Work Text:
It was so peaceful day.
BAM
But not for Shirokane Rinko, as she is currently in a life and death situation where one of her classmates, Hikawa Sayo, kabedon her against one of the walls on the school roof.
"Forget what you just saw yesterday Shirokane-san," Sayo said with a flat face, though Rinko couldn't look her in the eye due to the close distance between their faces.
"Ye-ye-yes Hikawa-san," she said as she closed her eyes.
A few seconds later, she slowly opened her eyes and saw that Sayo was starting to move away from her. "Good," she said before walking away.
Rinko, who had been terrified, finally sat down in her spot, her legs unable to hold the weight of her body. She placed both hands in front of her chest then felt her heartbeat which was still beating rapidly.
What exactly happened? Then, let's go back to the day before.
Rinko was late getting home because today was her scheduled picket day. She had informed her best friend, Udagawa Ako, that she would be late and told her to go home first. After finishing her picket, she hurried home because it was almost nighttime.
After passing through the streets where she usually went home, she saw someone she knew at the end of her crossroads. She approached the person to see if she was right. And sure enough, her long teal hair indicated that the person was Sayo.
She was a little surprised, because Sayo was one of the delinquent in her school. Rumor had it, she had already hospitalized someone when she was in middle school. There were also rumors that she had made a teacher quit her job. And there are many more rumors circulating around her.
She then hesitated to continue walking down that road, she also thought about taking a detour to avoid Sayo. However, there was one thing that caught her eye when she saw her. Sayo seemed to be crouched down and seemed to be stroking something?
As curiosity got the better of her, she ventured to approach her slowly to see what she was doing. After her eyes caught sight of what Sayo was doing, she was surprised again.
She was petting a stray dog with a smile on her face.
She gasped at the sight. It was the first time she saw Sayo smile, because every time she saw her, Sayo would put on a flat face as if she didn't care about anything around her. Instantly all the rumors she had heard about Sayo disappeared completely from Rinko's brain as if that information had never existed before.
And honestly, Rinko felt that Sayo's smile was the sweetest smile she had ever seen.
She continued to stare at her until she didn't even realize that Sayo was aware of her existence. With a flushed face, Sayo immediately ran away from the place, leaving Rinko who still didn't seem to understand the situation.
Back to the present time.
Rinko, who was still trying to calm her heartbeat, recalled what she saw yesterday. Coupled with Sayo's face that was very close to her earlier made her realize the charm of Hikawa Sayo even more.
She also tried to step her feet to return to her class before the next lesson began.
This is bad. Rinko couldn't concentrate in class at all. Why? The answer, of course, is because of someone who has been occupying her mind since yesterday. And to make matters worse, that person was sitting right next to her.
Throughout the lesson, she tried not to pay attention to the person next to her. However, it was in vain because every time she intended to focus on the lesson, her eyes would automatically glance at Sayo.
Suddenly she got a paper from beside her. Curious, she opened the paper and inside was written the sentence, "Meet me at the building behind the school later,"
Eh? Did she mean to confess her feelings to me? She thought.
However, her thoughts were instantly shattered when she saw Sayo's flat face, and out of nowhere she immediately understood that Sayo was annoyed.
She could only gulp and wait to see what would happen to her.
With heavy steps, she headed to the place they had agreed on. From a distance she could already see Sayo standing waiting for her arrival. Honestly, she was a little reluctant to meet her, considering she had upset Sayo.
She made up her mind then walked over to Sayo.
"Do you have something to say Shirokane-san?" she said matter-of-factly.
"Eh? What do you mean Hikawa-san?"
"During class earlier you kept glancing at me, and to be honest it bothered me quite a bit. If you have something to say, just say it now,"
She don't know what came over her, but Rinko suddenly said something she didn't mean to say.
"You were so cute when you petted that stray dog yesterday,"
A moment later, she realized what she had said and reflexively closed her eyes, waiting for something to hit her.
However, a few moments later when she didn't feel anything, she slowly opened her eyes, and the sight in front of her was completely unexpected.
Hikawa Sayo tried to hide her flushed face. Rinko had seen her blush yesterday, but seeing her directly in front of her made her certain that Sayo was the cutest thing in the world.
"D-do you want to go out with me?"
Who would have thought that Sayo would receive a spontaneous confession from Rinko back then, which then led her to this night.
A few days after they became a couple, they decided to go on a date tonight. Rinko was seen waiting in a small park with lights along the path. As she looked around, there were many people who were also celebrating this day. There were families playing with their children, couples who seemed to be enjoying their time together, and even grandparents who seemed to be reminiscing.
Her thoughts were then interrupted when she saw the figure she had been waiting for. Seeing Sayo wearing casual clothes made her unable to tear her eyes away. She looked very beautiful and different from her at school.
"I am sorry Shirokane-san, did you wait long?"
"Ah no really Hikawa-san, I just came here,"
Sayo then sat down beside her, and silence fell between them.
"By the way, you're beautiful today."
"Yo-you're beautiful too Shirokane-san,"
Hearing what each of them said, made them embarrassed to death. However, the awkwardness between them did not last long when Sayo's left hand touched Rinko's right hand. Rinko reciprocated by holding her hand.
They didn't need words to describe the warmth they were feeling right now.
