Angels give the best scratches

Summary:

If impulse uses his glamour to look more human...why cant he use it for other stuff?

Work Text:

Impulse in all his days would say he handles anger well. If he's frustrated or a project he's working on simply refuses to cooperate he would walk away, take a breath, hell even just go see a friend and get their help.
But as he slowly etched his claw in the redstone trying his damnedest to get the signal he could feel his body heating up.
Hellish fire licking at his lungs as he moves. tick by tick.
Click- he just broke the whole line.

Freezing he stares in disbelief at the scattered powder and just...stares. after what seemed like a lifetime of falling in his head he slowly lays down and lets his body shift Not giving a Fuck what his glamour changes into.

Skizz was taking his spare feathers from his preening when he spotted a familiar grey main coon laying by a new contraption. It's body sill yet it's tail lashes like a whip
"oh dipple-dop."he muttered and set the crate down before approaching slowly.
"Impy? What's wrong bud?"he said softly crouching next to him. The cat didn't respond, the tail stopping but Skizz saw a twitch in it's ears. "You need some help?"he asked carefully reaching over and gently scratching the base of one of Impulse's ears.
A rumbling purr starts to fill the room.
"There we go...that's a good impy."skizz said, keeping his voice soft as he continues his scritches.
Eventually the tail flicks a little and skizz pulls his hand back "what are you working on bud?" He asks. Slowly the cat looks at him.
It's eyes still a bright gold that made him smile. "You wanna show me?"he asks moving to sit closer. With a grunt the cat slowly pushes itself to stand and looks up at him with a chirp.
"Okay, lead the way"skizz says and stands. With a flick of the tail the cat moves.
It's legs shaking slightly but the determination is clear.
Skizz follows as the cat leads him down the hall and through a doorway into a workshop. "Oh this is a cool space!"skizz said, the room was large and had a few tables scattered about with different projects, there was even a small area filled with different types of stone and materials. The cat chirped and looked at him before heading to the back wall where a small panel sat. It was a small box of redstone and a lever.
"Is this what you were working on?" He asked and walked over, the cat's tail curling and uncurling slightly. He looks down and sees the scattered redstone, his eyes widen a little and he looks back at the cat who's body was slowly sinking lower
"impy, are you okay?"he asks carefully reaching down to scritch under the chin. The cat huffs and leans into the touch.
Skizz smiled and stood. "Do you need help fixing it?" A sharp flinch came from the shifted demon and his ears pinned down.
"It's okay if you don't want my help"skizz says softly "i can do it if you want, but it's okay to ask for help" the cat's eyes look up at him, a silent debate.
Huffing it just layed down and pawed at his shoe in silent request.
"I'll take that as a yes"skizz chuckled and crouched down.
He grabbed the nearby bucket of water and wet his hands before gently picking up a few pieces and carefully started setting it in the lines. He heard a soft rumble and felt a weight press against his side.

He glanced down to see the cat had moved to lean against him, eyes half closed. "You just relax impy, i've got this"he said and went back to the redstone.
The cat huffed and settled more, slowly its head started to droop, soon enough a loud rumbling snore filled the room. "Oh you really are a tired boy, aren't you"skizz hummed. He continued his work, making sure everything was perfect before pulling out his sword and slicing a bit of the stone to start the circuit.

Looking back he sees the cat still fast asleep, curled up tight and the snoring stopped.
Gently he reaches over and scratches the cats ears "i'll leave it like this for now.."he said softly. Gently he scooped the cat into his arms, being careful not to wake the sleeping form.
It let out a huff but otherwise didn't react as skizz carried him out and back to the living area.
Once he got to the couch he carefully set the cat down before grabbing a blanket.

Carefully he tucks the blanket around the sleeping cat. It shifted a little and a small purr filled the air.
"You just rest for a while"skizz whispered, gently scratching the cat's ears. "I'll make you something for dinner"
Impulse woke up a few hours later to the smell of chicken. Stretching he yawned and opened his eyes. Looking around he noticed he was on the couch.
He could hear skizz moving in the kitchen. Groaning he stood and stretched, popping a few joints before looking back to see skizz walk in.
"Hey sleepy head"the other man said and set a plate on the table "thought i'd make you something, since you were asleep." The cat blinked a bit and looked around taking in the situation. Then in a delayed reaction sulked and flopped over remembering what happened earlier. "Oh come on bud it's not that bad"skizz chuckled and scritched the base of his ear. Impulse purred and leaned into the touch.
"Come on, the food's gonna get cold." Skizz said and moved to the table. Impulse grumbled and stood before shifting.

His body stretching as his horns grew and wings sprouted.
"I hate redstone"impulse huffed and sat down, his tail lashing as he did. The angel smirked and reached over to scratch under his chin. Impulse melted, purring as he tilted his head into the touch.
Skizz chuckled and pulled his hand away
"i fixed your circuit"he said and picked up his fork. Impulse stared a moment before it clicked and his tail flicked in happiness "you're welcome."skizz chuckled and began eating. Impulse smiled and nodded before doing the same.
After a while they fell into comfortable silence. Eventually they finished and skizz took the plates to the kitchen. As he washed them he glanced over his shoulder "you need anything else?" A soft paw patted at his calf, he glanced down to see impulse in cat form staring up at him.
"What's up boy?"he asked and knelt down. Impulse huffed and leaned forward rubbing his head against his face.
"Aww"skizz cooed and scratched behind his ears "do you wanna spend the night?" The cat purred and his tail flicked, the tip hitting the ground a few times.
"Alright then, come on. I'm gonna be making a few beds." Skizz said and stood up.
As he turned towards the stairs impulse leapt into his arms, skizz gasped and grabbed him. "Whoa!"he said and held him close.
Impulse purred and bumped their heads together before climbing up to perch on his shoulders.
Skizz smiled and headed up the stairs.

As they passed the workshop the cat's ears perked up. "It'll be okay"skizz hummed and petted him. Once they reached the room skizz set impulse on the floor and headed to a chest.
Opening it he pulled out a few stacks of wool.
As he did that impulse padded over to the bed and hopped up, circling a few times before settling and grooming his paws. As he did skizz pulled out a few more materials and started crafting.
The soft clicks of redstone filled the room. Once he finished the first bed he turned and smiled "alright impy"he said and pat the bed "you can use this one. I'm gonna make myself one"the cat paused and flicked it's tail, clearly unsatisfied by that. "No, you're getting your own. I'm not going to steal your bed."
The cat hissed and swatted at the air making skizz giggle. "I'm serious, I'll just make myself one"he said and walked over. The cat growled and pounced, landing on the bed before hissing and puffing out its fur. "Okay, o-kahaha- when did you get so cuddly?"skizz asked, holding his arms over his face as the cat swiped at him.
"I'm sorry ok- I'll suffocate you with my snuggling, happy?"the angel said and held his arms open. The cat purred and leapt into his arms. "Oof"skizz grunted and hugged the cat "i swear you're a carpet mongtal." He hummed and walked to the bed.
Impulse chirped and rubbed his head against his chin. "Aww, someone's affectionate today"skizz hummed and gently rubbed under the cats chin. Impulse purred and closed his eyes.
Eventually they settled on the bed, the cat curled up on skizz's chest. "Sleep well bud"skizz said softly, stroking the fur on impulse's back. Impulse huffed and curled up tighter, drifting off.

When skizz woke up the next morning he cursed as cat hair fused to his every pore and squished his buddy as revenge. The claw scars where worth it!
