading, maybe some writing if Noah felt like it.
And of course he wouldn't care if Izzy or Eva went to hang with someone else, if anything he was glad, they were both psychos. Eva less of a psycho than Izzy, of course, but Noah would prefer not hanging with her, since she and Izzy were like a package deal. Where Eva goes, Izzy seems be close behind.
Then there's Cody, and he also didn't care if he hung out with someone else. He wasn't jealous when he saw Cody talk to some rando who kept adding 'sha' into words. How annoying.
Though, he couldn't help but stare at thought at the two from behind his locker, and he didn't recognize the feeling growing in him and nagging him. He scoffed quietly and just shut his locker, going over to his next class and pushing whatever that feeling was deep down.
Right now, Cody and Noah were talking to each other while sitting on a park bench. Though, Cody was mostly the one speaking.
From time to time, Noah would share his opinion on a certain topic, and Cody would either agree with his opinion or fight him and tell him how his opinion sucked total ass.
Noah would always deny that he actually kind of enjoyed just talking instead of running around doing something ridiculous like he usually did with Owen or Izzy.
The mood was nice, and it was peaceful just sitting here.
That was, until that dude from last time showed up.
He came up to the other two while jogging, and he instantly lit up at the sight of Cody, who did the exact same. Cody completely stopped his conversation with Noah to stand up from the bench and hug the boy, who hugged back. Noah hoped the man smelled bad or something so Cody would be disgusted and make him leave them alone.
Noah froze as he thought about this, but quickly ignored it and just stared at the two.
Cody pulled from the hug soon and smiled up at the boy. "Lighting! Dude, what are you doing here??" And the boy, Lighting, smiled back, putting his hands on his hips. "Just going for a sha-jog! You know how it is!" And for some reason Cody chuckled. Why did he chuckle? There was nothing funny about that.
And just like that, Cody and Lighting began to talk, and Lighting had the nerve to sit on the bench with Noah, who side-eyed him so hard. Noah wanted to leave, but he didn't just want to up and leave without no reason, though he just might if Lighting stays here any longer.
Noah wasn't jealous, he just thought it was annoying the way Lighting added 'sha' to everything.
Soon, Lighting stood up with a stretch. "Well, I should get back on my sha-grind, see you later Codes!" He waved at Cody, who waved back with a small 'see you later' and then he dared to wave at Noah, who just stared at him with the blankest blank stare of all blank stares. The holy God of blank stares, to be exact.
Lighting didn't seem to notice and continued on his jog, and Noah felt small relief when Cody apologized to him and instantly went back to their conversation like they were never interrupted in the first place.
Once more, Noah and Cody were talking, only now they were walking in the school halls and were on their way to their shared class.
This time, Noah spoke a bit more than last time, since this was a topic he actually liked and knew all about, which was a great opportunity to flex how smart he was.
Noah was just about to tell Cody a fact about the topic, before a loud yell of Codys name was heard from down the hall, and there was a tall purple haired girl running right for them.
Noah grimaced and then watched as she ran towards Cody, who seemed quite startled at the girl. Noah also watched as the girl wrapped his arms around Cody and picked him up with ease, shoving his face into her breasts, and Noah didn't know if that was intentional or not. Either way, he was disgusted.
Cody pulled his face away and chuckled awkwardly up at the girl, looking uncomfortable. "Oh, hey, Sierra.." And the girl beamed and seemed to become a thousand times happier when Cody said her name. "EEEEEE!!! Hi, Codykins!!! How are you??!!" She practically screeched, and other students' gaze landed on the three of them.
Cody sighed and looked off to the side. "I'm fine, Sierra. Can you put me down?" He then looked up at Sierra once more, who instantly put Cody down. Cody sighed in relief and dusted himself off, then gave a soft smile to Sierra, who returned it with a wide one.
Noah then watched Sierra wrap an arm around Cody, pulling him close, and Noah soon started to feel that feeling he thought he shoved deep down inside of him rise up. He stared at the two and then looked away, feeling himself getting angry for no reason.
He crossed his arms and looked back at the others, then looked over to Cody. "I'll see you in class." He said, then instantly turned around and began to walk to his class, rolling his eyes as Cody kept saying things like 'wait!' and 'Noah!'.
Noah was watching Cody talk with Lighting again with a slight glare. Seriously, why was it always Lighting? What was with him? It annoyed Noah so much, and he just wanted the boy to go away.
He continued to glare at the two from across the hall, and he seemed so focused on that that he didn't notice Heather, the queen bee, slam her fist on the locker next to him, causing Noah to screech slightly and jump, looking at Heather with wide eyes.
He calmed down once he realized it was only Heather, and raised an eyebrow, silently asking what Heather wanted. The girl scoffed and rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. She then looked over to Cody and Lighting, then back at Noah. "Why are you glaring at Cody and Lighting like that? They kill your dog or something?" She raised her own eyebrow, matching Noah.
The boy rolled his eyes like Heather did, then glared at her slightly. "I'm not glaring at them." And Heather was obviously not convinced. "Yet you look like it. Why are you glaring at Cody?" She asked, and Heather glared right back at Noah.
Noah seemed a bit shocked at the accusation and crossed his arms. "I'm not glaring at Cody." He admitted, and Heather tilited her head and narrowed her eyes. "So why are you glaring at the.. Thunder guy, or whatever."
"That's not any of your business, now is it?" Noah glared harder at Heather, then looked off to the side at Cody and Lighting, then back to Heather.
The girl just looked Noah up and down, then smirked, turning around and walking away from a slightly confused Noah.
He wondered what was going through Heathers brain, if she even had one. He also wondered why she even cared in the first place.
The next time he saw Cody and Lighting hung out was when Noah was trying to find Cody since they were supposed to work on this group project together.
He was walking around in school and trying to find the brunette, and he was getting quite impatient. He finally found the damn kid near the gym talking to Lighting, and he glared at them before walking up to the two.
Noah reached them and cleared his throat loudly, making the other two look at him with slightly shocked expressions. Cody instantly smiled when he saw it was Noah. "Oh! Hey, Noah! Oh, wait, we were supposed to do that group project right? It completely slipped my mind, sorry." He apologized awkwardly, and Noah just rolled his eyes.
"It's whatever," He side-eyed Lighting for a second before looking back at Cody. "Let's go somewhere else and plan a get together so we can study." He then grabbed Codys wrist and immediately started to pull him, and Cody protested before letting it happen, sheepishly waving goodbye at a confused Lighting.
Noah couldn't help the smug smile that was growing on his lips.
Noah was at home and just finished brushing his teeth, placing his toothbrush back in its cup and walking into his room, changing into his pajamas and then went to his desk, grabbing out his school book and going to the page they were working on, beginning to read.
Though, he wasn't able to concentrate much, since his phone seemed to keep going off. He grumbled and grabbed his phone from the desk, about to put it on silent before seeing a message from none other then Cody.
His lips pursed and he opened up the message, his eyes scanning the texts.

Noah stared at the messages with a raised eyebrow, then sighed and began to type out a response.

Noah was about to put his phone down to continue to study, before a ding came and the phone vibrated, causing him to grumble and look at the new message Cody sent.

Noah grumbled something and finally put his phone down, going back to his studying and beginning to read. But the plans for tomorrow were stuck on his brain, and he couldn't focus on anything.
His leg bounced as he thought about the cafe he and Cody were going to, and more importantly, Cody.
This was so strange, this hasn't happened since.. whatever. He would need to ask for.. help. He groaned and threw his head back, then grabbed his phone and began to text a certain blond.
"It sounds like my little buddy has a crush!"
Owen said, and Noah stared at him like he was insane and belonged in an insane asylum.
"What? A crush?? On Cody? No way. I don't have a crush on him. He looks twelve. And his haircut sucks." Noah retorted, crossing his arms and glaring at Owen, who was sitting on his bed the same night Cody texted him and made plans with him. Noah was surprised Owen was able to make it to his house so quickly.
Owen just chuckled and stood up, smiling wide. "Come on!! It's the only explanation!!" He tried, making some hand gestures as he spoke. Noah looked up at him and crossed his arms, raising an eyebrow. "And how is that the only explanation??"
Owen then began to count things off his fingers. "Well, you get jealous whenever Lightings around, or Sierra for that matter! And, you've always looked happy when you're with him, and you let him hang around you! It's like when you had a crush on Em- Owie!!" And before Owen could finish, Noah kicked Owen in the shins. Not very hard, though.
Noah huffed and glared at Owen. "We agreed not to talk about that!" He threw his arms out, and Owen frowned, looking down at Noah. "Sorry, little buddy..."
Noah just sighed and sat down on the bed, not being able to stay mad at the big guy for long. He was starting to think about his words, and looked over to him. "You really think I could have a crush on that.. geek??" And Owen just smiled, nodding.
The tan boy continued to think about it, and it seemed like everything clicked into place. He groaned and put his head in his hands. "Ughh.. I'm meeting up with him tomorrow. What am I gonna do?"
Owen gently patted Noahs back with a small frown. "Well.. maybe you could tell him?" He suggested, and Noah stayed silent, before looking up at Owen. "No way. I'm not telling him shit." And Owen just sighed. "But, Noah! You have to!" And the shorter just stood up and shook his head.
"No. I'd rather not."
And Owen decided not to push the topic.
That night, Noah didn't get much sleep.
