“Are you free on Christmas Eve?” Kanae asks.
Kuzuha tries to gage Kanae’s implication, but is met with an innocent smile.
“Sure.”
Christmas with Kanae meant having to give Kanae something. Yes, Kuzuha could buy some games or pc equipment, but that was somewhat basic.
Then…how did he end up in front of a jewellery shop?
Kuzuha stepped in, observing the excited couples picking wedding rings. Of course, Christmas season also meant proposal to your loved one in this festive season.
Kuzuha loved Kanae. He didn’t try to deny it, more like he didn’t bother or want to try. Proposals felt stiff, with a certain procedural, with a certain time length.
A friendly clerk questioned what he would like to purchase, which he asked for advice.
“Is it possible to be matching?” Kuzuha clarified.
“Most items can be customised.”
“That’ll work.”
Kuzuha left the store, feeling pleased with himself.
Kanae had already prepared much for this day. While rewatching Starblackgazers, Kanae wondered if they could have matching rings. It could be interpreted both platonically and romantically , hoping for the latter.
When Christmas Eve came, everything was all hustle and bustle.
“Shall we take a walk?” Kanae smiled.
Kuzuha wondered what could Kanae want possibly in the cold winter, still following him nonetheless.
They walked for who knows how long, eventually sitting down on a lone park bench.
“You know, thank you for this year. I really enjoyed this year to you. So will you continue being my partner? Either platonically or romantically?”
Kanae didn’t dare to look up.
“Are you…are you confessing?”
Kanae nodded.
“Aw…man. I was going to do it first…”
Kanae looked up, peeping up at him.
A silver white vampire had turned crimson red, covering his face.
“Do you like me?” Kanae tilts his head teasingly.
“Does this show?”
Kuzuha pulls out a pair of matching necklaces, a blue and red jigsaw piece, identical to the one they shot the music video with.
Kuzuha was then enveloped with a big bear hug by Kanae.
“i’m glad. I’m so relieved we share the same feelings.”
Kuzuha wrapped his hands around his back, gently patting him.
This was truly considered a Christmas miracle.
They went back home, cuddled up together underneath a shared blanket.
“merry christmas” Kanae said, pressing a kiss on Kuzuha forehead.
“merry christmas” Kuzuha said, squeezing Kanae’s hand a little tighter.
