Work Text:

Foolish had been halfheartedly building a snowman with his daughter, putting on a font for her sake. He was sad, even if he should be happ, it was Christmas! Foolish loves Christmas and, normally, he goes all out for it. Decorating his whole property at the start of december and beginning his christmas baking when the first snow falls.

Not this year though. This would be his first Christmas without his partner. If Foolish likes christmas, Vegetta loves it. He’s the one who made a playlist of the families favorite christmas songs to blast through the house, he's the one who plays in the snow with Leo and he's also the one that makes christmas dinner every year, a tradition that they have never missed. Except for this year. This year he wasn’t here when the first snowflakes fell, and he won't be here to cook christmas dinner. Henth why Foolish is outside, playing in the snow with his daughter, so she doesn't miss out on the tradition. Not all is lost either, because even if Foolish can't cook, Roier, his son, can and they have decided that he will be the one bringing most of the food to the get-together this year. They’ll still have a family event, even if it’s just with Foolish, Roier and the three kids, Leo, Bobby and Richarlyson. Which is still quite nice, even without their significant others.

And the presents! He nearly forgot about the presents! There is already a whole pile underneath Familia Browns christmas tree, some for Roier and his kids, but most for Leo. Normally, Vegetta would also get presents, Foolish had bought them when he was out Christmas shopping, when he still held out hope his husband would come back. They lay, wrapped, in their bedroom, waiting for their receiver to come back. If he ever does. Foolish immediately shook the thought out of his mind. No. He will come back, eventually.

Foolish knew he wouldn’t get to see Vegetta this Christmas, still, he selfishly hoped for at least a card. Which reminded him, he hadn’t gotten a card in ages, and he started to get a little sad at the thought. He knew this was selfish of him, his husband was stuck in the middle of a war, not fully sure if he would survive or not. He might not be able to write postcards right this time.

Foolish was just helping Leo choose a carrot for the nose in the kitchen, when BadBoyHalo, Foolishes annoying neighbor, who apparently has no regard for private property, bust through the door.

“Foolish” The man yelled, even though the man he was yelling for was standing in the kitchen, almost directly in front of him. He stamped off his shoes, but didn’t take them off, leaving a small trail of mud as he marched towards the man he was just yelling for.

“I have a surprise!” The man continued, paying no regard to Foolish shouting at him to take off his shoes.

“Follow me” the brown haired man snagged a cookie before grabbing Foolishes arm, dragging him out of the house, with Leo following. He waited for the two to take on their shoes, then proceeded to drag them both along their driveway.

They started to walk, towards where? Only Bad knew, and he was pointedly only talking to Leo, completely ignoring Foolish when he asked where they were going.

They made their way into the towns center, and Foolish recognised where they were heading. He hadn’t walked this way since he bid good-bye to the love of his life. Mabye he was back and they were picking him up? Foolish choked back the thought, not letting himself get his hopes up. They were probably going somewhere else, and it was just a coincidence. There were a lot of shops in that area of-course..

He tried to convince himself of this fact and stopped trying to get an answer out of Bad, opting to sort out his inner turmoil instead. Convincing himself that they weren't going where he thought they were became harder and harder the closer they got to the location. When the train station got into view, he felt his heart raise to his throat. Were they actually doing what he thought? It took most of his self control to not start sprinting to the station.

They made it onto the platform just as a train rolled in. Just then, he thought of something. Forever, Bads roommate, was also at war. Perhaps Bad just brought them to pick him up instead. He felt his heart sink to his stomach. Still, he couldn’t help but scan the faces for his husband.

Just then, he heard a yell

‘Papi’

It was Leo.

He twisted his head around so fast he momentarily saw black spots. Once they went away, he saw Vegetta, the beautiful love of his life, holding their darling daughter in his arms. He immediately ran over to them, spotting his son in law, Cellbit, standing beside his husband. Giving Vegetta a proper once over, he immediately saw that he was only wearing one shoe, and spotted the way the man was leaning onto his son-in-law, seemingly needing help to balance his weight. His husband stopped kissing his daughter's face, making her squeal as he tickled her at the same time, and spotted his husband. Looking at the taller man, he smiled softly, and put his daughter down. He opened his arms slightly and Foolish melted into them. Tears started to flow down both of their faces and they spent a while just standing there hugging and crying, whispering how much they’ve missed the other. They only pulled apart when they heard Roier and his two kids arrive, Richarlyson immediately threw himself into his fathers arms, nearly making him lose his balance.
Vegetta, now unstable without the extra support, struggled on one leg. Foolish wrapped an arm around his husband's waist, pulling him closer. Vegetta felt a shiver go down his spine. It had been ages since he had last been in his beloved's embrace. He looked up at that beautiful face he had missed, seeing tears running from those shiny emerald eyes. Reaching up, Vegetta pressed a kiss on both of his lovers cheeks, ignoring the slightly salty taste. Foolish imedietly redend, and the sight made Vegetta giggle slightly. Oh, no matter how many years had passed and no  matter how many kids they had, the two were still the love-birds from all those years ago.

Once the train station was nearly fully empty, they heard someone clear their throat behind them. Looking back, Foolish saw Bad standing there, shuffling from foot to foot. He was about to thank his neighbor when the man opened his mouth,

“Can we get going now? I’m starting to get cold”

Foolish huffed, just when he was starting to tolerate the man..

He was going to suggest staying at the train station just a little longer, if only to annoy Bad, when his husbands words stopped him,

“ Si, let's go home!” He pressed a kiss on Foolishes cheek. And, god, he had never been good at saying no, let alone to his beautiful husband.

As the six made their way out of the train station, Foolish begged for an explanation on how Bad knew his husband and son-in-law were coming back. Turns out, Bads roommate, Forever, was a doctor, and he sent a letter home to bad once he knew the two were going to be discharged. Foolish then needed to know how they got hurt in the first place. Apparently, someone threw a bomb at them, blowing off Vegetta's leg and making a hole in Cellbits stomach. Luckily, with the help of alot of stiches, Cellbit is almost as good as new. Vegetta, on the other hand, had to have his leg amputated, as it was too infected to save.

Soon, they arrived at Roier and Cellbits place, and bid goodbye to the family, promising to meet again the next day, for Christmas dinner.

The four made their way back home to them, dropping Bad off by his driveway with invitations to come to their Christmas dinner, the next evening.

Then, finally, they were home.

Excitedly, Foolish helped Vegetta take off his shoe, and brought the shorter man into their house. After almost a year of being gone, Vegetta immediately collapsed into his chair by the fire, having hobbled along all the way from the train station on only one leg seemed to have drained most of his energy. Leonarda, who had been filling her dad in on all he had missed, ran to the kitchen to choose the perfect cookie for her dad. While she was preoccupied, Foolish sank onto his husband's lap, throwing his arms around the older man. He leaned closer, and Vegetta connected their lips. Foolish sighed contently into the kiss. It had been so long since they had seen each other. They pulled apart to breathe, and Foolish started peppering his husband's face with kisses.
Soon, he will build Vegetta cruches, but for now he was content to simply be in the other mans presence.

God was he glad the love of his life was back home.

Thank you for reading!!
Please feel free to give constructive feedback in the comments!!

Also, I had the idea that, after they dropped Vegetta off at the train station, Leo would run away to see if her dad had returned yet. But i couldn't fit it into the story so im writing it here instead!
