Max was putting the last ornament on the tree when he heard a sweet laugh from behind him.
-It's unbelievable that you are so precise, even when you decorating the tree - Charles stepped next to him while stroking his back -I don't think there is a tree decorating world champion title, but mon chéri, you could even win that.
-Just make fun of me, you don't have to celebrate Christmas here - replied the Dutchman with a cheeky smile, to which he received an offended look from his partner.
-I didn't even hear that - laughed Charles while watching his boyfriend with his head tilted to the side -Would you be able to send me away on our first Christmas together? I don't think so.
-You're lucky you're so cute - Max caressed his partner's face. The two boys stared when they heard a small meow from under the tree.
-Your furry children won't destroy the tree, will they? - asked the Monégasque as he bent down to pet Jimmy.
-They've never done it before. They walk around, look at it, but don't jump on it. I raised them well. - Max laughed and sat down on the carpet, so he could easily reach the cat. His partner did the same, so they were both sitting on the ground next to the tree.
As Charles looked around, it was all so homely, so full of love. Max -whom he couldn't imagine his life without- and him together in the warm apartment around the Christmas tree with their little furry children. The whole thing almost seemed like a dream, but it wasn't. As he thought about these things, he became a little emotional, which Max soon noticed.
-Everything is alright? - he asked with a faint concern in his voice.
-Of course, mon chéri - replied Charles with a small smile -I was just thinking...about everything - he gestured with his hands around them -About the last year, about the fact that we are here together now, how good it is – he concludes with a big smile and leaned closer to kissed him.
Max didn't hesitate, gently wrapped his arms around Charles and pulled him closer. They were almost sitting on top of each other and holding each other tightly, while their lips never left each other for a moment, as if they had just melted together.
They were just enjoying themselves when they heard a small meow from the other side.
-Guys, not now - moaned Max without letting go.
-They want us to pay attention to them too - Charles giggled into the kiss - Little attention seekers.
-Hey, you're talking about our children - replied the Dutchman with fake offense, then let go of his partner -As a matter of fact, they really like the attention.
Since they have been together, this is not the first time that cats have disturbed them. Of course, it was never a big problem, since they are always happy when someone shows up next to them, and Charles is especially happy because he feels that they have accepted his presence.
-They are just like their daddy, don't you think dear? - Charles laughed as he pulled closer.
-Hey, sounds like someone don’t want to get his amazing present -the blonde said teasingly -By the way which dad are we talking about? – he asked back with a cheeky smile as he looked at his boyfriend with shiny eyes and run his hand through the others hair -Because now they have two.
-So I officially became their dad? - the Monégasque looked at its partner with sparkling eyes while stroking the cat who was still lying under the tree.
-Well, if you want it too, then yes – come the soft reply in a little but definite voice. Max didn’t look in his eyes for a good moment and his cheeks are a bit red, almost like he’s suddenly all shy which is defenetly not his usual behavior.
Charles didn't say a word, he just jumped on his partner and kissed him wildly, surprising him with his action. He knew very well how important these cats were to his boyfriend and with that he felt that they really became a family, no matter how strange it sounds. The wedding was out of the question for now and so this was the closest thing they could call a family. Of course Charles already knew that Max trusted him, but with this, it was as if they had stepped on a level. This was better than any material gift could be. This was the ultimate gift he could ask for -well, almost as good as a world champhion title- and he got it.
-I think it's a yes - Max chuckled, then looked deep into his eyes - Merry Christmas Charley.
-Merry Christmas Max - he answered with a sensitive smile and if someone would say that he had some tears in his eyes he would denie it with his life.
