Work Text:

Jotaro expects a quiet Christmas, as he usually does every year.

Christmas consists of him and his daughter. There were, of course, times during that holiday where the two of them got an invite from Jiji or his mom, but over the years it largely has become the two of them just celebrating it and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

The day of when the holiday arrived, the house became filled with Jolyne’s shouts of excitement, dragging him out of his bed to open the many presents he got for her. Many have tried to warn him not to spoil her too much, but Jotaro never listened, knowing her joyous smile was worth more than any of the money he spent on her gifts. Jotaro opened his gifts too, laughing quietly to himself with her consistent insist to open them, hoping that everything she got him he would love.

(Of course, Jotaro always loved them because how could he not love anything his daughter got him.)

Afterwards, when they were done opening their presents, much to Jolyne’s dismay of not staying in her pajamas all day, they got dressed. She chose to wear a Christmas themed outfit and he wore his black turtleneck and some white slacks, making it easy for him when they had to cook. As soon as they were done, Jotaro made his way down to the kitchen, getting the food and materials ready for the meal they were going to make. In a second, his daughter was right behind him, listening to his orders as she got the cut board and the knife out. The rest of the day consisted of them being in the kitchen, helping one another out as they made the meals his mother had given recipes for, Jolyne yelling into his ear when he slipped up and not following the instructions she had carefully written for them. Eventually, when all the food was out of the oven or off the stove, they eat it together and watched movies for the rest of the night. The night officially ends when Jolyne falls asleep on him, not even finishing the second movie they put one on. Jotaro carried her up the stairs and they both went to bed.

It’s how Christmas always went for them, except this year.

This year he has a much more rude awakening than before.

Jotaro is brought to consciousness through a powerful force against his chest, knocking the wind out of him as he jolts up. Star comes out beside him, floating in a defensive stances as he tries to find the source of the violent awakening.

With a quick glance, he finds the culprit, giving her a heated glare.

Jolyne smiles at him innocently as she lays comfortably on his bed, he is greeted by these words from her.

“Merry Christmas, Dad,” Jolyne mischievously exclaims to him, smile becoming wider.

Before he is able to get a word out, another voice pipes in.

“Look! Sleeping beauty is awake!” Josuke greets him, standing by the side of his bedroom door, letting bright yellow light enter his room. His response gets snorts from Giorno and Jolyne. Giorno being the one to cover his mouth from the noise.

This year is so different because both Josuke and Giorno are celebrating Christmas with him.

The choice to let Giorno and Josuke live with him for Jolyne’s junior year was one he made to save money on his phone bill, not at all because he wanted to or because he missed them.

(That was the obvious reason, but he would have to be dead to pull that out of Jotaro’s mouth.)

They partially called him 24/7 until he agreed with it, the shout from Josuke making his ears ring for the rest of that day. They arrived at his house within the next two days with all of their belongings, Jotaro not even being fast enough to fix the two guest bedrooms in his house. His once peaceful home exploded into chaos, being exhausted at the end of every day. He was obviously aware of the firework Josuke was, energy practically oozing off of him the moment you step close to him. That firework energy mixed wonderfully with Jolyne’s enthusiasm, somehow always hearing the two of them yell even when they were outside . The duo were always up to something, whether it was to prank him or to almost set the kitchen on fire, he always had to be on his toes around him, scared for what appliance they would ruin next.

The thing he should have looked out for the most was for Giorno

Giorno was a devil in disguise.

The man keeps up a great facade of being a quiet and timid person, never thinking he could do anything bad, even with the things he has seen him do in Italy. But, boy did Giorno throw him for a loop.

With his responsibilities seeming to lessen now that he lives here in Florida and not in Italy, it was like a switch flipped off of him and became exactly the type of gremlin Josuke was when he was a teenager. He was always willing to help with the house and take care of Jolyne when needed, but when he was with his daughter and Josuke, he became a completely different person.

He can count on all his fingers and toes the amount of times Giorno turned one of his personal possessions into an animal, just to make him late to work. One moment he clearly remembers is when one morning, right as he grabbed the keys for his car, he was met face to face with a seal on the hood of his silver car. As exciting as it was to see this, it took him a full hour to convince Giorno to return whatever object he turned into the seal back. The man’s coy smile never left his face as he opened the car door for him, green eyes having the same mischievous glint as Jolyne’s.

“I hope your boss will be nice and understand why you were late,” Giorno cooly told him, his smile getting wider.

Jotaro’s eyes widened.

“You mother —”

He couldn’t even finish the word, the man’s cackling echoing in his ears as she slammed the door shut.

(Thankfully, his boss understood, laughing his ass off when hearing the reason behind him being late. Perks of being a marine biologist.)

His house is one that is filled with never ending chaos and having to always wait to use the bathroom, since the three of them insist on doing their hair all together.

Jotaro wouldn’t have it any other way.

Right now though, he is considering the idea of kicking them all out of the house.

Jotaro grumbles to himself as he rolls over to his side of the bed, facing the white door to his closet. He grabs the covers and brings them completely over his bed, blocking the light and hopefully, it will be the thing to get them all back to bed.

It does not work.

Instead, Jolyne plops herself onto his side, elbows digging uncomfortably in his ribs, but he has no desire to move. He doesn’t even have to remove the covers to know that her smile has become bigger.

Jolyne then starts to do the worst then; shake him.

“Come on, Dad! It’s Christmas!” Jolyne shouts way too loudly in the morning, telling him she has been up for a long time. “You have to get up.”

“I’ll get up for Christmas when the sun is out,” Jotaro grumbles back, sinking his head deeper into the pillow.

He feels the way she slides off to him, now being right in front of him. Her hand pulls the covers off him, once again meeting the darkness of her room. Her green eyes lock onto his teal blue ones.

“The sun will be up in an hour, Dad! It doesn’t hurt to celebrate Christmas early.”

Jotaro groans as he completely places his head into the pillow, it becoming louder when he hears Jolyne giggle from his reaction.

“I would like to celebrate Christmas the time we normally do it.”

“That’s at 8 A.M, Dad! That is only a two hour difference!”

“A two hour difference of where I get more sleep,” he explains as he grabs the covers to hide from the world again.

The bed shifts from the new weight that is added, a soft chuckle that he can easily identify as Giorno. To his right side, he could feel the way he raises up slightly from the way Josuke has decided to jump on the bed, Jotaro letting out another groan from him. A laugh leaves Josuke’s lips.

“Let’s leave him alone, Jolyne,” Josuke tries to reason with her. “The old man obviously needs his sleep.”

That’s another unfortunate thing the two of them have picked up on when being around Jolyne, his desired nickname of old man, something he is not .

Jotaro instantly shoots out of his bed, the covers fall off him when doing so. He stares down at his uncle with the most heated glare he can think of.

“I am not an old man .”

“So, the old man is awake!” Josuke exclaims with the dreaded nickname again, making his glare become one of ice. He completely ignores his face as another laugh leaves his lips, wrapping his arm around him to drag him down his level. “I know he would want to celebrate Christmas with us.”

“Buon giorno, Jotaro,” Giorno greets him, the only nice thing that is said to him this morning. A small smile plays on his lips. “I am glad to see you awake.”

“Yeah!” Jolyne adds on. “I knew you would eventually wake up!”

“Against my will,” Jotaro mumbles underneath his breath. Jolyne must have heard him say that because of the shocked gasp that leaves her mouth, hitting the side of his arm lightly.

“It was not against your will, Dad!”

“Ah yes, I love being awakened by my daughter jumping onto top of me. It’s a way that is not at all against my will.”

Jolyne huffs indignantly as she crosses her arms, looking away from him.

“Whatever,” she mumbles like him moments before. “You wouldn’t have woken up early for Christmas if this didn’t happen.”

His heart twists painfully at that, knowing how untrue that statement is. Jotaro would do anything she wanted, no matter how silly they could be. If she wanted him to wake up for Christmas early, then he absolutely and always will.

Jotaro releases himself from the grip Josuke had on him, to instead turn himself to give her a hug, pressing a slight kiss to her forward.

“Jolyne, you know I would wake up early if you wanted me to.”

Her giggle and repriocation of his hug tells him she understands what he means.

“I know,” she tells him, snuggling further into his chest. He begins to rub her back, much to his daughter’s delight.

“Hey!” Josuke shouts. “Where’s my hug!”

“Josuke, you literally just gave him a hug,” Giorno says flatly, blonde brow raised high. Josuke sputters before pointing at him accusingly.

“That wasn’t a hug!”

“It was a side hug.”

“He gave Jolyne a full hug, I want that type of hug!”

“A side hug is still a hug,” Giorno argues with Josuke, placing his head on his hand as he (and even Jotaro) both start to lose brain cells from this conversation.

Jotaro decides to put an end to it by throwing him a deadpan expression.

“You don’t get a hug.”

“Why not?!”

“She’s my daughter,” Jotaro logically explains. “She always gets my hug first.”

His uncle blows raspberries as he crosses arms, a slightly annoyed expression crosses his face. He leans against the pillows of his bed, staring at his daughter with an evil eye. Jotaro hugs Jolyne tighter.

“Favorite,” the man grumbles out, sinking further into the pillows.

“She is.”

Josuke’s shocked face makes Jolyne and Giorno cackle, she looking directly at him with a proud smile.

“I knew it!”

Jotaro chuckles as he leans closer to his daughter.

“You always will be,” he whispers to her. “Don’t tell them that.”

She chuckles as she winks at him, giving him another hug.

“I won’t.”

“Good.”

Another chuckle leaves her lips, a small grin forming on his face from it.

As much as it saddens him, he lets go of his daughter, to stretch his arms, rolling them around to relieve any of the soreness he feels in them. Once satisfied with working the tension out of his muscles, he puts them back down, all of them looking at him curiously.

“Well,” he starts. “Aren’t we going to start celebrating Christmas now?”

Jolyne shouts excitedly, jumping up to wrap her arms around his neck. Her smile was as bright as the sun, telling him thank you over and over again. There is a smug grin on Giorno’s face, it being directly pointed at the flabbergasted look of Josuke.

“I told you he would get up.”

“I just thought—”

Silencio , Josuke,” the blonde man tells him, hand now out as his fingers curl into his palm. “Hand over the money.”

With a loud groan, Josuke fishes for the money out of the pocketed pajamas and hands it over to the man. In the glimmering light, he can see the way the 20 dollar bill shines.

Jotaro’s brow raises.

“You bet on this?” He asked, wondering why on earth they would bet on his waking up.

“Of course we did, Jotaro,” Giorno replies back as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “Josuke had no faith in you waking up, so I had to prove him wrong.”

He scoffs, for once, amused by Giorno’s childish actions.

“Good job, Giorno.”

The small smile on the man’s face became a little wider, pleased that he was able to make Jotaro happy.

It seemed Jolyne’s patience reached her limit because she crawled out of the bed, pulling on his arm rather forcefully. Her deadpan expression could rival his own.

“Come on, Dad! Get out of bed! We have to start Christmas now!”

“Alright, alright, I’ll get out,” Jotaro says with a playful huff, removing the covers off of him completely. “We’ll start celebrating soon.”

“Yay!” Jolyne happily yelps before what looks like a lightbulb goes off her head, letting go of his arm. Her attention turns towards Josuke and Giorno. “Guys! We have to get the gifts all set up.”

“We will do that as your dad gets ready, okay?” Giorno tells her, as he pats the top of her shoulder.

“Then let’s get going slowpokes!” Jolyne yells at them, already by the top of the stairs, gunning it as soon as she finishes speaking. Josuke gasps loudly at that, immediately throwing himself off the bed.

“I am not a slowpoke!” Josuke tries to defend himself, but is quickly shut down by Giorno.

“You are.”

Shush, Giorno!

“Hey, be nice to me. It’s Christmas, Josuke.”

Giorno!

Giorno and Josuke fight the whole way down, the blonde man’s polite laughter being the sound that was louder than them going down the stairs. Jotaro gets up from the bed, now fully awake from the noise of all of them, somehow even being louder than Jiji. His house is becoming the chaotic self he has grown used to as he hears them argue down stairs, a chuckle leaving his lips from hearing this. It’s awake with people, people happily celebrating the holiday with one another and he realizes at that moment that he likes Christmas like this. He likes celebrating Christmas with Giorno and Josuke.

This is a Christmas he could get used to celebrating.

Notes:

Giorno and Josuke always celebrate Christmas with Jotaro and Jolyne after this moment! :D

Anyways, thank you so much for reading and have a nice day! :D
